Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: The Struggle for Mastery

The morning sun bathed the mountain peak in a golden glow as the MC stood alone, his silhouette etched against the endless sky. A year had passed in deep meditation, and now, with his past memories restored, his path was clearer than ever.

Before him lay a challenge unlike any other—to master the ten supreme techniques he had envisioned.

He closed his eyes, exhaling slowly. His body was relaxed, but his mind was sharp as a blade.

The First Step: Understanding the Power

MC began with the Eclipse Dragon Rend, his first supreme sword technique. Raising his blade, he visualized the flow of energy within him. The concept was simple—a single slash so sharp it cut through dimensions—but executing it was another matter entirely.

He swung.

A vast canyon split open in the mountain below, its depths stretching beyond sight. Yet, he frowned.

"Not perfect. It should have severed space itself."

Again, he swung. Again, and again.

Each strike carried unimaginable force, but he could feel it—he had yet to reach the true essence of the technique.

The Second Step: Pushing Beyond Limits

Days passed as he shifted from one technique to another.

Void Emperor's Step – He vanished and reappeared miles away, but he could still sense his presence lingering. It wasn't true invisibility yet.

Heaven's Devourer Palm – He struck a boulder, and it erased itself from existence, yet he knew it could be faster.

Primordial Annihilation Wave – A breath attack meant to consume realms, yet it merely shattered the land around him.

Transcendent Descent – A strike that should bypass space itself, but his speed was still perceptible.

Failure after failure.

But he did not stop.

Days turned into weeks. Weeks into months. He refined. He improved. He evolved.

The One That Eluded Him

By the sixth month, he had achieved something terrifying—he had fully mastered nine of the ten supreme techniques.

But one technique remained beyond his grasp:

Finality Beyond Gods: Zenith Extermination.

No matter how much he meditated on it, no matter how many times he tried to unleash it, his mind simply could not comprehend its true essence.

He felt its power—a technique so overwhelming that it could end all existence. Yet, when he tried to channel it, the energy refused to obey.

Why?

The answer was simple.

He was not yet worthy.

His body was too weak. His mind was too mortal. His very existence was not yet capable of wielding such a force.

And yet, he smiled.

"Good… This means I still have a reason to grow."

The sky rumbled, as if acknowledging his resolve. The heavens knew—he would return, stronger than ever.

And when he did, even gods would tremble.
