Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

"Child, we have summoned you here because the Uchiha clan is currently under siege from an unknown force." Koharu Utatane began, her voice laced with concern.

Homura Mitokado continued, his voice trembling with indignation and horror, "We have received multiple reports of Uchiha bodies strewn about, murdered with impunity within Konoha. We cannot and will not allow this to happen. Konoha will strike back with full force against the offenders. As we speak, ANBU have been dispatched to investigate and eliminate anyone causing distress to the Uchiha clan."

Akira, listening, pursed his lips. He had anticipated something like this. It was inevitable, really. They needed to say something to absolve themselves of any responsibility, to keep their hands clean. Nevertheless, this situation would allow him to obtain what he needed.

He had decided long ago to play along with their charade. What was done could not be undone. The Uchiha clan was gone, and he hadn't possessed the power or resources to prevent it. He wasn't overwhelmingly sad about the Uchiha's fall; after all, he had saved those he wanted to save. His father, Toguro... well, may he rest in peace. His death was a necessary sacrifice for multiple reasons, a sacrifice to the heavens it is always something that is needed.

Still, the two primary instigators of the massacre would die at the hands of the avenger, Sasuke. And Obito... he would die eventually, one way or another. Perhaps he should consider resurrecting Rin and fucking her in front of Obito to break him completely before his demise. An interesting thought to ponder.

For now, he would play along with this farce.

Akira didn't respond but looked at Sarutobi with a broken voice filled with sorrow. He suddenly stood up and kneeled, the chair falling backward with a loud clatter. "T-Third Hokage-sama, there is a man... he's slaughtering everyone in the clan..." he began, his voice heartbroken and filled with pain. "That man... he killed my father... Hokage-sama, please, you must stop him before he kills more innocent people. How could anyone do this in Konoha?" he growled, his voice thick with anguish.

Inside, Akira laughed at his own shitty act, but it was what they wanted to see. Even if he said nothing, they would twist his words to fit their narrative, making black seem white and white seem black.

The sudden actions and words of Akira caught the Konoha council elders off guard, even Danzo. Sarutobi exhaled a cloud of smoke, a small smile playing on his lips.

"Calm down, child," the Third Hokage said, his voice grave and stern. "We will never allow someone who has committed such atrocities in our village to escape. I believe our ANBU will swiftly find the one responsible for your father's death and the deaths of the others. Justice will be served for all who have fallen by his hand."

"Thank you, Hokage-sama! Thank you," Akira replied, his voice brimming with gratitude.

A harsh voice suddenly interjected, "Kid, if your father and others died at the hands of this unknown force, how is it that you are still alive?" Danzo questioned, his lone visible eye boring into Akira. He was not pleased with the show, especially since multiple Uchiha had been left alive, ruining his plans. He knew Akira was the one who had used those dark flames.

Akira narrated, his voice tinged with fear, "Elder Danzo, I... I was just lucky. I was returning home from the ninja school after a long, exhausting day of training when I had a premonition that something terrible would happen."

He continued, "Upon arriving home, I left the clan compound with my mom and aunt, as they were having afternoon tea. I convinced them to go to the Yamanaka clan head's house to buy some flowers. It also helped that my sister and cousin were there, playing with Ino Yamanaka; they are very close friends."

"After that, we left to visit my mom and aunt's longtime friend, Kushina Uzumaki," Akira finished.

The Third Hokage nodded, as if accepting Akira's story as truth. "You are a gifted child with the Will of Fire, Akira. The Will of Fire warned you of the imminent danger."

Koharu and Homura wore interesting expressions as they listened to Akira and Hiruzen. Danzo's eyes, however, seemed to burn with an eternal flame, as if they might spit fire at any moment.

"Hai, Hokage-sama. It allowed me and my closest to survive this attack," Akira said, his voice relieved and fortunate.

Danzo pressed on, "Then, why did you return to the clan compound?"

Akira replied with conviction, "Because I had to, Elder Danzo. While some of my family was safe from the unknown danger thanks to my premonition, my father, cousins, uncle, and aunt were still in there. I had to save them."

"So, I faced my fears and walked back to the clan... and I hate myself for not returning sooner. There was a man outside the military police headquarters, killing people indiscriminately. He had my cousin Izumi in chains. I saw this from afar as I approached, so I hurriedly rescued my cousin. I attacked that man with a great fireball jutsu and took the chance to save her. But then I saw the dead bodies in the street, and among them was my father's cold corpse, Elder Danzo!" Akira's voice broke as tears welled up in his eyes.

Sarutobi spoke with regret and sincerity, "I'm sorry, Akira. That you and the others had to suffer like this. It is my failure as Hokage. Nothing like this should ever happen in Konoha."

"Hokage-sama," Akira said, still playing the part of the grieving survivor.

Danzo's cane was on the verge of splintering under the force of his grip. "You still haven't explained how you managed to stay alive," he growled, his eyes locked onto Akira.

'Heh,' Akira chuckled inwardly.

"As I was saying, Elder Danzo, after seeing my father's cold corpse, the assailant seemed distracted by something within the clan compound and moved inside it. He paid me and my cousin no mind, so I ventured inside with her, against my fears, as she needed to find her parents."

Akira's voice wavered as he continued, "What we found inside was a scene from hell... my clansmen, they were all dead... everyone, from children to the elderly, male and female alike! What kind of monster could do this? I hated myself for being so weak... But it wasn't over yet."

"My cousin's parents were killed in the same brutal way as the rest. My cousin Sasuke's fate remained unknown; I had to find him. So, with my cousin Izumi by my side, we made our way to the clan head's house. There we found Sasuke, alive but in a coma."

"We took him with us and left the compound. Then, Hokage-sama, your ANBU called me to come here."

Sarutobi tried to comfort him, "You have been through a lot, child. We will find those responsible for this."

Danzo growled in anger, "Then why is the compound ablaze? Why is the dark fire that only you possess burning everything in there?"

Akira replied as if just recalling that detail, "Oh, as I was leaving with both my cousins, I felt someone watching me. I felt true fear and danger, so I unleashed a fierce fire. It expanded like wildfire."

He added reassuringly, "Don't worry, Hokage-sama and elders. The fire will not leave the clan walls; it will extinguish itself after a while."
