It had been almost a month since Fang Lin came to this world. According to the system, the 19th day of each lunar month was the lottery draw day, and now it was already the 15th day. The Mid - Autumn Festival on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month had arrived just like that.
This was the first festival Fang Lin had celebrated in this world.
The lay disciples were having lunch in the dining hall. The so - called reunion dinner on the Mid - Autumn Festival referred to the dinner in the evening. As for lunch, there were not so many rules. And these lay disciples had now become familiar with everyone in the Wudang Sect, so they naturally liked to gather and eat together.
Fang Lin was walking on the road. The stairs had been completely built, but Fang Lin hadn't planned to build the houses and other things yet. These could be built with the Construction Tokens, so there was no need to worry. Moreover, the things built with the Construction Tokens not only had some magical effects but were also extremely sturdy. He didn't know what materials they were made of.
At this moment, the Wudang Sect was decorated with lanterns and festoons. After all, it was a major festival and should be celebrated grandly. Big red lanterns were hung high, and there were also several pomelos hanging with incense on them, which were to be lit in the evening. These were all traditional customs. Feeling the gentle breeze, Fang Lin was also hungry, so he went to the dining hall to have a meal. Fang Lin had always been approachable and would always eat with everyone.
Unexpectedly, as soon as he entered, he found that the dining hall was very lively.
It turned out that since it was the Mid - Autumn Festival, everyone thought there should be some activities. The people present were all educated, and some were even scholars. So, they actually came up with the idea of composing poems. Since there had just been a light rain, they were going to compose a poem or a piece of poetry with the rain as the theme.
Fang Lin smiled slightly. He went to have a meal, and when he was almost done, everyone suddenly pulled him over, saying that he should participate with them.
Fang Lin was helpless, but he wasn't afraid either. After all, he was a liberal arts student. He was proficient in poetry, lyrics, and odes. Moreover, this world was roughly a parallel world to Earth, and the events that occurred were different. At least, people like Li Bai, Du Fu, and Su Shi had never appeared. So, at worst, he could be a "literary thief."
However, seeing Fang Lin looking confident, everyone suddenly changed the topic and said they wanted to write couplets, couplets for the Mid - Autumn Festival, and the best ones would be pasted on the Xuanyue Gate.
Although Fang Lin had never written any couplets in his life, he still had a good literary foundation and wasn't afraid. Everyone saw that the headmaster still looked confident, so they didn't change the topic again. Otherwise, it would be obvious that they were trying to make fun of the headmaster, although they really wanted to play a joke on him.
In everyone's opinion, although the headmaster was a divine being, it didn't mean that he was also talented and romantic in literature. So, taking advantage of the excitement, they wanted to see how capable the headmaster was.
Some of the couplets written were not very good and were eliminated one by one. In the end, the best ones were written by Li Yun, Song Yuanqiao, and Sanxin.
Fang Lin wasn't surprised that Sanxin wrote a good couplet. After all, Sanxin had loved reading books since childhood. As for Li Yun, the son of the county magistrate, he naturally wouldn't be bad. And Song Yuanqiao gave Fang Lin another pleasant surprise. The more Fang Lin looked at him, the more he liked this disciple.
Fang Lin first looked at Sanxin's couplet. The first line (upper couplet): "Yu yu hua xiang hua yu yu" (The rain bathes the flowers' fragrance, and the flowers bathe in the rain). The second line (lower couplet): "Feng mu feng ge feng mu feng" (The wind caresses the phoenix pavilion, and the phoenix caresses the wind). The horizontal scroll: "Feng hua qiu yue" (Wind, Flowers, Autumn Moon).
Fang Lin thought Sanxin's couplet was quite good. After all, it was very neat and beautiful, and it was indeed well done. Moreover, the horizontal scroll "Feng hua qiu yue" was very appropriate because the upper couplet had "flowers" and the lower couplet had "wind," and it was the Mid - Autumn Festival today, so "autumn moon" was also suitable.
Fang Lin praised it. He thought Sanxin was good, but he always felt that this couplet didn't sound very catchy when read.
Then he looked at Song Yuanqiao's couplet, which was better than Sanxin's.The first line (upper couplet): "Yu da ping hu qian wan qu" (The rain beats on the calm lake with thousands of ripples). The second line (lower couplet): "Lei ming shan ling si wu sheng" (The thunder rumbles in the mountain with four or five sounds). The horizontal scroll: "Yu sheng lei yu" (The Sound of Rain and Thunder).
