The year was 1857.
Whispers drifted through towns and villages—an unsettling tale that spread like wildfire. It was the kind of story people shared in hushed tones around candlelight, unsure if they wanted to believe it or not.
The story was about a 17-year-old girl who gouged out her own eyes after witnessing something no human was meant to see—a cosmic vision that shattered her mind.
As the story goes, her father was an inventor, a quiet and reclusive man devoted to his only child. She had been losing her sight for years, and he worked tirelessly to create something—anything—that might save her.
After months of obsession, he finally presented her with a strange pair of glasses.
They weren't ordinary lenses. He claimed they could restore her sight by "realigning her vision." The girl put them on.
And what she saw wasn't salvation.
Through the glasses, the Earth appeared as a planet—trapped inside the stomach of a vast, incomprehensible creature. A cosmic beast, ancient and endless, whose mind pulsed through every corner of existence.
This creature, the girl realized, had been feeding on humanity for centuries. It controlled human thoughts, desires, even memories—ensuring no one ever recognized they were being slowly consumed.
The vision was unbearable.
Screaming, she tore the glasses from her face and, in a frenzied panic, clawed out her own eyes with her bare hands. She never spoke again.
Her father, devastated and horrified by what he had unleashed, burned all his research. The blueprints, the prototypes—everything went up in flames. Then, one night, he vanished without a trace.
The glasses were never seen again.
Turns out this story wasn't just a myth but actual reality. Researchers were able to interview the women after several years of silence and this is how it went.
Interview-Log
Date: 16. May 17th ██
Interviewee: Kaylee Joanne Phillips
Interviewer: Dr. Tofu
Dr. Tofu: Hello, Kaylee.
Kaylee displays a nervous smile.
Kaylee: Hello, Dr. Tofu, how are you doing?
Dr. Tofu: I am doing splendidly, so tell me, how old are you as of now?
Kaylee: I am ██ years old as of now.
Dr. Tofu: And your mental health?
Kaylee: As of now, I have been on anti-depression drugs. I've gotten better over the years, but that vision still shakes me to my core. It's the only thing that keeps me up at night.
Dr. Tofu: About that incident, I'm here to interview you on that topic—
Kaylee: NO!
Tofu, shocked at her sudden outburst of rage, doesn't know what to do.
Dr. Tofu: Well—um… We kinda need—
Kaylee turns her head refusing to give him an answer.
Tofu sighs.
Dr. Tofu: Look, I know you're traumatized, but me and my team really need to know what's happening for the sake of learning more about Earth and reality itself.
Kaylee sighs but lets it go on, trying to be persistent.
Kaylee: When I first put on the glasses, as you know, I saw this incomprehensible being. All I can describe about its appearance is that the creature was big. Bigger than a star, or at least a few feet smaller than our Sun. It had eyes across its face. Speaking of it, the creature had 8 tentacles, with the tops of the tentacles having eyes. Its mouth was like a rotating disc filled with teeth, and between the gaps in its eyes were even more sharp teeth, with 4 limbs.
Dr. Tofu: Is there more, or...?
Kaylee: It used its tentacle eye thingys to control the minds of humanity. You could see out of its mouth the cosmos, which seemed to stretch out into infinity. You could even see spiraling dimensions, like the universe contained them. And, of course, Earth… it was like an apple to a hand—small but hard.
Dr. Tofu: So, you're saying Earth might be in some kind of cosmic digestive system?
Kaylee: Yes, precisely.
Dr. Tofu: Hmm, do you know the name of this creature?
Kaylee: As of now, no.
Dr. Tofu: So what do you call this creature? Just "creature" or...?
Kaylee: Sothoth.
Dr. Tofu: And your father?
Kaylee: I haven't gotten in contact with him in recent years. In fact, I don't even know if he's still alive or not. All I know is he burned all the blueprints and prototypes and left without a trace.
Dr. Tofu: What about your mother? Is she still alive?
Kaylee: She died of an illness that had her paralyzed and eventually caused her organs to shut down.
Dr. Tofu: I see. Are the speculations true about you gouging out your own eye
Kaylee then pulled off her blind fold revealing her empty eye sockets
