Chapter 259 - The favorite niece

"I think you've finished talking to your father." He said and looked at his cell phone. "Whose number were you dialing?" He frowned. "Has Max changed his phone number? Or do you have another lover?"

 "No. I was calling Jenna."

"Why, of all the people in that house, would you try to communicate with Jenna? And why didn't you ask your father to give her your cell phone?"

 Anna stared at Adam defiantly.

"I wanted to warn her that Dad intends to kill her today." She revealed that she expected to see surprise in his eyes, but he just shook his head in understanding.

"Your father would shoot her in the leg before she could run two steps away."

"You don't seem surprised by Dad's decision... You didn't even ask why he was sentenced."

"I have two reasons not to be surprised. Firstly, because I don't care, and secondly, I'm a werewolf, Anna. You seem to keep forgetting that I have surveillance cameras on the werewolves' eyes twenty-four hours a day... And if you feel any affection for her, don't make me care." He said and his cell phone rang in his pocket. He handed the cell phone in his hand to Alexandre, who had stopped next to him, and picked up his cell phone. "Good afternoon, my father-in-law."

Anna felt her heart leap in her chest. Her father wanted to ask Adam to let her come to him. She watched Adam's expression as he listened to his father in silence, but he stared at her with his usual freezing gaze and showed no emotion.

"Of course, my brother. But I'll take her myself and I also want to talk to Jenna alone. If you accept that, you can wait for us."

Anna was discouraged. Her father wouldn't put his grandchildren at risk. Even though he knew that at no time, in reality, had they been threatened.

"All right. See you later." He said and hung up his cell phone. "You can get ready, Anna. You're going to visit your father. And get Ian ready, too. I want him to spend some time with his brothers."

 "You... Agreed?"

"Don't fill your head with silly ideas, Anna. You're not going to run away from me. I'll kill Max if you even try. And you can also be sure that he'll die in vain. Because I'll take you back."

Anna stared at Adam with hatred.

"I didn't think of that." Anna said, and was about to leave to take a shower and tell Ian, when she ran back and hugged Adam. "Thank you." She said sincerely, and after telling Ian, she ran upstairs. As she showered, she thought that two people she loved were close to death. Jenna, hopeless, and Adam. If Henry agreed to his visit, it was because he was up to something and, one day, he wouldn't be coming home.

 ...

Anna sat in the back seat of the car with Ian and Adam and admired the scenery in silence as they drove to the mansion where her family was. Adam seemed calm. She couldn't understand why he was so at peace, knowing that once inside her father's mansion, together with Ian, she could decide to stay and would be protected by Max, her father and his men. Adam was taking a convoy with them. She noticed that they entered the cars they were traveling in armed. Then she came to the conclusion that Adam wasn't afraid, because he knew that this time he could take his family hostage for real without effort. She wouldn't underestimate him. If, on the one hand, she believed that he was incapable of harming his family, knowing everything he knew today, on the other hand, he could turn into a cruel, heartless monster, depending on her attitude. She got to know this side when he forced her inside the hospital. He acted on impulse, and missed the opportunity to see his son grow up together with her.

They arrived at a heavily guarded gate. Anna knew that the experienced eyes of Adam and his Werewolves should have realized that there were snipers camouflaged everywhere, with guns pointed in their direction. But Adam showed no reaction.

When they arrived in front of the mansion, Anna got out of the car, looked at the huge house and thought that she had never seen such a beautiful house. She would have liked to live there, but she knew it was impossible. Adam would always pursue her. He, too, was gazing at the mansion in awe. He squinted when he saw the three children running to greet them.

Ian ran out to meet them, and together they went to where Anna was.

They hugged her and then hugged Adam too.

Anna noticed that Tayme seemed a little too enamored with her uncle and was worried. She didn't want her to make friends with him, as Ian had, and be led to wish she was in Adam's life.

Adam talked to her, looking amused. He also seemed charmed by her. And when they were invited in, he let the children lead the way, and paired up with Anna.

"If it weren't for Tayme's age, I'd think she was my daughter. We have a lot in common. Much more than that asshole brother of mine."

"She loves her father." Anna said angrily.

"I didn't say otherwise. But the boys are more like Max than she is. Tayme wasn't born to work behind a desk in an office, although she's very intelligent and I have no doubt that she'll succeed in whatever field she wishes to pursue. But her wit is like Ian's. It goes far beyond that. This girl has a very promising future."

"Don't try to influence my daughter, like you did with Ian."

"I didn't, Ian. It's all in his blood. And in Tayme's, too. What you did to Sarah is not the work of an amateur. You didn't have a shred of mercy at any time."

"You have no way of knowing that."

"Have you forgotten about the cameras? Have you forgotten that I can also see through the werewolves' eyes? Of course, that's not very efficient, because a werewolf's vision is compromised by the way it senses things, but even so..."

"You were watching everything?" Anna wondered. That was how Adonis was able to circumvent the Alpha's vision! Should she warn Adam? No. He would kill Adonis immediately.

"Actually, only on the first day did I look through the werewolves' eyes, then I watched the recording. The other times, I wasn't interested. And I've already put an end to the tapes. We don't want them to fall into the wrong hands, do we?" He said and sent a wink, before entering the living room, where his parents and the children were.
