Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

What could have been their fate—

as they found themselves surrounded by a horde of terrifying creatures, growling and intimidating them from every side?

Jack : We're surrounded by them?

Eren : What can I do??

Will I die just like them?

Eren, at that time, was overthinking—lost in the fear of what his fate might be…

He stared at the creatures standing right in front of him, too scared to even move in that moment.

Eren : Noooo...

This can't end here for me...

Jack : Hey Eren... you ready?

Eren : Ready for what?

Jack : TOO RUN!

Just right after Jack said that, he immediately dashed toward the ladder.

That sudden action drew the creatures' eyes straight to him. They steadied themselves, ready to chase.

It snapped Eren out of his frozen state.

Eren : The fuck is he thinking to do?

He would get killed right away!

Wait... there's a wall cavity there?

That wall cavity caught Eren's eye.

He rushed toward it, seeking a hiding spot—lucky that none of the wolf-like creatures had noticed him yet.

Eren : Hope this turn out to be good a hiding spot for me!

I have no clue what would happen to him.

While hiding, Eren watched Jack sprint toward the ladder.

But something about it confused him—something didn't feel right.

Eren : Wasn't he running towards the ladder? How did he manage to come at this direction when I didn't even saw him.

Jack : C'mon you bastards! Wolves can run faster than an average human, so why are y'all not able catch me up!

Even though those creatures could run faster than an average human,

they still couldn't catch Jack.

Something about the way he moved—quick, unpredictable—kept him just out of their reach.

Jack spotted Eren hiding.

Without hesitation, he veered off, breaking the creatures' line of sight.

Silently, he crept toward the wall cavity.

Jack silently speaked in a whispering noise.

Jack : So you were hiding this entire time?

Eren : Yeah...

The creatures, confused after losing Jack's trail, growled in frustration.

Then, without warning, they turned back and vanished into the direction they had come from.

Jack : So they disappeared...

Both of them came out of the hiding spot they got from the wall cavity.

~"Phewww... that was close."

Eren : How were you able to manage to not get killed.

Jack : I was able to outrun them. Took a zig-zag path to confuse them and got them further away from my reach.

Then I saw you hiding in a spot so I came their silently without them noticing me.

Eren : Are you an athlete by any chance?

Jack : Nope.

However I may have some bad news here.

While fleeing, Jack realized something strange—

No matter how far he ran, the ladder never got closer.

It felt like an endless void stretched between him and it… as if the ladder didn't exist at all.

Jack : When I was running towards the ladder. I never came closer to it. It's not like it was pushing me away since I was still out of those creatures reach.

Eren : So you're saying that we can't use the ladder right now to escape?

Jack : No clue...

Eren : Then let's test it out.

Eren moved toward the ladder—it was clearly in sight.

But as he walked, a strange feeling crept in.

Step after step, the distance never changed.

That's when he realized—he wasn't getting any closer.

Eren : You're true I guess.

Jack : Welp, guess we have to go to another direction. But also, what's your name?

Eren : Eren Fritzwerld.

Jack : The name's Jack Vetragoad. Let's team up so we could escape this terrifying place.

Eren : Sure then.

Jack : We'll head to the direction where those creatures went to.

Eren : Let's go then.

Both of them decided to follow the path the creatures had taken.

***

After some time, they stumbled upon three separate entrances—each leading down a different path, dark and unknown.

Eren : There's three directions... where should we go next?

Jack : Hey Eren, I didn't realized this during whole time but you brought a pickaxe along with yourself?

Eren : Oh yeah... I brought one from the bag that was lying down on the ground at that place.

Jack : Good things. We can now mine those crystals.

Jack pointed toward the crystals on the wall.

He had noticed—they were acting like torches, glowing faintly and lighting the path as they moved through the darkness.

Jack : Those things could work like a torch.

Eren : Alright then, grab the pickaxe out of my bag and mine them.

Jack pulled a pickaxe from Eren's bag and struck it into the crystals.

He mined cleanly—chunks broke off just right, still glowing, ready to be used like torches.

Jack : Here, have one yourself.

Eren : Thanks.

Jack : So which way should we go?

Eren stood still, debating which path to take.

Then suddenly—from the left-side entrance—strange noises echoed out.

It hinted at something lurking down that path… something alive.

Eren : We shouldn't go to the left side entrance.

Jack : That leaves the middle and the right side ones.

