Chapter 4 - THE WISTERIA TUNNEL

The tunnel was a big labyrinth with multiple dead ends. Ron and Ela tired many routes within the tunnel but always ended up with a dead end. It took them two hours just to end up returning to the entrance. "There's nothing here. We're just wasting our time at this point. We've already tried using multiple routes leading to nothing. Let's just go back to the hotel for now. The shadow might just tell you something else, or a way to enter." Ela gasped. "Wait, it did tell me to use the powers wisely. That's it! I should use the visual prowess, which helped me notice each and everything in detail. Maybe that way I can find a way in!" Ron exclaimed. "But can you even use the powers without his help?" Ela asked. "I should give it a try. Maybe I can use them without any help." Ron replied. Closing him eyes, Ron concentrated his energy towards his eyes. "Concentrate on your energy flow, control your breathing, direct the flow towards your eyes, power them up." He whispered, trying to control each and every step. Suddenly, he started feeling his eyes energizing. "It's happening. I can feel it." He whispered. "Try opening them." Ela said. Ron slowly opened his eyes and smiled. "It worked." He exclaimed. He looked inside the tunnel and was able to see a trail of yellow smoke leading to some route inside the tunnel. "Hey, I've seen you plenty, and I definitely know that your eyes weren't red in color." Ela exclaimed. "Red? No, they're blue." Ron replied. "I see what's happening here. Whenever you use this power of yours, your eye color changes. They look magical, glowing, with a sense of terror as well though." Ela explained. "I see, by the way, I can see a path of trail within the tunnel now thanks to these powers. Maybe this is how we can find the magical world." Ron said. "What are we waiting for then? Let's go! We'll either find the world or get killed by some monster. Not a big deal!" Ela replied, trying to reassure herself. They entered the tunnel once again, following the trail.

It's been thirty minutes, this tunnel wasn't even so long, when will we reach the ending?" Ela grunted. "Wait, I see an end to it. It's a bright light. I can't see past it." Ron exclaimed as he rushed towards it. Ela ran behind him, trying to keep up. As soon as he touched the light, everything disappeared. "Purity, love, compassion, the will to fight for the sake of others and friendship, all the traits. You deserve to enter the magical world." A mysterious voice said. Suddenly, Ron and Ela found themselves in a garden. In a distance, there was a huge mansion. Butterflies and birds flew around which was uncommon in the real world. They turned around to see the actual entrance to the world. It was a light, connected to the tunnel.

They walked to the mansion and entered it. There were some people who were shocked when they looked at Ron. He's totally resembles him!" One of them said. "Who are these two people? Entering the holy place, he really is back I think." Other one said. "With all of these people, how are we going to find the right person?" Ela asked. "This place, it's the mysterious magic world that was mentioned in that internet article. It can't be, it's so relaxing. It feels like home." Ron replied. "Ron, why are you tearing up?" She asked. "Uh? Oh, wow. Why do I have tears in my eyes? I don't know. It's the energy of this place that, it seems so familiar." He replied, wiping his tears off. The mansion was an old Japanese-style house with a huge pond and a farm on one side. "It's so big and majestic." Ela exclaimed. As they were admiring the mansion, an old man, at least ninety years old, came out. "Newcomers? So, magic still runs in humans' veins these days. Wait, you're aura. It can't be! Follow me." The old man exclaimed. "Excuse me, um; we're looking for some Ren-sama. Do you know where he might be? It's kind of urgent sir." Ron asked. "Non-stop blabbering won't take you anywhere. Follow me inside." The old man replied. "Let's follow him then. We don't have any other option." Ela whispered. They followed the old man to a big hall. On a table, a stone slab was sitting. "Go pick that tablet up and read it." He asked Ron. "Um, sure." Ron replied and slowly made his way towards the table. He was going to pick the slab up when he realized, "it's a test! I was told not to touch anything. Thank god I remember it." He looked at the tab and saw something written on it in Japanese. He was multilingual, with an expertise in Japanese that he learnt as a little boy, so he started reading. At first, it was normal Japanese, but as he read further, the words turned into a different language. He used his visual prowess to make out the words and it worked. After reading the whole tablet, he was going to turn around when the old man pushed him. Ron nearly touched the tablet when he used wind magic to push himself backwards, in return destroying the tablet. Something appeared from it which entered Ron's body. The old man was staring at him with watery eyes. "Okaeri, Ronin" he said. Suddenly, Ron's eye color changed into blood red as he started having visions of someone, fighting demons and monsters. These images started taking over his head. He shouted and growled in pain. "Stop this! Damn it, Stop taking over my mind!" "Ron, are you alright!? What the heck is happening to him? Help him!" Ela shouted at the old man. "He's getting his visions back. He is back! He is back!" The man shouted in joy. Ron was having a difficult time fighting the visions when he suddenly fainted.

