Chapter 1: The Birth of the Prince and the Betrayal
The kingdom of Eldoria stood as the mightiest realm in all the lands. With towering castles, bustling cities, and an army unrivaled in strength, it was a beacon of power and prosperity. King Alden, wise and just, ruled with his beloved Queen Seraphina by his side. Their reign brought an era of peace, but peace often breeds envy in the hearts of those who lurk in the shadows.
On a night when the stars shone brighter than ever, Queen Seraphina cried out in pain as the royal midwives surrounded her. The air in the chamber was thick with tension, but outside, the people of Eldoria celebrated the impending birth of their future ruler. King Alden held his wife's hand tightly, whispering reassurances as she fought through the labor pains. The night was long, but as the first rays of dawn painted the sky, the cries of a newborn filled the palace.
Prince Kael had arrived.
A chorus of joy erupted in the royal court. Eldoria had an heir, a boy destined to lead with strength and wisdom. But in the depths of the palace, hidden among the shadows, another man watched in silence, his heart consumed by jealousy.
Lord Malagar, the king's elder brother, had long coveted the throne. He saw Alden's rule as an obstacle to his ambitions and the birth of Kael as the final nail in his fate. His heart twisted with envy, and so, in the dead of night, he made his move.
The king's most trusted generals had been swayed by Malagar's promises of wealth and power. As the royal family slept, Malagar and his loyalists stormed the palace. The king's guards fought valiantly but were overwhelmed by the sheer number of traitors. Blood stained the marble floors as swords clashed and cries of pain echoed through the corridors.
King Alden, awakened by the chaos, grabbed his sword and rushed to defend his family. Seraphina cradled their newborn, her heart pounding as she realized the extent of the betrayal. Before they could flee, Malagar himself entered their chambers, his sword gleaming in the dim candlelight.
"Alden," Malagar sneered, "your time is over."
Alden stood firm, his eyes blazing with fury. "You would betray your own blood? For what? Power?"
"For what is rightfully mine," Malagar hissed before lunging forward.
The battle was fierce, but Malagar had the advantage. His men had worn Alden down before he reached the chamber. With a final strike, Malagar's blade pierced Alden's heart. The king fell, his eyes locking onto Seraphina one last time.
The queen, tears streaming down her face, clutched Kael tightly. Malagar turned to her, his expression dark. "The boy cannot live."
Before he could strike, the door burst open. Captain Darius, the king's most loyal bodyguard, entered with his sword drawn. He fought through Malagar's guards, cutting them down with lethal precision.
"Run!" Darius shouted to the queen.
Seraphina hesitated only for a moment before pressing a kiss to her son's forehead. "Live, my love," she whispered before handing him to Darius.
As Darius fled through the secret passageways of the palace, Seraphina turned to face Malagar. She lifted a dagger, determined to protect her son's escape. But Malagar was merciless. With a swift strike, the queen of Eldoria fell.
The night of joy had turned into a night of despair.
Darius, wounded but unyielding, rode into the darkness with the infant prince in his arms. Malagar's men pursued them, but the captain's skill kept them at bay. He knew he could not outrun them forever.
With the last of his strength, he reached the mountain pass that led into the wilderness. There, in a hidden cave deep in the forest, he placed the child down. His vision blurred, his body weak from blood loss.
"You must survive," Darius whispered, pressing a pendant into the baby's tiny hands—a symbol of Eldoria's true heir.
As dawn broke over the mountains, the cries of the newborn prince echoed through the empty wilderness. The journey had only just begun.
