Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Witches’ War

The night air was thick with tension as Leonard vanished into the darkness, chasing after whoever had dared to strike at him.

Eva stood frozen, her breath ragged as she clutched her chest. Her window was shattered, glass scattered across the floor. The air smelled of something ancient and wrong, a residue of magic that sent a shiver down her spine.

"What the actual hell..." she whispered.

She wanted to believe she imagined it. That it was just some messed-up dream. But the shattered glass and the ringing in her ears told her otherwise. Someone had attacked Leonard. And now he was out there hunting them down like some predator in the night.

Her phone! She fumbled for it on the coffee table, her fingers shaking as she unlocked the screen. Call the police? And say what? 'Hey, a vampire just got attacked in my living room, and now he's out for revenge'? Yeah. That would go well.

Instead, she dropped onto her couch, rubbing her face. "I need a drink. A strong one."

Leonard's Hunt

Leonard moved through the city like a shadow, his senses on high alert. Whoever had dared to strike at him wasn't just a random fool—it was them. He could smell the magic in the air, the lingering essence of the witches.

His crimson eyes darkened.

The witches were back.

His mind flickered to the past, to the war that had raged between vampires and witches centuries ago. Their spells had forced him into slumber. Their treachery had turned the tides of battle against his kind.

And now, they knew he was awake.

His lips curled into a smirk. They should have stayed in hiding.

Eva's Unwanted Visitor

Hours passed. Eva was still awake, nerves on edge.

She had cleaned up most of the glass, but her paranoia had only grown. What if that attacker came back? What if Leonard didn't?

Then, just as she considered locking every door and trying to sleep—

The front door swung open.

She jumped, grabbing the nearest object—a lamp.

Leonard walked in like he owned the place, his coat torn, blood smeared across his shirt. He looked like he had been in a battle, but his crimson eyes glowed with satisfaction.

Eva dropped the lamp. "Jesus, Mary, and Joseph! What the hell happened to you?!"

Leonard tossed his coat aside. "The witches know I'm awake. They tried to strike first."

Eva's stomach twisted. "What do you mean? Witches? Like, actual witches? Pointy hats, brooms, and cauldrons?"

Leonard scoffed. "Don't be ridiculous. These witches are nothing like the stories your kind tells. They're powerful, cunning, and very much real."

Eva swallowed hard. "Great. So now I have ancient vampires and witches causing trouble in my apartment. Just my luck."

Eva groaned, dragging her hands down her face. "Oh, you have got to be kidding me."
