Chapter 2 - Contract Agreement

[Error. Instructions cannot be processed.]

"No… This can't be!"

My heart races. My life is about to be ruined, and I can already feel it. If anyone finds out about this—especially Uncle Rod—he's going to drag me right into the world of hunters! I've seen it happen to so many people. They start out with a normal life, a normal job, but once they're assigned a role by the System, their entire world turns upside down. It doesn't matter what role you get; you'll end up overworked, and guilds will be all over you, even when you're at a low level!

I take a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves. "Let's just focus on something else… haha… I must be seeing things from exhaustion." I just need to get some rest.

But before I can even step into my new home, another screen pops up in front of me.

[Enter owner's name: ]

What is this? My name? Is this some kind of scam? Are they going to steal my information and sell it to the dark web or something?! I feel like I'm going to faint from the overwhelming chaos of it all.

"Get this screen out of my face!" I shout, but of course, it disappears with no response.

Finally, I step inside the house. Or, should I say, what was supposed to be a house? It's more like a large, abandoned school. People have tried to renovate this place multiple times, but it always ends in bankruptcy. It's said that the school brings bad luck, that students who come here suffer.

But today, this place isn't going to be a school anymore. Today, it's going to be my home.

The space is massive. It was originally designed to house over 200 students, but now it's just for me. A massive, eerie building meant for a crowd is going to be my personal sanctuary. The best part? It was cheap.

I've always loved cooking, and that's part of the reason I bought this place. My dream is to open a restaurant here, alongside living in it. My mother used to teach me how to cook when I was young. My grandma still keeps the cookbook my mother made back in her chef days. It's filled with memories—memories I'll treasure forever. I wish they were here to see this.

A ding interrupts my thoughts.

[Would you like to view the contract?]

[Yes/No]

I sigh in exasperation. This damn thing just won't stop, will it? I'm getting sick of these pop-ups.

"Fine!" I snap. "Yes, I accept. Open it already and stop wasting my time!"

A new screen flashes before me. The contract agreement is loaded, and I quickly skim through it, trying to make sense of the formal text.

[Do you accept the contract?]

[Yes/No]

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this. If I don't accept you will take away my home? I mean, who would ever agree to something like this? I have no choice but to accept, right? I sigh again, feeling like I'm stuck in a nightmare. Plus my head hurt and I just want to faint on the bed and sleep at this point.

"Okay, okay, yes, I accept," I mutter under my breath. "Let's get this over with."

I grown. "Ugh... Tomorrow.." I'm too tired to even think now. As I slowly closed the door to my home, I made my way back to the place I'm staying for the night and it's only a couple of walks away.

The place was just a small room with a one person mattress, quite cheap.

Finally.. quiet...

As I'm drifting across to sleep, that agitating noise pop-up again
