Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Make me Yours

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down as I confronted Mel about her behavior at the party.

"Mel, can I talk to you about something?" I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral.

Mel looked at me, a hint of curiosity in her eyes. "Of course, baby. What's on your mind?"

I hesitated, unsure of how to broach the subject. "It's just...I didn't like the way you were flirting with other guests at the party," I said, trying to keep my jealousy in check.

Mel's expression changed, her eyes narrowing slightly. "What are you talking about, Jonathan?" she asked, her voice innocent.

"Don't play dumb, Mel," I said, my frustration growing. "I saw the way you were laughing and touching other men. It made me uncomfortable."

Mel's expression changed, her eyes flashing with anger. But then, in an instant, her face softened, and she smiled sweetly.

"Jonathan, you're so possessive," she said, her voice husky. "I love it. But if you're so insecure, then maybe we should just get married and make it official."

I was taken aback by her suggestion. Marriage? I hadn't thought that far ahead.

But as I looked into Mel's eyes, I saw something there that gave me pause. A glint of triumph, of victory. It was as if she had been waiting for me to confront her, and now that I had, she was using it to her advantage.

"Mel, I..." I started, my voice trailing off as I searched for the right words.

Mel's eyes sparkled with amusement, and she leaned in close, her lips brushing against my ear.

"Say yes, Jonathan," she whispered. "Say yes, and make me yours forever."

I stood there, frozen in thought, as Mel's words hung in the air. Marry her? Would that really put an end to my doubts?

I thought back to all the times I'd felt uncertain about our relationship. The way she flirted with other men, the way she manipulated me to get what she wanted. Would marrying her really change any of that?

Or would it just be a way of avoiding the real issues in our relationship?

I looked at Mel, who was watching me with an expectant expression. She seemed so confident, so sure that marrying her would solve all our problems.

But I wasn't so sure.

I thought about all the times I'd tried to talk to her about my doubts, all the times she'd brushed me off or changed the subject. Would marrying her really make her more receptive to my concerns?

Or would it just give her more power over me?

I felt a wave of uncertainty wash over me. I didn't know what to do.

Part of me wanted to say yes, to marry her and hope that it would all work out. But another part of me was screaming to slow down, to think carefully before making such a huge commitment.

I took a deep breath, trying to clear my head. I needed to think this through, to consider all the pros and cons before making a decision.

But as I looked at Mel, I knew that I couldn't put her off for much longer. She was waiting for an answer, and I needed to give her one soon.

A month later

With our wedding date set for two months from now, Mel and I dove headfirst into the planning process. We started by discussing the overall theme and tone of the wedding.

"I've always dreamed of a fairytale wedding," Mel said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Something romantic and elegant, with a touch of whimsy."

I smiled, happy to see her so enthusiastic. "That sounds beautiful," I said. "What did you have in mind?"

Mel pulled out a stack of wedding magazines and began flipping through them, pointing out different ideas and inspiration. We spent hours poring over the magazines, discussing everything from the color scheme to the music.

As we planned, I was struck by how organized and detail-oriented Mel was. She had a vision for our wedding, and she was determined to bring it to life.

"I've made a list of potential venues," she said, pulling out a spreadsheet. "I've also contacted a few caterers and florists. What do you think?"

I was impressed by her thoroughness. "You've really thought of everything," I said.

Mel smiled, looking pleased with herself. "I want our wedding to be perfect," she said.

Over the next few weeks, Mel and I continued to plan our wedding. We visited potential venues, sampled different cuisines, and even took dance lessons to prepare for our first dance as husband and wife.

Through it all, Mel was a whirlwind of activity, driving the planning forward with her boundless energy and enthusiasm. I, on the other hand, was content to sit back and let her take the reins.

But as the wedding day drew closer, I began to feel a sense of nervousness. What if something went wrong? What if Mel and I weren't as compatible as we thought?

I pushed the thoughts aside, telling myself that I was just being paranoid. Mel and I loved each other, and we were committed to making our marriage work.

As the countdown to our wedding day continued, Mel and I grew closer and closer. We would spend hours talking, laughing, and just enjoying each other's company.

I felt grateful to have found her, to have found someone who loved me for who I was. And I knew that I would do anything to make her happy.

One day, as we were out running errands, Mel turned to me with a mischievous glint in her eye.

"I have a surprise for you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What is it?" I asked.

Mel just smiled, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "You'll have to wait and see," she said.

I laughed, feeling a sense of anticipation. What could Mel have planned?

As we continued on our way, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Our wedding day was just around the corner, and I knew that it was going to be an unforgettable celebration of our love.

But little did I know, Mel's surprise was only the beginning of a series of events that would change everything.
