Chapter 3 - Sokyro House

I took some time to recollect what had happened to me in the last few minutes. First and foremost, I got into some weird place, with no light, nothing and the only thing that became a solace for me in that place turned out to be buggy.

The player window had been the only known factor which I could have tweaked with my own ability, but I had to go with my curiosity and click on the random button.

"This."

I looked at the curious rabbits that ran past me, weird little creatures with four ears. At Least the world seems harmless, as of now.

Then I was pulled by some sort of fishing line, and I fell through a portal. That does sound a bit too peculiar even for the game's taste.

I could actually agree with the creator's artistic liberty, I didn't have complain for that. But at least, make it more bearable. The sudden yank had caught me holding onto my heart, for I have been fearful of the experience.

And then this world. I have to agree that even with all the past standards of the game I have played, this game offers a very good sense of immersiveness. The game had warned me specially about it and it has delivered well beyond what I could have expected.

I mean I could literally smell things more clearly, as if the world itself had more to offer than what I was used to in the real world. It was as if some kind of disability has been cured suddenly, one which I didn't know even existed.

Yet there were things too that troubled me.

I wasn't in control of my body when I took steps at the edge of the cliff. I hope I have been paranoid, otherwise, it felt like someone strongly wanted to jump down the hill.

I shook my head from side to side, to get rid of the sensation. It had felt too real, and at the same time I had felt despair.

Anyways, now that I was free. I had to look at what the game offered to me as help.

[Player Window]

[Name - Seken Sokyro]

[Race - Human]

[Description - Second child of the First hand of Sokyro Family. From a young age, Seken had been…]

I couldn't read further into the description. At Least I got some information out of it.

There was no health bar, nor any kind of other description. I had to make do with whatever I had.

Then I searched for other things, were there other tools that I could use at my disposal, something that will help in the mission. Recalling the mission the same screen opened again.

[Mission Objective - Survive]

I felt my veins throbbing in my head. This useless game hadn't even bothered to explain the mission clearly. I shook away the thoughts and walked around the place.

There was a trail, a very small one that must have been the result of people trailing often to the path. I was determined to take it as my cue towards the next destination. But before I left, I took a look at the hills.

My eyes grew wide, and I couldn't help but smile at what happened next. A yellow mark appeared around the hills and suddenly I was looking at the screen again.

[Misty Scales Hill Formation]

[Description - A very ancient formation of hills that have existed even before the makings of the chambers. These hills bear with them the many battles that have been fought throughout the histories…]

"It will come in handy."

There was a small smirk on my face, as I took strides toward the path downhill.

I didn't have to walk long before I was confronted by two people in guard uniform. They wore leather armor around the torso, with a crest of glowing sword in the left of the chest section. At first glance, they weren't hostile to me, so I was able to relax my guard.

Two Similar screens opened, when I focused on their yellow outline. The first was a man well in his 30's with long hair running down his back.

[Name - Renad Mills]

[Affiliation - Sokyro House]

[Description - Guard…]

[Favorability - Neutral]

The other was a woman, she looked to be in her 20's. And I had the impression she wasn't too friendly with me, looking at the way, she seemed to carry her disgust in her eyes.

And looking at the window it was confirmed too.

[Name - Meana]

[Affiliation - Sokyro House]

[Description - One of Seken's mother guards. She is well known to have the favour of her master…]

[Favorability - Hostile]

That confirms it.

"Young Master, you shouldn't be roaming around when it's almost time for Tributary." Renad said, with a frown on his face. It seems I was late for some event.

But then she spoke.

"How many times has it been made clear to not roam around the back hills. Master will not take this lightly. It is almost time for tributaries, otherwise I would have made sure to teach you myself." Meana said. There was this shrillness in her tone and the open hostility with which she addressed me.

I frowned for a moment.

That wasn't how one would treat the son of your employee. There was something even more deep that I wasn't getting aware of.

But for the moment, I had to be sure I wasn't aggravating them.

"I am sorry" I took a very slight bow. I wasn't even sure if it was accepted here.

I said continuing.

"I was taking a look at the Misty Scales Hill that I hadn't been aware of passing time."

Looking at my soft spoken demeanor, The male guard nodded, and even the female guard had no choice but to glare at me silently. After all, one must be careful when addressing your employees son.

I continued downhills. I looked at the two guards, who were progressively much faster than me, and seemed to be taking steps as light as a feather.

I could only run behind them.

A few minutes later, while I was huffing around and trying to catch my breath. I came face to face with a woman.

She seemed to be grinding her teeth while looking at me. At first glance I knew I was related to her.

[Name - Variasa Takon]

[Affiliation - Takon]

[Description - Seken's Mother and the wife of First Hand of Sokyro, 'Kardal'. Renowned for her activity around the House Hall and is known for her active political involvement in the house.

She hails from Takon House, which is known for their Trade business. Her being born a female, she was quickly dethroned from the race of leadership and married in Sokyro for involvement between the two houses.

She now tries to keep the image of Sokyro House in utmost delight. Dissatisfied with her son, for not having the pathways to learn the ways of sword…]

[Favorability - Not Available]

That was too much information about my mother. I mean the other Seken's mother. Was I really confusing things?

And then I felt my hands tingle, my first instinct had been that I must have missed her. But then I noticed my breath leaving my body, it felt like all the coldness in the world had come and assimilated within me.

I looked at her again. This time, my eyes shook on their own and then I understood.

I feared her. No.

'Seken' feared her.

But why would he fear his own mother?
