I gathered all the things I had found into a huge barrel and used the power of the Bane Bane no Mi fruit to move it. The barrel was heavy, but with the help of my spring-like legs, I easily jumped up and caught it as if it were empty. Using quick jumps and maneuvers, I moved the barrel through the forest without much effort.
When I finally reached the forest with the full load, I landed on the ground and left the barrel in place. Everything I needed to set up a shelter was now with me. I could continue the construction without wasting time on long, hard transports.
"Although it was a mistake, in the future, I had to carry a lot."
Now I need to find a giant tree that will serve as a support. I didn't have to wander long, as the forest was literally gigantic.
I took to the air, using the Bane Bane no Mi fruit to fly higher and get a better view of the tree from different angles. It stood deep in the forest, surrounded by tall but not very large trees, which made it the perfect choice for a shelter.
This tree was so big that any shelter built in its branches would remain unseen by passersby. I jumped down to the ground and ran to the trunk, examining it from all sides. Its bark was tough but not too hard, which made the work easier.
The branches were already starting to grow thick, and I realized this was the perfect spot for building a shelter. It would not only hide me from view but also provide enough space for my home.
Using the power of the fruit, I jumped around the tree, surveying it and thinking about how I could maximize its use for my shelter. My spring-like legs helped me move up and down the trunk and branches until I found the perfect spot for my future construction.
I decided to start with the upper branches—the higher, the harder it would be to discover my shelter.
I stopped on one of the highest branches, where I had a view of the entire city and the ocean ahead. Here, I could build a shelter hidden from everyone and watch the ships coming in!
The shelter needed to be hidden, but at the same time strong enough to withstand the whims of the weather. The first thing I did was tie the barrels and boxes I had found to the tree, creating makeshift platforms for my work.
Each platform was an additional step for the house I was building. The entire construction process took several days, and every morning I started by gathering the necessary materials. I continued to use boards, ropes, and pieces of old sails to strengthen and conceal my structure.
"Eventually, by the end of the construction, the dump outside the city had significantly decreased."
The first two days were spent working on the main platform. I carefully reinforced several thick branches that were meant to serve as the foundation and used old boards to create the base. Ropes and nets from old shipwrecks were used to weave and strengthen the structure, adding extra durability.
From time to time, I used the Bane Bane no Mi fruit to lift heavy objects to the necessary height. This allowed me to move even the most cumbersome parts of the construction without spending time lifting them manually.
Thanks to my spring-like legs, I could jump from branch to branch, quickly scanning the tree and checking where additional elements were needed.
On the third day, I focused on building the walls and roof. For this, I used the same boards and old sails to create a shelter that would protect me from the rain and wind.
I climbed higher to build the roof on the highest branches, where the shelter would be less noticeable. The tree's branches served as a solid frame, and I didn't need much time to stretch and secure the fabric at these heights.
Over the next few days, I continued to strengthen and improve the structure. I added extra elements for comfort: a floor that could be made from large boards and small storage spaces for supplies, using old barrels and boxes.
When the work was almost complete, I found myself in a fully functional shelter, safe and hidden from prying eyes.
The last few days were mostly spent on construction. At the same time, I continued to gather fruits and sell them to that same merchant.
However, with each passing time, she became more demanding, but it was worth it — now I had around seven thousand beli in my hands, I thought, as I settled more comfortably in my new treehouse.
I finished the wild boar meat yesterday. From the old house where I had previously lived, I took only the essentials: a frying pan, a knife, and a dusty mattress. It wasn't exactly luxury, but it was all I had for now.
Building the shelter turned out to be no easy task.
I had to not only haul boards and tools, but also constantly use the power of my fruit to climb the tree and maintain my balance. A few times I slipped and fell, but my ability to turn into a spring saved me from serious injuries. Still, every such fall ended with a couple of bruises and scraped hands.
Now my main goal is to start proper training.
The house is almost ready, food is still enough — it's time to focus on the very thing all of this was for: developing strength, control, and endurance. Only then will I be able to use my fruit to its full potential.
And over this time, I've started to understand better how it works.
The more I "compress" my legs, the more energy builds up. If I suddenly release it, it creates a catapult effect.
It's important to control the compression time because if I hold too long, my muscles tire, and the effectiveness drops. If I release too soon, there isn't enough energy, and the jump turns out weak. It's like stretching a bowstring: you have to feel the moment and release it at the right time.
I started noticing that the angle of my legs when I launch changes the trajectory. If my toes point downward, I fly forward, but if they're angled slightly to the side, I get pushed sideways.
When my legs are parallel to the ground, I can even jump backward, almost like bouncing off.It turns out I can literally change the trajectory mid-air by using repeated bounces — from the ground, tree, walls, anything around me.
This isn't just jumping; it's maneuverability at speed. At one point, I even accidentally jumped over a river when I bounced off the water. I didn't understand how it happened, but soon I realized: if I compress my legs in mid-air and sharply direct the recoil downward and sideways, I can push off again in the air.
It was unstable, but possible. If I develop this moment, I could literally fly using bounces, like "geppo."
I also discovered that I can manipulate the part of my body I transform, for example, to spin it, and control it almost like a regular limb.
However, no matter how hard I tried, nothing is without flaws.
The recoil force doesn't come for free.
If I suddenly shoot sideways, my body experiences immense strain. In the first days of using the fruit, I injured my ankles, hips, and back when I landed poorly. The spring saved me from serious damage, but it doesn't make me invincible.
To use my fruit effectively, I need to train not only my jumps but also strengthen my body so it can handle the overloads, accelerations, and inertia. Otherwise, I'll just break at the most inconvenient moment.