"Where am I?" Ron said as he woke up in the same grassland as before. He stood up and again saw the black humanoid figure. He picked up a rock and threw it towards the shadow, which went right past it. Ron rushed at him and punched him. Unlike last time, he was able to punch him. The shadow didn't retaliate and shouted, "Stop this nonsense at once Ronin! You don't even remember me!?" He asked. "Nonsense? Things happening with me are nonsense! I couldn't give a damn about anything else right now! Who is Ronin!? Who are you!?" Ron shouted at the figure. "Calm your nerves down. You'll get the answers as promised." The figure replied. "Start speaking!" Ron shouted again, grabbing the shadow by its collar. "Fine then. My name is Grid. I'm a higher devil. I was sealed inside you some centuries ago." The shadow replied. "How is that even possible? I'm not twenty-two right now you bastard! Stop playing and tell me everything!" Ron grunted. "Trust me. You are Ronin. The Silent Assassin, The Lost Assassin, and many other names are given to you. You don't remember anything because of a curse by a world threatening entity who envisions to rule the world, but you retaliated and fought him. You managed to seal him away, but in return, he was able to cruse you to lose all of your powers and reincarnate every time you die. It's been centuries since you last reincarnated though. We slowly became friends after having multiple adventures together. The last time you died, you promised me that you were not going to forget me, and if you do, I should beat you and make you remember." Grid explained in a soft voice. His voice didn't feel unfamiliar at all. "You're the one who has been teaching me and guiding me till now, I recognize your voice now. I'm still not understanding anything now. Reincarnation? Demon? What's happening? I'm feeling dizzy." Ron grunted as he fell on his knees. "I don't know how to make you believe or get your memories back, but I'm going to do it. Now go forth, meet Ren, he'll guide you. Don't forget me ever again, friend." Grid replied. Ron lost consciousness as he finally saw grid's face. He was in tears.

He woke up in a room, lying on a bed with a cloth on his head. He saw Ela and tried to get up. "Ron! You're back. Are you alright? They were spouting out some random stuff about reincarnation, rebirth, destiny, demon and what not. I didn't understand anything. It's all so confusing. Did you meet the shadow person? What did he say?" Ela asked. Ron explained about his meeting with Grid and how he's apparently a warrior named Ronin. He then saw the old guy in the corner of the room. "Are you Ren-sama?" Ron asked. "Hi, old friend. Long time no see. I know you don't know me right now, but you'll slowly remember everything. I understand everything is confusing for you right now, but it'll get better. For now, your main goal is to find your weapons, the "Four Katanas of Will", the daggers, and finally, "The Legendary Might". When you died, all of your weapons, that have the key to your powers, scattered all around the magical world, and only you have the power to find them back." Ren explained. "Alright, I understand. But how will I find them?" he asked. "For starters, I have a lead on one of them. I can give you the coordinates. Find your Katana, which will lead you to your other weapons. For now, go back to your world. You will be on time for your bus to pick you up." Ren explained, giving Ron the coordinates to the weapon. "Um, thank you for your help, Ren-sama." Ron exclaimed. "Oh please, don't add sama to my name, it sounds weird coming out of your mouth. I'm a fellow classmate after all." Ren smiled as he used his magic to teleport Ela and Ron to the bus stand.

"Did you ask Grid about my mother's foul play?" Ela asked. "I'm sorry but I wasn't able to. I'm sure we'll get some answers soon though. I just hope nothing bad happens and everything goes accordingly." Ron replied. "Don't worry, everything will be alright." Ela reassured him. "Shit!" Ron gasped. "What happened?" Ela asked. "With all of this happening, I totally forgot Sam! He must be alone! I'm such a bad friend." Ron grunted. "It's fine, he'll be fine, I guess." Ela smirked.
