Understanding the trial of Tenmares
Ⅰ. HUMAN RANKS & CLASSES
Not every survivor is equal.
Some awaken abilities... others are consumed by the nightmare.
Humans who survive their first encounter with the Dream World are marked by it.
They begin to manipulate Zani—the raw energy that flows through the Dream.
Their abilities, and their chances of survival, are ranked accordingly.
► Power Ranks (Survivors) Rank Title Description
Rank F (Lost) No powers. Weak minds shattered by fear. Often prey—or worse, transformed.
Rank E (Awakened) Barely touched by Zani. Can sense danger but cannot fight back.
Rank D (Survivor) Basic Zani control. Minor passive abilities. Still vulnerable in combat.
Rank C (Fighter) Combat-capable. Can enhance body or wield simple Zani techniques.
Rank B (Elite Skilled) and dangerous. Elemental mastery, advanced combat styles, and tactics.
Rank A (Ascendant Rare). Their Zani can alter terrain, slow time, or bend minds. Living weapons.
Rank S (Transcendent Near-mythic). Reality twists around them. Leaders, legends, or walking calamities. ► Human Classes
Classes define how a survivor uses Zani. Some focus on support. Others on destruction.
A person's Rank defines their raw power.
Their Class defines their role in battle.
Class Role Example Abilities
Breaker: Close-combat specialists. Enhanced strength, explosive strikes.
Caster: Zani manipulators. Firestorms, illusions, mental attacks.
Warden: Defenders & protectors. Shields, barriers, healing fields.
Tracker: Hunters & scouts. Heightened senses, movement skills, stealth.
Binder : Controllers of terrain or minds. Vines, shadows, mental chains, gravity fields.
Echo: Support-type anomaly users. Buffs, sensory sharing, time dilation pulses.
Unknown ??? Abilities outside classification. Often unstable.
Ⅱ. MONSTER RANKS & TYPES
Tenmares
"They aren't beasts. They aren't demons. They're dreams that refused to end."
—From the Black Index, Page 1
The Dream World doesn't just twist humans—it creates monsters.
Some are born from fear.
Some from memories.
Some were once human.
They are ranked by threat level, intelligence, and influence on reality.
► Monster RanksRankDesignationDescription
Rank F (Fragment Weakest entities). Mindless. Instinct-driven. Often swarm in large numbers.
Rank E (Echo Shadows of real monsters). Can imitate shapes or voices. Fragile, deceptive.
Rank D (Wretch Twisted creatures with basic intelligence). Hunt alone or in small packs.
Rank C (Aberrant Dangerous). Unique abilities. Require coordinated response to kill.
Rank B (Nightmare Can distort surroundings). Highly intelligent. Kill squads are often sent.

► Monster Types(Sub-Categories)
Monsters also fall into Types based on how they form and behave:
Organic – Flesh-based beasts or aberrations. Bleed. Die. But mutate rapidly.
Constructed – Artificial or puppet-like. Often controlled by stronger entities.
Spiritual – Illusion-based. Can only be harmed with Zani or mental resistance.
Possessed – Host creatures or humans infected by Dream parasites.
Memoryborn – Manifestations of a person's trauma or past. Highly unpredictable.
Hybrid – Mixed types. Rare and incredibly unstable.
Ⅲ. THE NIGHTMARE GATES
The Endless Sleep
"The world didn't break. We were simply allowed to see beyond it."
—Inscription found at Gate Zero
The Nightmare Gates are not part of our world.
They exist beyond the universe—fractured realms where time, space, and life obey other laws.
No one knows who made them. Only that they appeared after the first Collapse… and those who enter are never the same.
There are ten Nightmare Gates, each one a trial for those who seek to rise above mortality.
They are not dungeons.
They are cosmic crucibles—designed to test the body, mind, and soul.
► What Lies Within
Endless Landmasses: Each Gate contains a vast, shifting realm. Floating islands, sunless oceans, dead skies. Worlds inside worlds.
Nightmare Creatures: Not mindless beasts. Each one is intelligent, cunning, and often more ancient than humanity. Some speak. Some remember you. All are dangerous.
Laws & Reality-Bending Rules: Each Gate is ruled by a unique Nightmare, a god-like being who enforces its own version of reality. These "Laws" cannot be ignored.
In one Gate, pain heals you. In another, your name is a curse.
Temples of the Forsaken God: Scattered through each Gate are crumbling structures tied to a forgotten divinity. Some hold power. Others hold madness.
► The Path to Power
The Nightmare Gates are the key to true strength.
The more Gates you conquer:
The stronger your Zani becomes.
The higher your Rank rises.
The closer you get to transcending humanity.
Few make it past the First Gate.
Fewer survive the Fifth.
And those who reach the Tenth…
…are no longer human.
They say the final Gate is a forge—where one is either broken or reborn.
To conquer all ten is to stand at the threshold of godhood.
