A very loud, hearty chuckle erupted from Lewis Dushane to the bewilderment of the Miller's. Jordan furrowed his eyebrow, out of all the reactions he was expecting, this wasn't it. Did he think he was joking? Or perhaps, he'd gotten the information, before him. This was after all his city.
Jordan remained silent still, watching as the UK don's laughter died down to nothing, but his eyes still danced with amusement.
"I'm so sorry, if you came all this way to tell me this, then I must say, you've wasted your precious time. Don Jordan, if I had a dollar for every time someone marked my son, then I'd be having a lifetime's fortune tucked away in some piggy-bank."
Jordan sighed, he almost felt pity for the man, he thought this was just another random opposition trying their luck against them.
"Listen yeah?" Lewis continued, ''Harry is… he is like a magnet for trouble, he is a proper judge, so of course he would have people marking him in every direction, and he runs the mafia too you know. He would have been the one attending to you, but man had to run some errands you know, this ain't the first time he's got marked innit, and I'm sure it won't be the last.'' He gulped the last drop of his wine.
''So don Jordan, thank you for the update, but honestly you could have just sent a letter"
He smiled, as he was about to stand up and leave Jordan's next words hit him like a brick, fear evident in his eyes, although he tried to hide it.
''The fuck you telling man! Huh?'' his voice rang out.
Jordan kept his cool, he understood the man was lashing out, out of fear so, he repeated himself.
"I said this isn't some random marking, whoever your son has pissed off this time, wants him dead. He is a target for the hollow.''
Jordan's words held weight, and like gravity, pulled Lewis back down on his woven chair.
"Where and how did you get that information?'' he asked.
Lewis was amazed at the vastness of the young don's network , yet, he couldn't help but wonder, if this was all a trap. How had they gotten that information past him, right under his nose. This was his own ends, and the fact that an outsider had more informants, more competent informants than him, didn't sit right with him.
Jordan smirked, "I have my ways".
Lewis made a soft hmmn, he wasn't expecting the young don to divulge that information anyways.
"If, let's say I do believe this yarn, surely, you're not expecting anything more than a thank you for this valuable information, don Jordan." Lewis stated.
His voice laced with doubt. He believed in his heart that the Miller's wanted something, or maybe it was all a trap, to lure him and his son out to extirpate them. Perhaps he was working with his opps, maybe his opps thought the words of an outsider would hold some meaning, some weight.
Jordan studied the man, he knew that look in his face all too well, he's worn that look countless times himself. A coke sniff gesture, left leg thrown over his right knee, he assured the suspicious man.
"Best believe I expect something more than a thank you" he clenched his jaw for this next part, "seeing as I know when and where the hollow will strike.''
Lies! His mind taunted him, for all he knew, the hollow already completed their mission as they spoke, but the dark-haired man didn't know that. So, with a straight face, and a still clenched jaw, he continued.
"Now there's a safe place for your son to hide, where the hallow wouldn't dare to come, I can provide that space, and all I ask in return is that you join me, be my ally in this brewing war."
"Do tell me don Jordan, where is this safe space the hollow wound not dare to come?" Lewis asked.
Jordan leaned towards the older man, "My house, don Dushane."
For a minute Lewis thought the young man was joking, when he clicked that he was in fact, serious, he thought him to be mad.
"Your house? Your ends?? I should let my son follow you back to your ends, where only your rules apply, I should shoot you right now innit!" He barked.
Jordan sighed.
"If I had ulterior motives, don Dushane I'm sure that you know, that you and your entire mafia would have been eradicated by now."
The armed men surrounding them moved closer upon hearing the threat, their guns pointed at the three guests situated in the middle. Lewis's focus remained solely on the young don as he raised his hand slightly to ease his men. The news of the young don who exterminated the strongest mafia, spread widely in the underworld. Lewis knew it was better for everyone to not test his patience.
"We all know the hollow would finish her mission no matter what, you talk big, but I would bet my life on the hollow to come to your ends, or any ends to finish their mission." Lewis stated the very obvious fact.
Jordan knew that, he smirked before saying "I am counting on that".
Everyone looked towards him in bewilderment, as if he had grown two heads. Alyssa knew her brother doesn't follow logic, but this tops it for her. Disrupting the hollow's mission was one case, but, bringing death to their front door? What the hell is wrong with him! she screamed at him in her head, but maintained a somewhat calm posture on the outside.
Jordan didn't disclose everything to his sister, and right-hand man but, that has been the plan all along, to lure the hollow out into his city, to his place, so he would capture them, and sway them to his side. The hollow without a leash was dangerous, to everyone, and this war had already ended before it even began if anyone could hire the hollow as they wished. He planned on buying the hollow's loyalty, since they worked for the highest bidder, he would offer them a bid that they or anyone could never resist.
