After chatting with several Pokémon for a while, Renji sent them all to the back of the wooden house. The quiet creak of the old floorboards accompanied his steps as he returned to his small room. The sunlight that filtered through the bamboo blinds cast a golden hue over the wooden walls, but Renji didn't care about any of that right now.
"System, open the bronze treasure chest for me."
As Renji's voice echoed through the room, the bronze treasure chest before him slowly opened with a dull groan. A brilliant light emerged, and the next moment, several items materialized in front of him like gifts from the heavens.
"Get undetected Pokémon egg!""Get magical fruit*5!""Get the special item Dragon's Tooth!"
[Undetected Pokémon Egg]: There is a magical creature inside, but no one knows what it is.
[Magic Fruit]: Taking it can upgrade Pokémon within level 60 by one level.
[Dragon's Tooth]: Dragon-type Pokémon wearing this item can increase the damage of dragon-type moves by 1/5.
Staring at the glowing items, Renji's eyes lit up in genuine surprise. He reached forward and carefully held the Pokémon egg in his arms, cradling it with a tenderness that came from something deeper than just curiosity.
"System, can the Pokémon hatched from this egg be cultivated by myself?"
"Yes, host. The items opened from the exclusive treasure chest can be used at will by the host."
Hearing this, Renji's arms tightened around the egg. He didn't know what kind of Pokémon would be born from it, but it didn't matter. Whether strong or weak, this would be his first. His first real companion in this world. It was a beginning, a fragile seed of something that might one day bloom into strength, trust, and bond.
He looked at the remaining items on the floor with satisfaction. "I was thinking before that these wearable items and level-up items are so expensive. I wondered if I'd ever be able to afford them. I didn't expect the exclusive treasure chest to actually contain them."
His voice carried a faint tremor, not of fear, but of quiet joy. This wasn't just about the items. It was a symbol—a confirmation that his struggles were finally starting to yield fruit.
"System, open the gold treasure chest as well."
As soon as the command was issued, the second chest burst into light even brighter than the first.
"Get the large incubator for Pokémon eggs!""Get the Pokémon healer!""Get Master Ball*10!""Get Dragonite (level 90)!""Get 10 acres of fruit trees and good farmland!"
[Large Incubator for Pokémon Eggs]: Can speed up the hatching of Pokémon eggs.
[Pokémon Healer]: Can heal Pokémon injuries.
[Master Ball]: An extremely rare Poké Ball.
[Dragonite]: A quasi-god Pokémon with a base stat total of 600.[Fruit Tree Farm]: Land that is more suitable for fruit trees to grow.
"Dragonite?" Renji was stunned. He stared at the system window for several seconds, brain failing to register the enormity of what he had just obtained. "System, I love you so much. These three months of hard life have not been in vain."
He nearly cried. For the past three months, even with the Pokémon Entrustment System, his life had been a constant dance on the edge. He had lived in fear—fear of exposure, fear of discovery by Konoha's more cunning elders. Naruto's visit had left him shaking; the thought of those in power learning of the Pokémon had haunted him day and night.
But now? Now, he had Dragonite.
A level 90 Dragonite.
No one in Konoha could threaten him anymore. No shinobi, no elder, no hidden danger. This wasn't just a partner—it was his safeguard, his guardian, his sword in the dark.
He picked up the Master Ball that had come with Dragonite and clicked the button. A burst of red light lit up the room as a tall, sturdy figure materialized. Its large body, small wings, and gentle eyes gave it a noble presence. Dragonite looked at him with warm curiosity, then suddenly stepped forward and pulled him into a hug.
"Okay, okay, put me down." Renji barely got the words out through a startled laugh.
Dragonite gently released him, and Renji couldn't help but grin. "You're strong, but you've got a gentle heart. That's good."
[Dragonite]Category: Dragon PokémonType: Dragon/FlyingAbility: Mental Power (Not easily affected by negative effects)Hidden Ability: Multiscale (When in perfect condition, damage received is reduced by 50%)Level: 90 (Shadow Level)Moves: Wing Attack, Dragon Dance, Outrage, Hyper Beam, Hurricane...
The move list alone stretched on and on—29 in total. It was a walking arsenal, a dragon at the peak of its power. Renji couldn't believe his luck.
"Dragonite, you'll be my partner from now on. I'll give you a gift." From his inventory, he retrieved the Dragon's Tooth and handed it to Dragonite.
The Pokémon hesitated for a moment, clearly touched.
"Take it," Renji insisted, placing it gently in Dragonite's hand. "You're my partner. Who else would I give it to?"
Dragonite accepted it with a nod, and Renji smiled again. It was a small gesture, but one that forged the beginnings of a real bond.
After a few more words, Renji turned his attention back to the remaining items. The incubator and healer were straightforward, but incredibly useful. He especially appreciated the incubator—he hadn't forgotten the Pokémon egg he had received earlier. With this, it would hatch much faster.
His gaze fell to the ten Master Balls next. They were incredible items in the Pokémon world, but here, in this shinobi world, they were nearly useless.
"There are no wild Pokémon here. Even if it has a 100% capture rate, what's the point?" He sighed, shaking his head. "Ten million points each… It would've been better if the system just gave me 100 million points directly."
Lastly, his eyes landed on the farmland. He couldn't even begin to guess how the system had pulled that off. But it had, and that was enough.
Dragonite watched him curiously, and Renji smiled. "I'm fine. Let me just get you something first."
He exchanged a bag of special energy cubes for Dragonite and another bag of low-level ones for the others—Charmander, Squirtle, and the mystery Pokémon still waiting to be hatched.
"I really need to earn points faster," Renji muttered after spending 1050 points in one go.
With that, he led Dragonite outside, where the seven Pokémon had gathered near the back of the wooden house. As he opened the bags of energy cubes, the Pokémon swarmed over eagerly—until they saw Dragonite.
They froze.
The pressure that came off Dragonite wasn't intentional, but it was immense. Like a god standing among children. Still, after a few cautious glances, they returned to eating.
"No, wait—" Renji paused, scanning the little ones. "Bulbasaur doesn't seem to have food. Will it be hungry?"
He frowned, then shook his head. "Forget it. Bulbasaur's a grass-type. Missing a meal won't hurt it."
He sat back and watched. Watching these Pokémon eat was more entertaining than any live stream. They were adorable, full of life. Each one had its own personality, quirks, and charm. Even the silence held a kind of magic.
When they were full, Renji sent them off to play and returned to his room. He closed the door behind him, sat cross-legged on the floor, and took a deep breath.
The system had given him strength, allies, and hope. But that wasn't enough.
He still had to grow stronger.
With that thought, Renji began to meditate, focusing on the power within him.
The power of his spiritual mind.
