Ryan became enraged and approached her and violently took the bottle from her hand and held it tightly against her body.
"Maybe you just need to try something new. How about feeling something else inhabiting your body? How about my sperm?" He said and even though Anna struggled, he managed to rip off her blouse. Anna thought about screaming, but no one would help her in that place.
"Let her go." The voice sounded quiet and sensual, and they both turned to look.
Genevieve was standing in the doorway, looking sexy and bored at the same time.
"You don't want to be the next to die because of that girl, do you?" She asked and walked over to the drinks shelf. "What were you drinking?" She asked herself.
Ryan let go of Anna and pulled himself together. Anna held her blouse in her hands. She was too scared and grateful to say anything.
"What are you doing here, Genevieve?" Ryan asked angrily.
"I needed a drink." She replied and turned to Anna. Her eyes were debauched. "Haven't you got anything better to wear?" She asked and turned back to the drinks, picking up the same drink Anna had chosen. Then she turned again to Ryan. "Ryan, my dear. Can you get a glass for me?" She asked and sat down with the bottle in her hand, but didn't speak to Anna again.
Ryan begrudgingly took two glasses and let Genevieve serve him. She smiled as she tried the drink.
"I didn't know you were allowing humans to drink the wolves' mint liquor. You always made me believe that we weren't worthy..."
Ryan stared at her disapprovingly and then looked at Anna.
"Get out of here, Anna. We'll continue this conversation in the green house."
As soon as Anna had gone, he sat down.
"Did Adam send you here?"
"No."
"Then why are you here?"
Genevieve stood up and left the cup in Ryan's hand.
"You're right. I've already fulfilled my purpose of making your life complicated and frustrating today. I have nothing more to do here, bye, Ryan." She said waving her hand and left.
...
Anna left the office, almost running, and took refuge in her bedroom. She took off her torn blouse and threw it in the bathroom garbage can. Then she chose another one and looked in the mirror.
Even if she loved Adam, would it be so bad to accept Ryan's proposal? He hadn't talked about discarding her after feeling bored. It was a little better than Adam's proposal. And he was very similar... If it hadn't been for the lighter hair, and the difference in the shade of blue in their eyes, she would have found it very difficult to tell them apart. Ryan didn't kill anyone, not that she knew it. Adam, she had heard countless tales of his cruelty, but never anything about Ryan. So why was she rejecting the best opportunity to get out of that house? "Because Adam would kill Ryan." Her mind answered objectively. That was it then. If she accepted Ryan's proposal, she would be guilty of his blood, too. And she didn't want anyone else to die because of her. Adam had warned her that he always got what he wanted. He wouldn't allow Ryan to leave that house with his newest toy. The knock on the door made her jump, and look scared and mute at the door. Genevieve opened the door and stepped inside.
"Go do what you were going to do when you came into the kitchen."
"I'm not going to be responsible for any punishment anyone in this house suffers."
"That would require you to stop breathing."
Anna stared at her angrily. She didn't like that woman.
"I wouldn't be welcome in the kitchen..."
"You should have thought of that before. Kate screamed at me about how you'd been kicked out of the kitchen and that you wanted to cook dinner. As she wasn't very discreet, others heard. And the boss will know as soon as he arrives. In fact, he should know, and he's already letting his creative mind decide the cook's fate."
"He won't care, because he treats me with disdain himself."
"No. But he's been looking for reasons to be cruel and you're giving it to him."
"He's a cold killer. He doesn't need a reason to kill."
"He doesn't, but he likes it when he has reasons, because without a reason, he finds torture boring."
"And why is he using me as his reason?"
Genevieve looked at her calmly.
"I think he's angry because you made him discover something..."
"Discover what?"
"That he has a heart."
Anna looked away. She didn't want to get her hopes up. She had to get back to the kitchen.
"I don't want to cook anymore. There's no atmosphere, no one will want to eat what I make..."
Genevieve took a deep breath.
"All right." She said and was already leaving.
"What are you going to do?"
She stopped and turned to Anna.
"Get some new cooks." She shook her shoulders and left.
Anna felt sick. Genevieve practically said that if she didn't do what she wanted to do, Adam would find a reason to kill the cook. She went downstairs and into the kitchen. She was paralyzed when she realized there was no one there. The door opened and the cook came in with vegetables in her hands. She looked at her quickly and, after putting the vegetables in the water, concentrated on the dough she was kneading.
"I don't want to be part of this anymore." Anna said, letting the tears run down her face.
The cook looked up at her, and there was genuine pity in them.
"There's no way out." She said and looked at the door as if she feared someone might hear them and whispered to Anna. "No one blames you. The men are sad, but they know you're just an excuse for the boss to commit his atrocities."
"Someone told me I should... continue with my plans to make dinner."
"Who told you that?"
"I... I can't remember the name." Anna said and felt her face flush because of the lie, and when she faced the cook, she was smiling proudly.
"You're learning, miss." She said and started cutting the dough with the knife. "What do you want to make for dinner?"
