Chapter 14 - STRANGER DANGER

They rushed outside to see witness a demi-human, creating havoc in the town, killing everyone in sight. "What the heck? A demi-human! Weren't they totally exterminated?" Grid gasped. "Exterminated? What do you mean?" Sam asked. "Some centuries ago, there was a man who possessed unbelievable powers, similar to that of Ronin. It was said that he and Ronin had the equal amount of strength. With just a single finger snap, he froze every demi-human in their village, and with another snap, he killed all of them." Grid explained. "You mean, Ron has those amounts of powers? And who is that guy? Was he a good person? Is he still alive?" Sam asked. "I don't know if he can be called good. He was just a power-hungry person, taking on anything that came in his path. Let me stop this maniac first." Grid grunted.

"Knock it off! Moron. How dare you kill innocents huh? Stop this at once!" Grid growled. The demi-human instantly got angry as soon as he saw Grid. He charged up, unleashing his dark powers. First, he threw multiple dark blades towards Grid which he dodged easily. Using shadow manipulation, Grid tried getting control of his body. As soon as he got hold of his limbs, he tried to cancel out his movement, but the demi-human used Grid's shadow as a rope and pulled him towards himself and grabbed him by his neck. "You shall meet your end here, Demon!" He yelled, kicking him in the stomach. He threw him up in the sky and then, using his wings as blades, sliced Grid inn half, killing him on the spot. Ela and Sam screamed when Tadao and Samao reached the spot. "Shit! We need to evacuate everyone!" Tadao grunted. He then created a defensive wall over the town. "Is that it? Is that all he was? He called himself a warrior but didn't even stand his ground in front of me for a minute. He had the audacity to finish my whole clan? As mine died, his shall die too! I'll finish each and every one of you, by my own hands and no one will protect you!" The demi-human shouted.

"That's your delusion. You shall die here." Ronin said as he came out of the house holding both of his Katanas. Ela ran to him, giving him a shoulder to stand. "Ron you're injured! Don't even think about fighting him." Ela gasped. "He killed Grid! For no fuckin reason! This moron deserves to die!" Ronin shouted. His body was boiling. His eyes turned crimson red as he gave the demi-human a death glare. His rage was taking over his mind. "I'll kill you moron!" He shouted and teleported right behind the demi-human. He kicked him on his ribs, shattering them instantly and sent him flying. Ronin teleported to him again, kicking him upwards this time. A greenish-red fire consumed Ronin's body. The demi-human saw the flames and gulped. "So, he's the one who destroyed my whole clan and killed everyone. No shit he was able to do that in seconds. He's a real monster. I wasn't prepared for this!" The demi-human gasped. He was able to see his end in Ronin's eyes. Ronin trajected the flames right at him, burning his body completely.

His ashes started to fell apart when he said in a broken voice, "Those eyes. I'm sorry for killing your friend. I now realize it wasn't you. Your aura is far different from that person. Please find him and destroy him. There are some others of my kind, refuged near the mountain range of Sakisona. Please get to them before he reaches them." His voice disappeared as his body slowly disintegrated. The flames suddenly compressed and took the form of an emblem on Roin's chest. "Ron! Are you alright?" Ela asked. "Yes, I'm okay. He was just trying to avenge his family. Someone must have misinterpreted us for that person and give him the information." Ronin explained. Ronin's eyes were filled with pain as he wasn't able to sense Grid inside his body. "He's gone. Grid's gone. He was my brother. I let him die. How could I?" Ronin grunted. "Who died?" Grid's voice came from behind. Ronin turned around to see Grid in flesh coming out of a summoning portal. "What? Grid? How? How is this possible?" Ronin gasped. He hugged him tightly. "Now now, no need to be all emotional." Grid exclaimed, hugging Ronin back. "How did you even survive dude?" Sam asked. "Well, to start with. That was one crazy strong demi-human. Well, they are strong, that's why they were feared all along. So yes, when he slashed me, I lost consciousness. When I opened my eyes, I found myself in the underworld. I saw multiple demons lurking around working their asses off while devils were ruling the place. Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice. It was my younger brother, who's surprisingly, the ruler of the underworld. Crazy right? We reunited after so many centuries. Damn that was such an unexpected but needed. We talked about how things were in the nether after I was sealed inside Ronin and even gave the idea of building a castle for me in the underworld. As we were talking about the architecture, my whole body was covered with greenish-ref fire. He then told me that it wasn't my time to die. He told me when these flames appear, it's a soul trade, resulting in a return call." Grid explained. "Lucifer also said that you guys are some good friends, Hehe." Grid exclaimed. "Greenish-red flames? Ronin just used such flames to burn that demi-human up. He must have traded his soul for yours while killing him." Ela exclaimed. "I didn't have access to hellfire before. Looks like the training was worth it." Ronin exclaimed. "So, it was hellfire all along, behind the fever of yours." Grid stated. "Yeah. We're growing. Our training was worth it." Ronin exclaimed. "We're developing with time. In not less than a few more months, we'll grow even more." Grid exclaimed. "Let's not waste any more time then and look for the other weapons." Sam exclaimed. "Alright then, let me try and sense out the other Katanas." Ronin said as he took out his Katana. He tried concentrating but his efforts went in vain. "Why can I not sense it?" He grunted.

