Chapter 29 - The Force Moves in Ripples

Timeframe: One year later | Cain is now 10 years old

Setting: Jedi Temple – Reflection Garden | Training Ring | Council Spire

Force Codex Entry – Log 007

Another year has passed. And I can feel it—in the way the Jedi walk the halls. In the way questions linger longer in the air. In the way the silence between teachings has become a space where curiosity breathes.

I've seen how Anakin moves now—no longer led by impulse, but by flow. How Seris tempers her power with grace. How Barriss debates Knights twice her age without fear. Derran challenges orders when they serve power over people. Even others—Zayne, Etain, and Jyl—speak their doubts with quiet purpose.

Not loudly. Not rebelliously. But clearly.

I never gave them orders. Only questions. And they gave themselves permission to evolve.

Even Masters are listening now. Some with suspicion. Some with interest. Some with quiet awe.

The ripple is spreading. But to guide it forward, I need more than trust. I need wisdom older than the Order itself.

It's time to ask for Grand Master Satele Shan.

Sparring in Harmony

In the Temple's third-tier open training ring, Cain, Anakin, and Seris moved like wind and fire. They were no longer Initiates—but Padawans honed by purpose.

Cain's saber hummed in a slow arc. Anakin countered with a focused parry, breathing measured. Seris leapt, feinting and slipping behind Cain's guard—but he smiled and rolled with the motion, letting the Force guide him rather than control it.

It wasn't a duel. It was a dance. Three voices in harmony.

When the session ended, Knight T'ra Saa, who had observed in silence, approached them.

"You fight like threads of the same tapestry," she said. "It's rare… and beautiful."

Cain bowed. "We trust each other."

"And that," she said, "is something the Order needs more of."

Eyes Across the Order

In the following weeks, Cain quietly observed how other Jedi were changing around him. Not all embraced his views—but many had started to reflect:

Agen Kolar began holding his meditations outside the formal chambers, allowing discussion of emotion without rebuke. A'Sharad Hett, always skeptical, trained privately with Cain once—and left saying, "You see the Force differently. Might be worth seeing where it leads."Shaak Ti watched Cain with focused interest, especially when she saw his compassion in action during diplomatic drills.Quinlan Vos, the most unpredictable, simply said: "Keep pushing. Shake the roots."

But not all were convinced.

Ki-Adi-Mundi dismissed the shifts as "youthful idealism."

Depa Billaba quietly voiced concern that Cain's emotional strength might invite confusion for those still seeking clarity.

Even Master Windu said little—but his eyes lingered longer on Cain now.

The Request

After training one evening, Cain approached Master Plo Koon and Master Fay in the Temple's twilight garden.

"I want to request access to the holocron of Satele Shan," he said, calm but direct.

Fay raised an eyebrow. "You're progressing quickly."

"Not out of ambition," Cain replied. "But because I feel my vision… needs refinement. She stood between war and peace, like we do now. She might have answers we can't find in the Code."

Plo nodded slowly. "You understand this holocron is far more strategic than Bastila's. Satele's teachings concern Jedi military philosophy, compromise with the Republic, and near-prophecy."

"I do. That's why I request it under your watch again—and only if I pass whatever test the Council deems necessary."

Fay smiled faintly. "Then let's see what the Council says."

The Council Speaks

In the tall council chamber, the request was laid bare.

Plo Koon stood behind Cain. Fay remained silent but present.

Yoda leaned forward. "Learn more, young Cain wishes. Risk more, he may."

Mundi frowned. "We've already allowed him Bastila Shan. Must we keep feeding these historical myths?"

Shaak Ti: "He's not seeking myths. He's seeking context."

Obi-Wan, seated in place of his temporarily absent master, added: "He's guiding others… without challenging us. That's rare. Perhaps we owe it to him to listen."

Windu spoke last.

"If he's allowed access to Satele Shan… then we will test his understanding of war, of compromise, and of leadership. If he passes, he studies. If not, the conversation ends here."

Cain stepped forward and bowed.

"I accept the terms."

After the Session

Outside the chamber, Fay placed a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"You're changing the Order," she said.

"I'm not trying to rebel," Cain said. "Just… remind them of what they forgot."

Plo Koon looked at him with quiet pride.

"Then prepare yourself, Cain. Satele Shan will not be a lesson in comfort. She will test your purpose—and your leadership."

Cain nodded.

"I don't want comfort. I want clarity."
