Chapter 1 - 1.Fire & Water

Aarohi and Meera—childhood best friends, complete opposites, yet inseparable.

Aarohi (Fire): She walks into school with quiet confidence, head high, eyes sharp. She's bold, fearless, and untamed, the type to break rules without a second thought. She dominates the basketball court, stands up to teachers, and never backs down from a challenge. Fire doesn't ask for space—it takes it.

Meera (Water): She moves through life with ease, blending in yet always in control. Calm, observant, and precise, she never rushes but never falls behind. She's top of the class, the problem-solver, the one who can end an argument without raising her voice. Water never fights—it flows around obstacles and still wins.

At lunch, Aarohi drops into her seat, stretching. "Almost punched someone today."

Meera barely glances up. "Only 'almost'? You're losing your touch."

Aarohi grins. Meera sighs. Fire and water—forces that shouldn't mix, yet can't exist without each other.

The bell rings, signaling the end of lunch. Aarohi slings her bag over her shoulder, eyes scanning the hall as she heads toward her next class. Meera follows, her steps deliberate and unhurried.

Aarohi turns to her, her tone challenging. "You sure you don't want to try out for the basketball team? You'd be unstoppable."

Meera doesn't even look at her. "I don't need to prove anything."

Aarohi chuckles, nudging her friend playfully. "You could at least pretend to enjoy a little chaos for once."

Meera smiles, a faint one. "Chaos isn't always the answer, you know."

Aarohi stops, glancing at her. "But it is fun. When was the last time you did something without overthinking?"

Meera pauses for a moment, then shakes her head. "Maybe it's not about doing things without thinking. Maybe it's about doing things that matter."

Aarohi raises an eyebrow. "And what matters to you, Meera?"

Meera looks ahead, her voice quiet. "People. The ones who need you, who you can help. Making a difference, even if it's small."

Aarohi's grin falters for a second, but she quickly recovers. "Guess that's why you're the perfect one to lead the debate club, huh?"

Meera shrugs, unfazed. "I do what I can."

They walk in silence for a few moments, the air thick with their unspoken understanding. Fire and water, intertwined but never truly the same.
