Chapter 2: Unbound

Ralof crouched behind the tower's doors; beside him was Ulfric, the High King to some. "Traitor," Ralof muttered under his breath.

"Jarl Ulfric! What is that thing? Could the legends be true?" Ralof turns his attention to Ulfric.

"Legends don't burn down villages—" Suddenly, a deafening roar of lightning echoed throughout Helgen.

"We need to move. Now!" Ulfric urges.

"Up through the tower, let's go," Ralof suggested and ran ahead to clear the path for the 'True High King.'

The ground shook again as Ralof made his way up the tower. Just as he was to reach the roof, Alduin bursts in from the side and disintegrates everything in the path of his fire words.

Yol… Toor… Shul!

Outside the tower, captain and I made our way to the Helgens Keep, I saw Alduin bashing the tower from outside and frying everything inside I hope you survive Ralof, I'm going to fuck you over personally.

"Run, you idiot!" I heard a shout from the back. Glancing at the man, General Tulius, I thought, 'That guy has some guts.' I shook my head and paid attention to the path.

At the door of the Helgens Keep, I took the key from the captain's shaky hands as she tried to open the lock but failed. "I-I'm sorry."

I opened the door, and we quickly moved inside the Keep. The captain fell onto the bed, while I had no time to rest or freeze in fear.

I looted the places, storing everything in my infinite inventory, which wasn't a lot: an Imperial light armor, Helmet, Boots, and an Iron sword.

Four gold coins some idiot left in the barracks. I used the system to remove the rags I had been wearing and wore the Imperial armor set with ease.

+4 Gold

I turned to the captain staring at me, and I was sure she saw my ass for a split second when I removed the rags, "Eyes up here" I told her. She shook her head, getting out of her daze, and with a hurry stood up from the bed, "We need to get out of here."

"Lady's first," I joked, my mind calmed as the fear of death flees from my body.

"How are you so calm?" the Captain asked as I followed behind her. "I need to be the calm one, otherwise, we'll both be dead." I chuckled.

Her brows collided. "You think so less of me?" captain muttered, while the grip on her sword tightened, Tch! Maybe I'm just that weak, Captain thought.

"I'm just that strong," I answered, not trying to hurt her feelings.

Captain huffed. "Don't be so full of yourself," she paused, like me. She pulled the chain and opened the door to the base of the Keep's tower.

Suddenly, we heard footsteps. I pulled her to the side of the wall. As the steps got closer, and closer, there's only one, I noted.

The man ran past us, not noticing us hiding next to him. Gunjar That was his name, 'Oh man' I sighed, and dashed toward him, putting my sword against his throat.

"Drop the sword," I told him, but he was stubborn. "You fight like a coward," He insulted, which didn't seem to bother me. "I know," I muttered and sliced open his carotid artery.

The blood sprayed onto the floor, my blade colored red. This doesn't seem to bother me that much. "We need to move," came the voice of the captain.

I nodded. "Just a moment." I crouched next to the corpse, putting my hand on his armor, and placed his gear in my inventory. I stood up and turned to look at the intrigued expression on the captain's face.

"Magic," I told her.

+1 Iron Greatsword

As we were about to move, we heard another footstep coming toward us, this time from the barracks. I quickly grabbed the captain's hand, pressing her against the wall next to the portcullis.

Her breath hitched as I shushed her. I towered over her, as she reached only to my chest. She's short

The footsteps drew closer. There were two. I gripped the sword. "We need to get out here quickly, move," We heard the familiar voice. "It's Hadvar," the captain whispered, and I moved away from her.

Hadvar came into view with an unexpected guest behind him. "Captain," Hadvar spoke as he saw us.

"Where's General Tulius?" the captain asked him. "He stayed behind."

Her fingers curled, forming fists. "Where's Ralof?" I stepped toward the panting Lokir behind Hadvar and asked. Lokir paused. "He died when the dragon got inside the tower," he said.

Just my bad luck. I guess I shook my head; I still had a way to get revenge.

"Let's get going," the captain said.

We made our way to the kitchen. "We left those two behind!" we heard a man yell. We quickly crouched down, hiding behind pillars, barrels, and tables. "Shhh! You'll get us killed, too. We need to get to Jarl Ulfric, no matter what," another voice said.

I took a peek from my side as they were directly in front. I signaled toward Hadvar and Lokir.

The Stormcloaks walked towards us, unaware of our presence, and as they got close enough, Hadvar, the captain, and I got out of our hiding spot, slaughtering the two in an instant.

"How did they get here before us?" Hadvar muttered, "Because they escaped before us—" She paused, "But they were going back up?" She squinted. Are they coming out from within? She wondered.

"They may have escaped the torture chambers," the captain came to the logical conclusion.

Hadvar nodded; it was plausible that the ones who escaped freed the prisoners.

"Hey, you two, pick up anything that may be of use," Hadvar told Lokir and me.

While the four of us split around the kitchen, I opened the system.

And inside the Shop section, I saw the option to sell the items in my inventory.

After having finished our rummaging of the kitchen, we headed toward the Torture room. Hadvar and the captain were ahead of me while Lokir followed behind me.

We stepped inside the room, finding the Torturer and his assistant dead, with their guts scattered on the floor, beside them where two Stormclocks with their guts out, and one woman and two man lying dead butt naked.

"Ugh, I wish we never needed this," Hadvar muttered as he saw the malnourished and sick dead bodies of the three victims.

"They were criminals," Captain told him.

"And what does 'this' make you?" I muttered.

She glanced at me for a moment but said nothing. "We should hurry," Lokir said.

"Yes, there's a way out through the cave below," Hadvar said. Lokir and the captain followed after him. "I'll be right behind you guys," I said to them as I began to loot anything useful and sell them along the way to the system.

They nodded their head and went ahead of me. I picked up the lockpick and used it to open the cage in which the mage was locked up.
