Chapter 23 - Chapter 24:

Once again, thank you so much David for being my first patron!

Chapter 24

"Come and see! Tang San and Lin Bai are about to fight!"

A crowd of students gathered on the grass, forming a tight circle. Some stood on tiptoes, eager to witness the match.

Tang San stood calmly, his expression as deep as still water. He spoke concisely.

"Tang San, Martial Spirit: Blue Silver Grass. Seventeenth-level control-type battle spirit master."

A murmur spread through the students.

"Hiss—seventeenth level already? Hasn't it been less than a year and a half since he awakened his spirit?"

"That's the power of full innate soul force. He could probably graduate right now!"

Ignoring the chatter, Tang San summoned his Blue Silver Grass. After absorbing the Mandala Snake Soul Ring, his martial spirit had mutated into a vine-like form, glowing blue in the sunlight.

Across from him, Lin Bai spoke in a relaxed tone.

"Lin Bai, Martial Spirit: Ruyi Golden Needle. Twentieth-level assault-type battle soul master."

Some students were shocked.

"Wait, isn't that supposed to be a healing-type martial spirit?"

"Looks like it evolved… But how is his soul power higher than Tang San's? He's so lazy most of the time!"

Golden needles floated in Lin Bai's hand, their sharp edges gleaming. Looking directly at them stung the eyes, sending a subtle warning to the spirit.

The ultimate metallic attribute.

If Lin Bai fully unleashed the power of his Ruyi Qiankun Spear, Tang San's Blue Silver Grass wouldn't even be able to approach. After all, metal restrained wood, just as fire did.

Tang San frowned slightly. *His martial spirit has changed… and he's also full innate soul power. But why is his cultivation so much higher?*

The last time he saw Lin Bai's martial spirit, the golden needles weren't this sharp, nor did they carry such an intimidating aura. He narrowed his eyes. A faint purple glow flickered within—his Purple Demon Eye activating, protecting his spirit and neutralizing most of the suppression from Lin Bai's spear.

Then, without warning, Tang San moved.

His figure flickered like a ghost, his steps unpredictable.

Lin Bai's eyes sharpened. He was powerful, but his reaction speed wasn't his strong suit. Without using mental power, he couldn't accurately track Tang San's movements.

*Then I won't try to track him.*

He calmly raised three golden needles, flicking his wrist to send them flying in different directions.

*Three paths of attack…*

Tang San's sharp gaze locked onto them. The sound of the needles cutting through the air was faint but lethal. He kicked off the ground, leaping high to avoid them.

While airborne, his fingers flicked the leaves of his Blue Silver Grass using a special technique.

*Scattering Flowers!*

A rain of leaves shot toward Lin Bai.

Lin Bai remained composed. Holding a golden needle in each hand, his soul power surged. The needles expanded, transforming into two gleaming golden short spears.

With a powerful swing, the spears clashed against each other, creating a sharp ringing sound. A wave of metallic force erupted, shredding all the incoming leaves and scattering them into nothingness.

But the attack wasn't over. The shockwave surged forward, rushing straight at Tang San.

Tang San's expression tightened. His left foot twisted, and his right leg exploded with soul power, twisting midair to dodge at an impossible angle.

A sharp whistling sound followed. The ground where he had stood was stripped bare, as if devoured by invisible insects. Only the surrounding Blue Silver Grass remained untouched.

*That ability…* Tang San's heart sank. Lin Bai's attack wasn't just sharp—it had an annihilation effect, a devouring trait linked to the dark attribute. He had underestimated him.

Adjusting his stance, Tang San gathered more Blue Silver Grass in his fingers and launched them in irregular patterns. The blades of grass drifted unpredictably, as if carried by the wind.

Lin Bai's eyes gleamed. He sensed the sharpness hidden within the leaves.

Instead of dodging, he stepped forward, raising his right arm. His back muscles flexed as he threw his short spear. The golden light flashed, forcing Tang San to halt.

