Chapter 80 - Blinding Hatred

Anna stared at her with contempt and let go of her hands, trying very hard to do so.

"What does it matter to you if I'm pregnant or not? You no longer have any power over Adam, you're just a cockroach in my way. I didn't choose this life, Sarah. Unlike you, I didn't choose to be Adam's whore. My father was the one who put a price on me, to sell to the mafia boss, and he did it because he lived the last few years in despair over my mother's death, caused by a tramp, what's your excuse?"

 Sarah smiled.

"I had my doubts..." She said thoughtfully. "But now you've confirmed my suspicions. You've discovered my history with your father... it doesn't matter anymore. Your mother and you are two dumb bitches. I don't know what you know, really, if you've only heard part of the story, but... I don't regret what I did. I should have met her before your father put you inside her. That way, I would have eliminated any possibility of this cursed blood remaining in the world. And now I'm faced with a new dilemma... I overheard you talking to Genevieve about this child in her womb."

Anna raised her chin, as if she were a queen. Nothing that woman said would offend her more than her own free existence, unpunished for the harm she had caused to a family. He could let her know that he knew of her lineage. But she didn't know the family tree of her mother's family, and she was afraid of making a mistake. And she thought it was good that she lived looking back, knowing that she would avenge her mother one day.

"People talk, Sarah. Did you think your attitudes would stay in the shadows for long? They didn't. And one day Adam will realize what a despicable creature you are. I'm proud of the father I have and the mother I had, and I loathe the days I lived with you in this house, cooking and serving you. And you should know that I won't let what you did to my family go unpunished. I promise you that I will avenge them! And Adam... One day he's going to look at you and see the monster inside, and I won't have any pity for what he does to you when that day comes."

"You think he doesn't know?" Sarah asked sarcastically. "He's the head of the mafia, you dummy! They always know everything. They know every thorn that has scratched the skin of anyone who lives among them. Who do you think ordered the death of your mother and her descendants? Do you think I'd get involved with someone like your father if I wasn't being paid to do it?"

"Adam was a child when my mother died."

 Sarah rolled her eyes.

 "Adam, no. Allister."

Anna's eyes immediately filled with tears.

 "Why would he do that?"

"He's a werewolf, first and foremost, and his mother was the last of her kind. She was making Allister's greatest enemy strong."

 "You're lying."

"Are you sure?" Sarah said and looked at Anna's womb. "You won't put that filthy woman's offspring into the world! I'll make you sterile! I know the whole procedure for doing this, and you won't even realize it. This race ends with you!" Sarah said with an extreme tone of disgust.

Anna didn't want to believe it, but everything the woman said made a lot of sense.

"Why didn't you kill me when I was just a child, too? Why did All spare me?"

"Ah! The werewolves' revenge is so subtle, don't you think? Letting your enemy's daughter grow up and putting her in the green house and trusting that she could watch her blood suffer on the television from hell... I think Allister nurtured this idea for many years, so I was surprised when he didn't immediately send her to the green house."

"Didn't you feel pity for my mother? You must have been friends to have approached my father. Didn't you hesitate when you knew you would kill an innocent child, too?"

"No. I got excited. Your mother is from a rare species of creature that... I want dead. We can't allow you to exist and be free." Sarah said and closed her eyes. "I can still see your mother's surprised eyes when life left her. I wanted to make her suffer, but..."

Anna was blinded by rage and, in an insane moment, slapped the face of the woman who had deceived her father for so many years and destroyed her family.

Sarah placed her hand on the freshly slapped cheek, staring at Anna with wide, surprised eyes.

"You'll pay, Sarah!" Anna promised with tears in her eyes. While that despicable woman was spewing her insults, a woman, who she was sure was her mother, appeared in her mind, staring at her sadly. "I wanted to kill you with my bare hands, but I promise you that in the midst of great pain, when you can't take it anymore, my face will be the only beauty you'll see in your last moments. But now is not the right time. I don't know how you knew, but your wish not to see my mother's blood survive is overdue!" Anna said and ran a protective hand over her belly, leaving no doubts for Sarah, even if she no longer had any, and turned to go downstairs.

Anna felt the hand against her back, and for a moment she seemed undecided, but it was so fast that Anna didn't have time to lean somewhere to save herself. She was cowardly pushed down the stairs and couldn't protect the child in the fall. She ran up the stairs, which had several sharp objects that she knew had been placed there for that moment. When she felt, almost faintly, that her fall was coming to an end, she opened her mouth to say something, when she saw Kate, with a horrified face staring at her, shouting something to someone and bending over her again. It was the last moment for years that Anna saw anything from inside that mansion.
