Chapter 7 - Just keep looking

General POV

"You imbeciles!" Came the loud roar of a man flipping the contents of the table. He raged at the men in suits all lined up in front of him with their heads respectfully bowed.

He had a little Italian accent in his tone as he hissed in disdain and cussed at the men in front of him.

"How are you supposed to tell me that you have no idea where the Alpha is? You're supposed to be the best with your nose yet you come to me with excuses up your asses. What is this?"

He raged, his breath ragged and his appearance disoriented as he creased his eyebrows.

"What am I going to tell the chairman?" He asked, shoving his fingers through his hair. "No, what am I going to tell the elders. They will have my neck! I will lose my place as a Beta, and my Lord, where in the world could he be? What if the pursuers got him?"

His face continued to wrinkle in worry and disturbance.

This man was Rhaegar, a Beta with beautiful blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, and also a shapeshifter. He is the second in command in the Moon pack, right after the Alpha.

He grew up with him, was with him every step of the way, and was not working as his secretary in the company and his Beta in the pack.

At that moment, he had gotten news that the guards had lost track of their Alpha, who had been attacked by unknown men in the middle of the night.

Losing the Alpha was one thing but not being able to find him was another big hurdle entirely. The guards were specialized breeds who were as good as search dogs, yet they could not even find him.

If word got out, not only the pack but the company being managed by him would go into turmoil.

"We are superior breeds. We are werewolves... How can an attack befall Alpha Noah under our noses?" He grabbed the edge of the table, and his fangs popped out, and he scratched the table. "It's simply unacceptable!" He growled and finally destroyed the table.

He panted, staring at the mess he had made, and then sighed, placing his hand on his face in worry.

"Sir, if I may," one of the guards spoke up. "I believe there was a conspiracy in sue. Someone tipped the enemy of our location."

"But that doesn't explain how they were able to injure Alpha Noah." Rhaegar said. "Even if it were a surprise attack, he's been trained to withstand such things. So, I don't understand."

The guards went silent. He did not know what to say anymore and kept his head bowed.

Rhaegar's phone started ringing. As soon as he saw who the caller was, his eyebrows furrowed and he sighed. He looked up at the guards and waved them off.

"Just keep looking." He said. "Make sure to check the surveillance cameras as well. We must find our Alpha by all means,"

"Yes sir!" They all made their way out and Rhaegar adjusted his suit.

He also made his way out heading towards the elevator and going to the first floor. The very top of the company building.

Taking in deep breaths, he watched the elevator doors open, and what greeted him were several men, shapeshifters like him, with thick black shades on.

"This way,"

Though Noah was the Alpha of the moon pack and was currently running the company, his father, the chairman, and the former Alpha, still had a lot of control in all affairs.

He had joined the council of elders, so all decisions made by his son needed to go through him. That is until he felt his son was strong enough to hand over all authority to him.

Rhaegar entered the dark office, his eyes first traveling towards the curtains that had covered up the entire see-through wall, leaving only a tidbit of light to steal its way into the room from the bottoms.

"Rhaegar Agress," The chairman's voice called out and Rhaegar bowed his head, his hand in front of him to show respect.

"Yes, sir?"

"Where is my son?"

The Chairman's voice was harsh, cold, and, at the same time, still.

Rhaegar felt cold sweat sliding down the corners of his face. His heart raced at that question, knowing he had no answer to it.

"Sir, we are on the move, looking for Alpha Noah," he answered, not daring to raise his head.

From where he stood, he could feel the Chairman's angry gaze on him. Like a sharp knife ready to rip his throat, his gaze was petrifying, and Rhaegar's body froze.

Was he going to punish him for his incompetence?

"Hm," Rhaegar flinched. "Is he dead?"

"N-not confirmed, sir." He answered, his voice stuttering in fear. "I believe he is not dead. Alpha Noah is not that weak. He will not go down that easily."

"Thankfully, then..." The chairman said. "Raise your head, Rhaegar." He ordered, and Rhaegar slowly raised his head. At that same time, the curtains were raised, exposing the bright light from outside and blinding him. "Do not close your eyes."

The order was precise and Rhaegar, who had just gotten used to the darkness, was finding it hard to keep his eyes open as staring at the sudden brightness felt like staring directly at the sun.

But as the soldier he was trained to be, his eyes were wide open, taking in the brightness.

The chairman watched him with a displeased expression and said,

"Find my son, and maybe I won't have to permanently destroy your sight." He said and the curtains fell again. "Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes, sir." Rhaegar bowed his head, taking this opportunity to shut his eyes from the sting. "I will take my leave now, sir."

"You may leave."

Rhaegar raised his head and turned around. He walked out the door, past the guards, and towards the elevator. Once he was inside, he clicked his tongue in disdain and took out his handkerchief to clean his eyes.

They were stinging so badly.

"I have to find him," he hissed under his breath. "And once I do, all this will be over."
