Awakening to Chaos
Kael's vision blurred as reality reformed around them. When the light faded, he found himself standing atop a ruined cityscape. Buildings lay in smoldering heaps, roads cracked like dry earth, and the air reeked of death.
The apocalypse had not paused in his absence.
Elyra steadied herself beside him, eyes wide with horror. "We were only gone for moments… How could so much destruction happen?"
The old man grimaced. "Time flows differently in the celestial realm. A day there could be years here."
Kael clenched his fists. His home, his world, lay in ruin. And at the center of it all, he could feel a presence—a force darker than anything he had encountered before. His rebirth had not gone unnoticed.
In the distance, figures moved—mutated horrors twisted by the virus, their monstrous forms brimming with chaotic energy. But beyond them, standing atop the highest point of the ruined city, was something far worse.
A being wreathed in black flames, its aura suffocating, its eyes locked onto Kael.
"He finally returns," the entity mused, its voice like a thousand whispers in the wind. "The god who abandoned his throne."
Kael exhaled slowly, his golden eyes narrowing.
"And who might you be?"
The figure smirked, stepping forward. "I am what remains when gods forsake their creations. I am the void left in their absence. And you, Kael, are the catalyst of this world's suffering."
The words sent a chill through Elyra. "Kael… what is he saying?"
The being chuckled darkly. "Your precious god-king here? He was the one who set everything in motion. The virus, the mutations, the fall of humanity—it all began the moment he chose to descend."
Silence stretched between them.
Then Kael smiled, a slow, knowing grin.
"Then I suppose it's my responsibility to end it."
The battlefield was set.
And the war for the world's future had begun.
