Chapter 5 - The Deep Wound

Chapter 5

After Leon's arm was broken in the training hall, he was forced to return to the manor, dragging the weight of his humiliation. The pain was both physical and emotional. Before he could reach his room, a servant blocked his path—not just any servant, but Felix, the head butler and the man responsible for maintaining order within the manor.

Felix looked at Leon with disdain and spoke in a cold voice:

"Come with me, young master. I can't let this situation remain as it is."

Felix led Leon to a small infirmary within the manor, where he pulled out a small bottle filled with a green liquid. Its smell was foul, but Leon didn't care. The moment Felix poured the liquid over his wound, a searing heat spread through his arm, and the pain gradually lessened.

Before Leon could utter a "thank you," Felix cut him off with a mocking laugh:

"Don't get the wrong idea. I didn't help you because you deserve it. I did this because I am responsible for the manor, and any injury within your family reflects on my reputation."

After a brief pause, he continued in a harsh tone:

"I used the cheapest potion we have. It's meant for treating animals… I figured it would suit you perfectly."

Leon was stunned, unable to respond. Felix continued with a sneer:

"You are nothing but a disgrace. A pitiful sight. Now, get out."

Leon left the infirmary, his face burning with shame. He tried to brush off what had happened, but as he turned a corner, he found his twin sisters, Celia and Marissa, whispering and giggling to themselves.

"Did you hear that?" Celia said, covering her mouth as she tried to stifle her laughter.

"Of course I did. He told him he was just like an animal!" Marissa replied, laughing even louder.

Leon tried to ignore them and walk past, but Marissa deliberately extended her foot, tripping him. He fell hard, his injured arm slamming against the ground, sending a fresh wave of pain through him. Felix's words about the cheap potion echoed in his mind, and the pain only seemed to confirm it.

The twins burst into laughter as they walked away.

"Truly pathetic!" Celia mocked before disappearing down the hall.

Leon slowly picked himself up, clenching his fists, trying to hold back his tears. As he made his way toward his room, he was suddenly stopped by his eldest brother, Eden, known for his cruelty. Beside him stood his friend Ravel, a noble from another family.

Eden looked at Leon with contempt and smirked.

"Oh, look who we have here. The failure."

Ravel chuckled and added,

"Seems like he's had a rough day. Should we make it more interesting?"

Leon said nothing. He kept his gaze on the ground, trying to avoid provoking them. But Eden grabbed him by the collar, lifting him slightly.

"Do you think you can just ignore me? You don't even deserve to carry our name."

Leon tried to break free, but Eden shoved him hard against the wall.

"Do you really think that cheap potion will make you stronger? You're nothing."

Leon collapsed to the ground again, his body aching. He could feel the anger and sorrow burning inside him, but there was nothing he could do.

As Eden and Ravel walked away, laughing, Leon whispered to himself:

"One day… I'll prove them all wrong.
