Chapter 37: Upside-Down Kiss! Skye is Envious!

Barbara watched as Ethan Lee and Skye left, her mind beginning to analyze the situation.

—— Daisy Johnson, identified by the organization as having extraordinary potential as an agent.

—— The female knight's brother, Ethan Lee, suspected of possessing advanced knowledge of psychology.

He seems like... a young man driven by desire.

Could this be an avenue worth exploiting?

Barbara hesitated, debating whether she should use her appearance to get close to Ethan. While his resume and looks were impressive, she had always been too focused on her missions to pursue a relationship.

---

Near the training grounds, a hidden room within the computer lab buzzed with neon lights, creating a cyberpunk atmosphere.

Ethan and Skye sat before a reconstructed computer, the glow reflecting in their eyes. Ethan navigated through a page on the screen before asking, "So, did you find anything?"

"Cough… cough!"

Skye cleared her throat, still feeling the lingering effects of whatever had irritated it earlier. She pursed her lips and said, "This S.H.I.E.L.D. you mentioned… ahem… it's powerful. I can only hack into external information. If I go any deeper, they'll definitely notice."

"Ahem—"

She paused, then opened her mouth and spat into the nearby trash can. The saliva was surprisingly thick and white.

Or maybe it wasn't just saliva…

Ethan continued working without reacting. "It's fine. If they find us, so be it. We've been on their radar for a while now."

Skye's fingers danced over the keyboard with expert precision. "I couldn't get detailed intel, but I confirmed that Barbara Morse is part of their organization. Do you want to tell Jessica?"

Ethan shook his head. "Jessica isn't great at keeping secrets. If she panics, it might drive her away."

Skye raised a brow. "And you're fine being involved with someone of unknown allegiance?"

"I just want to have a little fun with her," Ethan replied casually.

Just then, his phone buzzed with a message.

Speak of the devil, and she appears.

Jessica: [Brother, Ghost-Spider is on her way! You better be ready~]

Ethan glanced at Skye and asked, "Did you clean up all the traces?"

Skye blushed, stammering, "W-What are you talking about? There are no traces! It's all—"

As she spoke, she quickly kicked the small trash can under the table, thinking guiltily, This shouldn't count…

Ethan nodded in satisfaction. "Good. Wouldn't want Gwen catching us in an awkward situation."

Jessica: [She's here! She's here! She's at the training ground! Vice President, go meet her!]

Jessica's messages always felt like they were written under the influence of pure caffeine.

Ethan sighed, said a few words to Skye, and left for the training ground.

---

The training ground was eerily empty.

But Ethan sensed it.

A mischievous ghost lurking above.

A slender, white-gloved hand patted his shoulder from behind. He turned to see a graceful figure descending on a strand of webbing.

This time, she wasn't wearing a hood.

Her golden hair cascaded like a waterfall, her lips curved into a teasing smile, and her sapphire-blue eyes sparkled with excitement.

Gwen had deliberately appeared upside-down, hoping to see surprise on his face.

Ethan, however, remained calm, refusing to act shocked—it felt too childish.

Instead, he smiled slightly and whispered, "Gwen~"

"I've always wanted to come clean with you," Gwen admitted, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. Her voice was warm, her face radiant like melting snow in early spring. "Because without you, Ghost-Spider wouldn't be Ghost-Spider."

"But… it seems like you already knew."

There was no need for extra words—everything was already understood between them.

Emotion ignited like ethanol, the perfect catalyst.

Ethan stepped closer, his fingers intertwining with her golden locks.

Gwen's breath hitched. "Mm…"

Their lips met in an upside-down kiss—just like Peter Parker and Mary Jane in Spider-Man.

Except this time, the roles were reversed.

---

"So Gwen is Ghost-Spider. Well, that was kind of expected."

Skye peeked through the crack in the door, watching enviously. "Superpowers make everything cooler. Even kissing."

After a long moment, the kiss finally ended.

Or so Skye thought.

She watched in shock as Gwen slid down even further.

Her eyes widened. "You're not going to—"

BUMP!

Skye slammed the door shut, muttering under her breath. "Not watching this. Not suitable for children, not suitable for children…"

She exhaled sharply. "So many different ways…"

---

Later, Ethan handed Gwen a modified device. "This is an improved web shooter, along with some other gadgets. I think you'll find them useful."

"My web shooters definitely need an upgrade." Gwen beamed. "Wait, Jessica told you about this? I only mentioned it to her in passing."

Ethan merely shrugged. No need for further explanation.

A slow, deliberate pair of footsteps echoed from behind the training ground's gate.

A pair of long, graceful legs stepped into view, followed by a girl with jet-black hair.

Jessica.

Hands tucked behind her back, she flashed a knowing smile. "Alright, now that we've gotten all that out of the way… it's time to start forming our superhero team."