Eren hesitated, weighing their options, and chose to eliminate the right entrance.

But just then, Jack glanced toward it—

and caught a glimpse of something moving in the shadows.

Jack : Hey Eren.

Eren : What is it?

Jack : Can we remove right side entrance as an option? I think I saw something moving in some distance.

Eren : That leaves...

Jack : The middle entrance.

Eren : Alright then... should we move in?

Jack : Let's move in.

Eren and Jack stepped into the middle entrance, leaving the others behind as the darkness swallowed them whole.

***

After a while, Jack checked his phone—surprisingly, it was still working.

He tried calling someone, but deep down, he knew... there likely weren't any signals in this place.

Eren : You know this is a tunnel of different dimension?

Wait... is this a different dimension?

Jack : Yeah, I know. But it isn't a bad thing to give it a try.

Eren : Hey look over there.

In the distance, they spotted a huge door—towering and ominous, waiting in silence.

Eren : Let's go over there.

They approached the massive door and tried to push it open—

but it was firmly locked, refusing to budge.

Jack : Well, it's locked.

Eren : We need a key to open it.

Just then, part of the wall near the door crumbled slightly—

revealing something shiny glinting in the dim light.

~"Woah"

From the crumbled wall, two daggers dropped—

one glowing red, the other glowing blue, both pulsing with a mysterious energy.

Eren : Why are these things hiding in the walls?

And why is their two of them?

Jack : Well, who knows. But the question is why did these daggers came out of the walls? It's not like they are keys of the door.

Jack picked up the glowing daggers.

Despite knowing they weren't keys, he tried inserting them into the door—

as if hoping for some hidden mechanism to react.

Jack : Well, it didn't work.

Eren's eyes widened—something clicked in his mind.

He might know a way to find the key to that massive door…

but deep down, he knew—it wouldn't be safe.

Eren : Hey Jack, I think I might know a way on how to get the keys.

Jack : What is it?

Eren : It might be dangerous...

Jack's grip on the daggers tightened, a flicker of fear crossing his face—

Eren's words echoed: the path to the key... was dangerous.

Jack : Well, tell it then.

Eren : We might need to go back and search those two remaining entrances to search for the keys.

Jack : And while searching it, we would stumble upon those creatures again?

Eren : Exactly...

Jack gets the idea of Eren.

Jack : Welp guess we have no choice. However there's also a reason why these two daggers came out of the walls.

Without a word, Jack extended the glowing blue dagger toward Eren—

a silent gesture of trust, and readiness for whatever lay ahead.

Jack : We would have to battle those creatures while we search for the key to unlock this door.

It doesn't matter if you're weak or strong. Both of us wants to escape this place don't we?

Eren : It doesn't matter if I am weak or strong?

Eren's mind flooded with sudden thoughts the moment Jack spoke—

doubts, fears, and the weight of what might come next.

Eren : I have always been weak... I am a dependable person who is depended on others. Why would I want to take these type of weights? I would die in this process.

Jack : You good there?

Eren snapped out of his mind.

Eren : Oh right... am good.

Jack : Alright then, let's go back and search for the keys.

Eren : Very well then.

***

After some time, they returned to the spot with the three entrances—

emerging quietly from the middle path, the air heavier than before.

Jack : Well, we might not know what danger lies ahead on these entrances. But, if we want to escape.

It's better to face the fear.

Eren : Right...

Jack : So Eren. Which entrance should we chose?

Eren : Why are you asking me?

Jack : Cuz whichever options I chose which don't have a correct answer for will always get me incorrect in terms of choosing the option.

So that's why I am asking you to choose which entrance we should choose.

Eren : Alright then...

Eren didn't know what Jack saw in the right entrance,

but he remembered the strange noises from the left.

He was certain—both paths held deadly creatures.

Yet, he knew… the fear had to be faced.

Eren : Although am weak, I must come out alive for him. I know I have gotten that old man to worry about me!

Suddenly, Eren's thoughts drifted to his caretaker—

the one who raised him.

A pang of guilt hit him,

knowing that right now… he might be worried sick.

Eren : Just wait for me a little! I am coming back safely.

I am choosing to go to the left entrance.

Jack : Very well then. Let's head into it.

Without hesitation, Jack stepped toward the left entrance—

trusting Eren's choice, no questions asked.

Eren : Guess it's time for me to face the fear.

I'm Moving In.