Without eating or drinking, he sat on the roof of the mansion, trying to locate his other weapons but all his efforts went in vain. Everyone gave a hand in helping around in the town.

"Three continuous days of searching and there's no clue?" Sam gasped. "That really isn't a problem. The main problem is, he's been at it without any break. Yes, he was a huge amount of aura and magic but still! He hasn't eaten anything for three days! He'll die this way!" Ela raised concern for Ronin. Sam, without saying anything, left the room and reached the roof. "Hey Ron! Come! You have to eat something man. Add in some energy in your body." He said. "You eat. I don't want anything." Ronin replied, continuing to locate for his weapons. Sam lost his temper and punched Ronin hard. He grabbed his collar and shouted at him, "Stop fuckin with us alright!? I don't want anything, don't give me that shit you moron. You think you can handle everything on your own? You think you're too strong? Not eating won't make you stronger you dipshit! The way you are right now, forget Neu and Nue, you won't be able to even fight me right now, let alone killing those two monsters!" "You don't understand! The faster we'll find my weapons, the faster my powers will come back. The faster I'll be able to kill those bloody piece of junks!" Ronin shouted back. "You found anything yet? No right? Maybe you aren't using your powers the right way. Maybe your brain isn't working the right way because it is fuckin tired! Bloody hell, go put some shit in your body or something!" Sam shouted. Ronin had never seen Sam like this before. He calmed himself down, left Ronin's collar and said, "I'm sorry for holding your collar. Come and eat something." He left to have his dinner. Ronin was shocked. He understood that he was wrong and how Sam must be feeling about all of this. After all, he was his best friend. Ronin followed him to the dining hall where everyone was getting ready to have their dinner.

"Do you guys mind if I join?" Ronin asked. "Shut up, sit down and eat something." Sam replied. "I'm sorry guys and thank you Sam. I became too selfish once again." Ronin apologized. "I don't care anymore. I'm leaving." Sam said. "What do you mean Sam? You can't just leave your best friend in midst of a battle he's fighting all alone." Ela said. "A battle he's fighting alone? He's choosing to fight this all alone. What do you think we two are for them? Liability. That's all we are. Nothing more, maybe less. They have to save our asses every time. We can't survive on our own in such a world Ela! They end up hurting themselves for our sake! I just can't take it anymore." Sam grunted. "You aren't a liability Sam. You're here because you wanted to help me, and I don't think I need a reason to protect you and Ela from danger. You guys are my friends, and you matter the most to me. You both, being a human, powerless or whatever. Those things don't even matter to me. I swore to protect my friends who were there for me. You don't have to be strong to help me. You are plenty strong yourself." Ronin said. He thanked Sam for his being there in his life and hugged him. "Alright, I'll let this slide." Sam replied, trying to hold back his tears.

After searching for his weapons for seven more days, Ronin couldn't find anything. "Ten days and I found nothing. Where even are you guys?" Ronin murmured. He was losing hope when Rehm came running to the mansion shouting, "Ronin-Sama! You'd really wanna hear this!"