Compared with Sanxin's, Song Yuanqiao's couplet was indeed better, but Fang Lin still felt that the artistic conception was a little lacking.
Next was Li Yun's couplet. Li Yun was the son of the county magistrate and also the first place winner in the provincial examination, so he could be regarded as the top scholar among the scholars. The things he wrote naturally had some foundation.
As for couplets, they were generally adapted from poems or other works, but they had to be neatly antithetical and have an artistic conception, which was still quite difficult.
What Li Yun wrote was really excellent. The first line (upper couplet): "Liang an xiao yan yang liu lv" (On both banks, the morning mist shrouds the green willows). A beautiful scene appeared before their eyes. The second line (lower couplet): "Yi yuan chun yu xing hua hong" (In a garden, the spring rain makes the apricot flowers red). It could be said to be a masterpiece.
At this time, someone said that it was clearly the Mid - Autumn Festival, which was in autumn, but this couplet described spring. It was off - topic.
Fang Lin looked at Li Yun and knew that he wouldn't make such a低级 mistake. The key must be in the horizontal scroll. Then Li Yun smiled confidently and opened the horizontal scroll. The horizontal scroll: "Ren ping chun qiu" (Let People Comment on Spring and Autumn)!
It was really wonderful. Although it described spring, with the addition of "Ren ping chun qiu," it could pass the test, and the artistic conception also came out. Autumn seemed desolate, while spring was colorful. At this moment, in front of me, autumn was just like spring. It was really well written.
Li Yun had some literary skills.
Looking at Li Yun's couplet, Fang Lin praised it repeatedly. The structure was good, it was beautiful, and the artistic conception was also excellent. It was very positive and uplifting, and it was definitely a good work!
Fang Lin looked at everyone, and everyone looked at him. It seemed that he had to show some of his skills to subdue these young fellows and let them see what the realm of his literary talent and romantic charm as the headmaster was!
Fang Lin smiled slightly, and with a flick of his arm, the writing brush in his hand was soaked in ink. He didn't write the couplet directly but splashed ink to paint. In an instant, a painting appeared.
Fang Lin had now practiced the Flower Fist and had internal energy, so his arm was very flexible. He was originally a liberal arts student and also liked writing and painting. This painting was really vivid and had a profound artistic conception.
In the painting, a person wore a bamboo hat and a coir raincoat. It was raining heavily on the left side, while it was sunny on the right side.
Everyone was puzzled by the content of this painting.
Fang Lin smiled and waved the writing brush again. This time, he was going to get serious and start writing the couplet. The first line (upper couplet): "Zhu zhang mang xie qing sheng ma, shui pa, yi suo yan yu ren ping sheng" (A bamboo staff and straw sandals are lighter than horses. Who cares? With a coir raincoat, I'll face the misty rain for a lifetime).
Everyone was shocked. This upper couplet revealed boundless pride. Fang Lin smiled slightly. This wasn't nonsense. These were the words of Su Dongpo, the founder of the Bold and Unrestrained School of Ci Poetry. Of course, they were full of pride!
There were no punctuation marks in the couplet, but there was a space left, and it didn't detract from the artistic conception at all.
Fang Lin didn't stop his hand, and the lower couplet also appeared. The second line (lower couplet): "Hui shou xiang lai xiao se chu, gui qu, ye wu feng yu ye wu qing" (Looking back at the desolate place I've come from, when I return, there is neither wind nor rain, nor clear sky).
What a sense of vicissitudes this was. It seemed to express regret for past inaction.
The whole couplet wasn't particularly neatly antithetical, at least the first two sentences weren't. However, the artistic conception, pride, and that sense of vicissitudes were absolutely unprecedented, at least in this world.
Fang Lin accelerated again, and the horizontal scroll: "Ding feng bo" (Calming the Waves)!
Everyone present was shocked. Fang Lin's words were absolutely astonishing. What were the "waves" being calmed in "Ding feng bo"? Were they the waves in the heart, national affairs, or the common people of the world? No matter what, in terms of artistic conception, it was absolutely perfect!
Looking at the painting again, it felt different. At this moment, no one dared to say that their own works were good because they all understood that the headmaster's literary talent was as lofty as Tianzhu Peak!
I'm sorry, Su Shi. Fellow Taoists, please give me some recommendation tickets and bookmarks. I will pass them on to Su Shi later to comfort him.
