Chapter 83: My Turn, My Turn, Still My Turn

"By the gods, is that a bear? How could a bear possibly be that big?"

The black shadow was a giant bear, but its size dwarfed any bear anyone present had ever seen.

Even when it was crawling on all fours, it was as tall as a two-story building. If it stood on its hind legs, its height would be even more astonishing.

Its black fur was covered in mud and dried blood, but more notably, a massive sword was embedded in its neck.

As it ran, the giant sword stuck in its neck swayed back and forth.

No one knew how this thing was still alive.

With such severe injuries, any monster should have died long ago.

"Get ready!"

Shock was barely concealed on Sir Royce's face, and his mouth was filled with bitterness.

Although his men quickly recovered from their initial panic, ten shields formed a shield wall.

However, the knight was very clear.

This shield wall might not even withstand a single impact.

But there was no choice.

They couldn't run.

Although the giant bear was enormous, its speed was unbelievably fast.

They wouldn't be able to outrun it on foot.

Since that was the case, they might as well fight with all their might.

A voice came from behind, instantly making Sir Royce's mood as bright as the sun breaking through the clouds.

"Sir Knight, have your men protect the sorceress and the others and fall back."

Two Superior Northern Wind bombs drew beautiful parabolas, landing accurately to the left and right of the charging giant bear.

The huge shockwaves produced by the explosions temporarily stunned the giant bear, causing it to deviate from its original direction and staggeringly crash into several large trees in the other direction.

Trees that would have required several people to encircle were easily snapped by the giant bear.

It laboriously got up from the ground, shaking its head.

It seemed not to understand what had just happened.

At this moment, a figure approached from behind it.

Thwack!

The master-crafted silver sword pierced into the giant bear's standing hind leg, twisting forcefully.

"Awooo—!"

The earth-shattering roar made the retreating group painfully cover their ears.

Lynn, who was close at hand, naturally didn't feel any better.

But he still endured the pain that felt like it would pierce his eardrums, rolling forward to avoid the giant bear's backhanded swipe of its sharp claws.

He dodged back and forth under the giant bear's belly, adding several more wounds to its two hind legs.

Not a single drop of blood flowed from these wounds, as if it had all dried up long ago.

The intense pain finally made the giant bear realize how troublesome the witcher was.

It exerted force with all four limbs, and its mountain-like body actually lifted off the ground.

It didn't fly very high, and then it fell with even greater force.

When the giant bear's exaggerated body collided with the ground,

the sound of a heavy artillery shell exploding suddenly rang out.

The earthquake spread out in all directions from the point where the giant bear landed, and the ground shattered like tofu.

But the witcher had jumped up just as the giant bear was about to hit the ground.

While avoiding this earth-shattering blow, his body spun like a top, quickly passing over the giant bear's back and cutting a deep gash.

The group that had retreated to a safe distance watched the great battle in the forest with horror.

Sir Royce asked himself, if he had fought the giant bear, he wouldn't have lasted this long at all and would have been killed by the giant bear.

Even if his ten subordinates joined in, it wouldn't change the outcome of being slaughtered.

Tyrion and his caravan guards were even more ashen-faced.

If they had encountered such a monster, they would only have been able to run.

And they might not even have been able to escape.

The bard Marillian, although as pale as the others with fright,

still had excitement and agitation written all over his face.

Finally, there was a song he could compose.

The fierce battle in the forest continued.

"Igni!" The Superior Petri's Philter he had drunk earlier strengthened the witcher's sign, causing the flames to burn fiercely the moment they touched the fur.

Lynn, who had intended to press his attack, suddenly his pupils constricted sharply.

His body, which had been charging forward, suddenly leaped backward.

Almost the instant he jumped away,

a heavy giant sword stained with rotten flesh heavily slashed at the spot where he had just stood.

It slammed deeply into the mud.

It turned out that the giant bear had sensed danger and forcibly pulled out the giant sword embedded in its neck.

The giant bear didn't understand swordsmanship.

It was purely relying on brute force.

But it was this chaotic, unskilled swinging and hacking that created a storm in the forest.

Large trees snapped in agony, rocks were crushed into powder, the ground was cut with shocking ravines, and dust filled the air.

No matter how brave a knight was, they couldn't contend with such power.

But in this terrifying storm of blades, the witcher seemed to be handling it with ease.

The Superior Blizzard potion he had drunk earlier greatly increased his nerve reaction speed.

While others could only act once in a round, he could act twice.

It was like, my turn, my turn, still my turn.

And in the eyes of others, his speed was like watching something at double speed.

The heavy giant sword had astonishing power, but if it didn't hit, it was useless.

Lynn danced like a small boat in this storm.

Suddenly, he seized an opportunity, leaped up, and jumped to avoid the giant sword sweeping low to the ground.

Then, he stepped on the bear's paw holding the giant sword, using it as leverage to somersault in the air.

Thwack!

The master-crafted silver sword slashed at the bear's paw at the wrist.

This wasn't over yet.

"Aard."

The invisible shockwave slammed into the silver sword that had cut into the bear's paw.

There was only a muffled sound.

The bear's paw holding the giant sword was severed by the silver sword.

Lynn reached to his waist, took out a Superior Dragon's Dream, and without looking, accurately threw it into the giant bear's roaring mouth.

He snapped his fingers.

Flames erupted from the bear's mouth.

While the giant bear was in so much pain that it was trying to extinguish the flames in its mouth by eating dirt, Lynn jumped onto the giant bear's back, taking three steps in two to reach its nape.

The giant bear at this time seemed to realize that danger had arrived and struggled desperately.

But it was clearly too late.

The witcher held the master-crafted silver sword with both hands, reverse grip.

He thrust down fiercely.

A deafening roar echoed through the ravaged forest.

The giant bear fell to the ground, shaking the earth once more.

But this wasn't over yet.

Because Lynn remembered the black roots inside the dead wolves' bodies.

So he used his silver sword to tear open a gap and then forcefully threw in a Superior Dancing Star bomb and a Superior Dragon's Dream bomb.

Only then did he jump off the giant bear's back.

Boom!

Flames rose behind him.

Countless burning black roots stretched out from the gap at the giant bear's nape, writhing and clawing, seemingly wanting to escape like humans.

"What in the world is that?"

The distant onlookers saw this bizarre scene and felt chills run down their spines.

This giant bear was like that, and so were the dead wolves earlier.

It was as if they were parasitized by tree roots.
