Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Big Bad Boss Appears Ahead of Schedule

"You have successfully killed the intermediate dark wizard Hain Lor. Completion level: B+. You have obtained 85 reward points!"

"You have completed the task 'First Kill'. You have obtained three module slots!"

Two consecutive voices rang out, which made Zheng Fan very happy. He only had one module slot left and was thinking about whether to remove the Mechanized Mind Module first. Now that he had obtained three more, he didn't have to worry about the issue of choice for the time being.

With the help of the memory module, Zheng Fan quickly finished flipping through Hain's experimental notebook and found several key pieces of information in it.

First, Hain's home was in Knockturn Alley.

Second, there were many valuable magic materials in Hain's home.

Third, there were many books and notes recording spells in Hain's home, and several of them were his original creations!

Fourth, when a wizard killed someone, a mark of killing would also be left on their own soul. Powerful wizards could observe this through some methods!

The last point was a bit troublesome. If Dumbledore found out that he had killed someone, his plan to earn reward points at Hogwarts in the future would basically be ruined. He had to find a way to solve this problem before returning to Hogwarts.

Zheng Fan activated his Eagle - Eye Vision. After confirming that no one had noticed him, he began to recall the contents of the standard spells.

Soon, he found the spell he wanted.

Dumbledore had only taught him a few relatively common spells, such as the Disarming Charm and the Shield Charm. If he wanted other spells, Zheng Fan had to find his own way to learn them.

Buying books was one simple and practical way.

"Incendio." He pointed his black wand at the body on the ground and whispered.

Orange flames suddenly sprang up from the body. In less than a few seconds, the body on the ground turned into a pile of black ashes.

It was his first time killing someone, and Zheng Fan still had a slightly strange feeling. However, killing with a spell was different from killing with a cold weapon, and the pressure wasn't too great. He used the Mechanized Mind Module to sort out his emotions a bit and completely recovered. Then he headed towards Hain's home.

Hain's home was on the edge of Knockturn Alley. It was a low, semi - wooden building. Although the experimental notebook contained some key information, it didn't mention what kind of traps were in the house, so Zheng Fan still chose to sneak in cautiously.

"Silencio." He pointed his black wand at himself. This was the Silencing Charm. After using it, he wouldn't make any sound.

Then, he activated his Eagle - Eye Vision.

As soon as he activated his Eagle - Eye Vision, Zheng Fan saw two red circles at the door, one on the doorknob and the other on the doormat. There was no countdown outside the red circles, which indicated that these two traps hadn't been triggered yet.

Zheng Fan blinked and let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank goodness I've got the Eagle - Eye Vision, or I'd be a goner without even knowing why."

Zheng Fan didn't know how to disable Hain's spell traps, but he had another way. He walked around the house for a few steps and spotted a wall that hadn't been enchanted.

"Confringo." As he cast the spell, this wooden wall directly shattered into pieces.

He stepped inside.

As soon as Zheng Fan entered, he frowned.

The room was filled with the stench of blood. The floor and walls were covered in dark red, looking extremely disgusting.

Without hesitation, Zheng Fan activated the Mechanized Mind Module. It wasn't out of fear; this place was simply so nauseating that he felt like throwing up with just one breath, and none of the spells he had learned could clean the air.

"What kind of experiment requires so much blood... and gets it all over the place? This guy is crazy," Zheng Fan shook his head and headed straight for the storage room.

More than three hundred Galleons was an unexpected gain. As for those magic experiment materials, Zheng Fan didn't recognize many of them, so he simply packed them all up and stuffed them into his big bag for books.

Looking at the bulging bag in his hand, Zheng Fan didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The more than twenty books he had taken really hindered his movement. They were too many and too heavy. He might as well sell them back to Flourish and Blotts later, of course, not at the second - hand price.

Next was the study.

In the study, Zheng Fan, as expected, found a large pile of materials. Some were spells that were already in circulation on the market, and only a small part were new magics originally created by Hayne.

For a wizard of medium strength, his achievements were commendable. Unfortunately, Zheng Fan wasn't interested in his spells and just threw them all to the System.

There were also a large number of spells that were rarely used in daily life. Zheng Fan also tossed them all to the System, considering it a form of waste utilization.

Among the spell books was an old, somewhat tattered book. Zheng Fan flipped through it a little and was a bit surprised to find that it was a magic book about various dark magics and hexes. This kind of book wasn't like "Standard Spells: Beginner's Edition," a common book. One couldn't simply rely on the memory module to memorize it. After thinking about it, Zheng Fan put this book into the bag too.

Before putting it in, he used his Eagle - Eye Vision to check and make sure there were no hexes, souls, or other dirty things on the book.

The moment he activated his Eagle - Eye Vision, his pupils suddenly constricted. Without hesitation, he rolled on the spot and pointed his wand directly at the door of the study -

"Confringo!!"

Bang!!

A dark shadow flashed at the door. Zheng Fan's spell didn't hit the person but shattered the wooden door of the study.

Zheng Fan stared at the person through the wall using his Eagle - Eye Vision. He hadn't noticed this guy when he entered. It seemed that either this guy had followed Zheng Fan in or he had been in a place like the basement where Zheng Fan's Eagle - Eye Vision hadn't scanned.

Seeing someone through a wall with Eagle - Eye Vision was different from seeing someone directly with one's own eyes. One could only roughly make out an outline and couldn't clearly see the detailed features, but Zheng Fan could tell that the other person seemed to be a man wrapped in a large turban.

"Hehe... Good alertness... You're an interesting young man..." A hoarse and sinister voice came from outside the door.

"Did you follow me in? You're really good. I didn't notice you before."

"No... It wasn't following... It was Apparition... After I sensed that this place had been forcibly invaded, I Apparitioned here and just happened to see you... Young man, are you interested in following me and becoming my power?

Hearing the first half of what was said, Zheng Fan showed a look of realization. Although he had learned a few magic spells, he didn't yet have the typical mindset of a wizard and often overlooked teleportation abilities like Apparition and Floo Powder.

Hearing the second half, he burst into laughter.

"Follow you? Who the hell are you?"

Hearing Zheng Fan's voice, the figure slowly approached the door.

It was a thin man wearing a purple turban on his head. Zheng Fan initially intended to kill him with a spell, but since the man had his back to him, he wasn't in a hurry to act.

Then, under his gaze, the man slowly untied the turban around his head.

Seeing what was revealed behind it, Zheng Fan reached up to cover his face.

"When one is out of luck, even drinking water can go down the wrong way."
