Chapter 49 - THE CHOICE OF NO RETURN

The soft beeping of machines filled the silent hospital room. Dim light spilled through the window, painting the floor with pale gold. Mirshad's chest rose and fell slowly, every breath a fight between life and death. His fingers twitched — the same fingers that once held trays in a restaurant, now stained with blood, power, and destiny.

His eyelids fluttered, then slowly opened.

The first thing he saw — Baba. Not Faisal the ruler of shadows — just Baba, sitting beside him, eyes heavy with a weight no king could carry.

"Baba…"

The word came out broken, like a child lost in a storm.

Faisal grabbed his hand, squeezing gently, his own scars rough against Mirshad's soft skin.

"I'm here, son. I'm here."

The room filled — Rayyan stood like a wall near the door, arms crossed, eyes scanning every shadow. Malik leaned against the window, fists clenched like they were waiting for war. Ameer sat quietly, fingers tapping his tablet, controlling information even in silence.

Sara, Jabir, and the others stood back — silent witnesses to a moment bigger than all of them.

Faisal's voice was calm, but each word carried the weight of a thousand storms.

"Son, you're awake… but you're not the same."

Mirshad's brow furrowed. "What… what do you mean?"

Rayyan stepped forward, his voice like gravel.

"Your body, your blood, your soul — they've changed. You're not just human anymore."

The memories flooded back — the transformation, the fire in his veins, the power that felt too big for his skin to contain. His hands shook.

Faisal gently touched his shoulder.

"We need to do something no one has ever done before — rebuild you, from the bones out."

Mirshad's heart pounded. "Why? What's wrong with me?"

Rayyan's eyes softened — not as a soldier, but as an Brother.

"Because if you wake that power again before your body can handle it, you won't just destroy yourself — you'll destroy us. All of us."

The door creaked open and the lead doctor stepped in, holding a thick file, his face pale.

"I've examined many bodies, but this… this is beyond science."

He placed the file on Mirshad's lap, showing scan after scan — bones cracked and healing, muscles torn and reknitting, cells glowing with an energy no human should possess.

"This boy isn't human anymore," the doctor said, voice trembling. "He's a living nuclear reactor — and if someone unlocks his mind before we stabilize him, the world won't survive."

A cold silence filled the room.

"We can rebuild him," the doctor continued, "but it's not simple. We'll need the best geneticists, neurologists, military engineers, even quantum physicists. And it will take years — not days."

Faisal's hand rested on the file.

"Do whatever it takes. Spare no cost."

For the first time, Mirshad's voice cracked like a child's.

"Baba… what if I'm not me anymore?"

Faisal knelt beside his bed, both hands holding Mirshad's.

"You will always be our son. No matter what face you wear. No matter what power you hold. You are mine."

A tear slid down Mirshad's cheek.

"But I'm scared…"

"So am I," Faisal whispered. "But I trust you. I trust the boy who saved me before he even knew me."

Faisal stood in a corner, phone in hand. The video call connected — a strong, middle-aged man appeared on screen. His face, worn by life, still carried strength — but his eyes, those eyes held a pain no man should bear.

"Assalamu Alaikum," Faisal said softly.

"Wa Alaikum Assalam… Faisal?" His voice was steady, but a slight tremor betrayed his worry.

"I promised you I would protect him," Faisal said, voice low. "But your son is not just your son anymore. He's something… the world has never seen."

The man's jaw clenched, holding back emotion.

"Will he survive this?"

"I swear on my life," Faisal said, "I will bring him back to you. Stronger than ever."

The man exhaled, a mix of fear and hope in his breath.

"Then do whatever you must. Just bring my son home — as a lion."

That night, the brothers stood around Mirshad's bed. The Kings of the Underworld — silent before the boy who would surpass them all.

"We have a plan," Faisal said. "It will take time, pain, and sacrifice. But it will make you something the world cannot break."

Mirshad's voice was soft.

"I'm ready."

"You don't understand, son," Rayyan said. "Once we start, there's no turning back. You will disappear. Your face, your name, your past — all gone."

Mirshad's hands shook, but he raised his eyes to Faisal's.

"I trust you. If I have to lose everything to protect everything … I will."

Faisal's heart broke — proud, terrified, and honored all at once.

"Then rest, son," Faisal said softly. "Because when you wake… you'll be unstoppable."

Rayyan stepped aside, calling his hidden contacts — the Shadow Facility, an underground site even governments couldn't find.

Malik and Ameer vanished into the night — recruiting scientists, surgeons, and engineers from the shadows, some willingly, some by force.

The plan was no longer a plan. It was a promise — to rebuild Mirshad into the legend he was born to be.

As Mirshad drifted into sleep, Faisal sat beside him — watching, guarding, mourning.

"son," Faisal whispered. "The world has no idea what's coming."

from the boy in the hospital bed, to the kings preparing to burn the world for his future.

And somewhere deep inside Mirshad's unconscious mind — the first spark of MRD's awakening flickered.
