It was only natural that Jo-Pil would get a check-up after being brought to the mansion. After all, he had been in such a dirty and vile place for so long. Who knew what sort of things they might've done to him?
Since Jo-Pil was so stubborn, I expected Cha Hyun-woo to find at least a little bit of drug dosage in his system when I read the novel but surprisingly, there was none.
It was as if he had been obedient while he was in the auction house and even when he was locked in that dark room till his master came to claim him.
'So, he decided to be obedient to the people who treated him like crap and sold him but he was so stubborn to the people who bought him and gave him such a luxurious life? I can't understand Jo-Pil's actions one bit.'
I watched Cha Hyun-woo as he scanned through the results he had gotten after he had checked my heartbeat with his stethoscope.
Wow, technology sure was advanced in this novel. It didn't even take half an hour before the results came out, and he did it with everything he brought in his briefcase.
"Doc, doc," I called. Surely, I wouldn't let him do his job and walk away without saying anything to him.
He was one of the people who I wanted to get on their good side. He could prove useful in the future.
Cha Hyun-woo glanced toward me and without asking what I wanted, I asked,
"Is everything okay with me?" He scowled. "What did the results say?"
It took a minute of suffocating silence before Hyun-woo answered me.
"Your blood is clean and there is nothing abnormal with your body." He said, glancing away. "The only problem you have right now is that you are simply malnourished. If you eat a lot of balanced meals and drink plenty of water, you'll be fine in less than a week."
"Okay, thank you doc." I said with a friendly smile.
It wasn't like I didn't already know what was going on with this body. But I needed a chance to shine even if it was a tiny spark.
"Then, will you come and check up on me every day?" I asked but once again, he stayed silent. He was busy packing up his stuff and putting the used tubes and syringes in a transparent bag before taking off his rubber gloves and putting them in the transparent bag as well.
It was okay. I could wait for as long as it took. No pressure.
Once he was done, he sighed and turned to me.
"I will come regularly, but unless there's an emergency or you got hurt, you won't see me every day." He said and turned to leave when I called out.
"Doc, can I know your name?" I asked which caused him to pause on his tracks.
"What for?"
"We'll be seeing each other regularly so I need to at least know the name of the man who will be treating me." I said and he shut his eyes.
His expression spelled, 'I didn't sign up to be a babysitter.'
But the gaze in my eyes was persistent so he could not just ignore me and said,
"Cha Hyun-woo." He said. "But just keep calling me doc. I think that would be better for both of us."
I watched him walk towards the door and I yelled,
"My name is Hwang Jo-Pil but you can call me 'patient'." I said and smiled.
It looked like he ignored me but he took note of it and walked out.
'Nice, with this, he acknowledges my presence, even if it's not exactly in a positive light.' I dropped on the bed.
Cha Hyun-woo was a Beta. Of course, even if he had been the best doctor to look after me, if he had been an Alpha, my 'masters' would've never let him come near me.
That was how possessive they were.
The maids came back in and started dressing me in preparation for dinner. It was just dinner, so I could simply wear a T-shirt and some pants, but nope, they were going full royalty on me.
While they dressed me, the maid started to explain the circumstances to me.
While it was a fact that I had been bought and was no different from a slave, it was said that I would be the one to beat heirs for all four masters, and because of that, I was no different from their master's legal mate.
My position was already elevated.
Besides, Ki-hoon had made it clear to them that they were to treat me with utmost importance just as they would to the four Alphas, thus warranting the title 'Master Jo-Pil'.
Did such a thing happen in the novel? I wasn't quite sure. From the get-go, Jo-Pil had already messed up and infuriated Ki-hoon. So, even if he wanted the maids to treat him with the utmost respect, he stubbornly blew his chances.
In the first place, he didn't even talk to the maids. He felt they were all in a conspiracy to watch his every move and restrict his life to the bedroom.
Thanks to his actions, we, the readers, didn't know that Ki-hoon had already ordered the maids to treat him as though he were royalty and hated his cruel treatment.
'Way to go, Author. You could've at least written something about it.' I thought. But I guess the author wanted all the sympathy and pity to befall Jo-Pil that was why they wrote from his perspective only.
As I said, so long I didn't do anything to infuriate the Alphas and get on their nerves, I was going to be living a good life till I could return back to my world.
And that plan still stood.
But... Why am I having dinner with Ki-hoon during my first night here?
Sitting at the head of the long dining table that was filled with all-you-could-eat assorted meat, shrimp, and pork was Ki-hoon, who looked like he hadn't even recognized my presence in the slightest.
He was staring at his phone, as if what was in there was more important than the food in front of him.
Seriously, didn't he have better things to do than ruin the air with his moody attitude?