At the same time, the spear in his left hand grew, extending to nearly two meters—the perfect length for him. Gripping it with both hands, he spun it in a dazzling display, tearing through the incoming leaves with ease.

He wasn't done. Lin Bai's footwork shifted, executing a series of graceful movements. His body flowed like a dragon swimming through the river, pressing forward with oppressive force.

Tang San clenched his fists. He felt the pressure closing in and resisted the urge to use his hidden weapons.

His yellow spirit ring flickered. The ground beneath Lin Bai trembled as thick Blue Silver Grass vines burst forth, coiling toward his legs.

Lin Bai's pace faltered slightly, but he didn't panic.

He swung his Ruyi Qiankun Spear. The golden spearhead didn't even touch the vines—but the sheer force of his soul power was enough to sever them. The Blue Silver Grass crumbled into fragments.

A warning flared in his mind.

*Behind!*

He twisted his waist and raised his spear just in time to block Tang San's powerful kick.

Tang San had used his falling momentum to enhance the attack, but Lin Bai barely budged. His arm muscles tensed, and with a simple motion, he flung Tang San backward.

Tang San flipped midair, landing with a grim expression.

*His strength is insane… Is he really just an assault-type spirit master?*

Realizing he couldn't win in a head-on clash, Tang San regretted not using stronger hidden weapons.

Lin Bai, however, was losing interest. Tang San was slippery—too reliant on movement and tricks. The fight had become tedious.

"Let's end this in one strike."

His yellow soul ring flared. The first ability of the Ruyi Qiankun Spear activated—Sharp Edge. The spearhead glowed, its sharpness enhanced by 50%.

Lin Bai thrust his spear forward. The golden light cut through the air like lightning.

Tang San's pupils shrank. The attack was too fast to dodge.

Once again thank you David for being my first patron!

Chapter 24:

His mind raced. If Lin Bai had aimed at his head, he would have thought he intended to kill him. Even so, the sheer force behind it was overwhelming.

Under intense pressure, Tang San unleashed everything he had. He twisted, using Ghost Shadow Steps, while his Blue Silver Grass wrapped around him for protection. He even resorted to hidden weapons, throwing bone-piercing nails, plum blossom darts, and throwing knives to wear down the incoming spear strike.

But Lin Bai's spear light wasn't so easily stopped. Each concealed weapon was cut apart effortlessly, the edges smooth as a mirror.

Just when it seemed unavoidable—

A deep, commanding voice rang out.

"Fart like thunder, blast the sky with three cannons!"

Lin Bai's expression changed. Without hesitation, he executed a dragon step, squeezing through the crowd and escaping the battlefield.

A pig-like soul beast leaped into the grass, releasing a loud, noxious blast. Yellow-green gas spread across the field.

Coughs erupted everywhere.

"Ugh—what the hell?!"

"This is disgusting!"

Yu Xiaogang stepped forward, wearing a mask. His eyes darkened as he saw Tang San struggle. With a wave of his hand, the gunlight dissipated.

Then he turned to Lin Bai.

"You used an extremely dangerous attack during a sparring match. Do you intend to kill Tang San?"

Before Lin Bai could answer, Xiao Wu stepped in.

"Lin Bai knew what he was doing. Besides, Tang San is fast. He would've dodged."

Tang San's heart sank. *I fought for you, but you're defending him?*

Lin Bai simply shrugged, letting her speak for him.

Yu Xiaogang frowned. "Regardless, you should apologize."

Lin Bai met his gaze.

"Tang San challenged me. He should be ready to lose. Injuries are part of battle. I didn't aim for his vitals, so I don't owe him an apology."

He gestured at the students still groaning from the gas.

"If anyone should apologize, it's you, Master."

Yu Xiaogang's face stiffened. Under the glares of the students, he hesitated—then sighed.

"Fine. I apologize."

Tang San gritted his teeth as Yu Xiaogang helped him away.
