Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Fracture Point

Scene 1 – Tension on Display

The camera opened cold backstage. No music. No pyro. Just a handheld shot.

Reckoning's locker room was silent.

Talon sat on a bench, hands clasped, eyes fixed on the floor. Across from him, Jaxon Cross tightened his boots. The tension was thick enough to slice with a blade.

Then the door opened.

Saint walked in.

He didn't say a word.

Just stood there.

Jaxon stood too.

"You ready?" he asked.

Saint nodded.

No fist bump.

No handshake.

Just a nod.

Tonight, it was brothers turned battleground.

Scene 2 – Reckoning Implodes

> Jaxon Cross vs. Saint

One-on-One – No Allies Allowed

The crowd didn't know who to cheer for. Both men had spilled blood for them. Both were part of something special.

But now… something sacred was being torn down in front of them.

The match was fast, crisp, violent.

Saint opened with his speed — bouncing off the ropes, hitting Jaxon with quick combinations, high knees, and a flying cutter that got an early 2.9 count.

Jaxon fought like he was trying to prove something — power moves, a lariat that turned Saint inside out, a German suplex that nearly folded him.

But Saint kept coming.

They went back and forth until both men were down.

Then —

Randy Orton's music hit.

The crowd booed immediately.

Jaxon sat up, furious. "Not now."

Saint used the distraction. Quick roll-up.

1… 2… kickout.

Jaxon snapped.

He hit Saint with a Cross Hammer out of nowhere — and it looked deliberate.

1-2-3.

He won.

But he didn't look like a winner.

Saint rolled out of the ring, clutching his ribs.

Jaxon looked at Orton, who stood on the stage… applauding.

Scene 3 – Cracks Become Canyons

Backstage, Talon confronted Jaxon immediately.

"That wasn't about respect."

Jaxon didn't respond.

Talon took a step closer. "You're not trying to hold this group together anymore. You're trying to own it."

Jaxon: "You think I wanted Orton out there? I told him not to come."

Talon: "But you didn't stop him either."

He walked off.

Scene 4 – The Return of the Wolf

Later in the night, the lights dimmed.

A spotlight hit the stage.

Then a single line of text lit the tron:

> "The Wolf Runs Alone."

Kai Maddox walked out — no theme, no fanfare, just intent.

He wore black boots, taped wrists, and a custom leather jacket with the words:

> "NO KING. NO CREED."

The crowd gave him a mixed but rising reaction. This wasn't the same Maddox. He walked like a man possessed.

In the ring, he grabbed a mic.

"Jaxon Cross."

Pause.

"I'm not here for Reckoning. I'm not here to make peace. I'm here to finish what you started."

He looked dead into the camera.

"Next week. You. Me. One last time."

Then he smiled.

"But this time…"

He pulled something from his jacket.

Barbed wire.

"…we do it the old way."

The crowd exploded.

> "NO RULES. NO MERCY. NO RECKONING."

Scene 5 – Orton's Chessboard

The final shot of the show: Randy Orton sitting in a dark production room watching a bank of monitors. Every screen showed a different angle of Reckoning breaking down.

Jaxon.

Saint.

Talon.

Kai.

He leaned back in the chair, put his boots on the desk, and whispered:

> "Let the animals tear each other apart…"

A smirk.

> "…then I'll take what's left."
