"Mamma Mia..."
Professor Crowler was deeply conflicted, arriving at the Fusion Club's arena.
'Why did something like this suddenly happen?'
As he held the Ancient Gear Golem in his hands, his mind was in turmoil.
As a teacher who had once tried to "frame" Jaden, hoping that this "delinquent" would drop out, hearing that a Blue dorm student had done something similar left him feeling completely unsettled.
He had tried to expel Jaden for personal reasons.
Now, this Blue dorm student was also acting on personal motives, trying to drive out students from other dorms, but as a teacher, he knew that such actions were undeniably wrong.
The parallel struck him hard.
As the saying goes, students mirror their superiors. Had his own attempts to drive out Jaden, simply because he lost to him, set an example for others?
Otherwise, why had that Hikaru kid not even bothered to argue and instead jumped straight into a duel?
"Professor, can we start the duel?" Hikaru, seeing Crowler remain silent for so long, reminded him.
"Mm... Alright, then. As the official witness, I now declare—"
"Duel!" (x2)
[Hikaru, LP: 4000]
[Ryu, LP: 4000]
"As your senior, I'll let you have the first turn," Ryu said, pretending to be generous.
He had already investigated Hikaru's deck—a Full Fusion deck.
The combination of Ready and Instant Fusion allowed for quick summoning of Fusion Monsters. It was indeed a solid strategy, but if the right cards didn't come together, the monsters summoned by Instant Fusion would self-destruct at the end of the turn.
Hikaru raised an eyebrow. By giving up the first turn, he could gain a bigger advantage!
"I won't hold back then, senpai—My turn, draw!"
Hikaru looked at his hand, analyzing it.
Meanwhile, Professor Crowler didn't utter his inner thoughts out loud, but he was well aware that these Blue dorm boys didn't care about his reasoning—they just wanted to get rid of him, so there was no need to dwell on pointless arguments.
In the world of dueling, problems should be solved through dueling! Falling into the trap of proving one's innocence was a waste of time!
As for Hikaru's hand… it was full of Fusion cards again.
Seeing yet another hand full of Fusion cards, Hikaru felt a bit helpless.
He had already stuffed plenty of monsters into his deck—whether it was Ancient Gear monsters or the Elemental Heroes that were easily available in the GX world, he had added quite a few, but unluckily, they just never made it into his hand.
His deck still had too many Fusion cards.
"I activate the Continuous Spell Card—Over Future Fusion!"
"I can reveal a Fusion Monster from my Extra Deck and send one of its Fusion Materials from my Deck to the Graveyard." Hikaru opened his Extra Deck, picked a card, and smirked slightly. "I reveal Labyrinth Tank and send its material, Cannon Soldier, to the Graveyard.
For the rest of this turn, I can't Special Summon a monster with the same name, nor can I activate its effects."
'Another new Fusion card? Just how many Fusion cards did this guy have in his deck?'
"Hmph, meaningless. Sending materials to the Graveyard does nothing. Without monsters on the field, you're completely defenseless!"
Hikaru simply chuckled before his expression turned serious. He raised his voice once again—
"Foolish!"
"Huh?"
"Fusion is the noblest summoning method! As a member of the Fusion Club, you dare to make such a careless judgment? You have no respect for Fusion at all! Just wait. I'll soon show you the true nobility of Fusion!
I set two cards and end my turn!"
'Boasting like that without even summoning a single monster?'
"Hmph, let me, your senior, show you just how ridiculous you are. A mere Yellow dorm student…" Ryu sneered coldly as he drew his card, his face twisting into a smirk.
"Ha…"
He looked at the cards in his hand and grinned viciously.
That damned Yellow dorm freshman—not only did he overestimate himself by stepping into their Blue dorm's "sanctuary," but he also called a professor over, exposing his little schemes and ruining his fun in front of everyone.
In his heart, Ryu had already come to despise Hikaru altogether. And now, seeing the cards in his hand, he burst into wild laughter.
"Haha! I activate the Spell Card—Polymerization! I fuse Giga-Tech Wolf and Cannon Soldier in my hand as Fusion Materials to Fusion Summon—Labyrinth Tank!"
Ruummble!
A massive motorcycle, covered in countless crimson drills, surged up from the ground.
[Labyrinth Tank] Level 7│Dark│Machine│2400 ATK
"You said I don't respect Fusion enough, didn't you? Then tell me, why is it that I'm the one summoning a Fusion Monster while you haven't played a single one?!" Ryu laughed arrogantly.
Hikaru didn't even acknowledge him. He simply pressed a button on his Duel Disk.
"I activate my Trap Card."
"A Trap Card? What, weren't you bragging that a Fusion Deck should be all about Fusion?" Ryu quickly retorted, thinking he had caught Hikaru contradicting himself. He burst into laughter again.
But Hikaru's eyes sharpened as he instantly revealed a card from his Extra Deck.
"Shut up and watch carefully!"
"You—"
"I activate the Trap Card—Flame Swordsdance!"
"Flame Swords Dance?!"
"This is a Trap Card that can only be activated when a monster is Special Summoned!" Hikaru pulled out a small yet stylish Fusion Monster from his Extra Deck and displayed it for all to see.
"I can Special Summon a Flame Swordsman, or a Level 7 or lower Fusion Monster with Flame Swordsman in its name!
Come forth—the legendary swordsman, Flame Swordsman!"
Blazing flames erupted into the sky as a warrior, his entire body engulfed in crimson, slowly emerged from the fire, gripping a massive red sword.
[Flame Swordsman] Level 5│FIRE│Warrior│1800 ATK
"It's Flame Swordsman!"
"Whoa, that's a legendary card!"
Hikaru slightly curled his lips.
A Fusion Monster that requires two materials yet only has a measly 1800 ATK—even in this era, it's not worth much. It's the kind of monster that Zane Truesdale could swat away with a single Cyber Dragon.
But… It really is a "legendary" monster card.
Because it belonged to the historic duelist, Joey Wheeler, who was said to be second only to Yugi Muto and Seto Kaiba. A rare gem among all rare gems.
The original owner of this card didn't even have it anymore, but Hikaru had worked tirelessly over the past few days, dueling and using Super Polymerization to bring it into existence.
"After Flame Swordsdance Special Summons a monster, it allows me to flip one face-up monster on the field into face-down Defense Position.
I can't bear to see a Fusion Monster suffer in your hands, so Labyrinth Tank—get covered up!"
The war machine that had just emerged from the ground had no time to react before a massive card projection descended upon it, forcing it into face-down Defense Position.
"Oh my god! Using a Trap to Fusion Summon, and then utilizing its effect for protection?!"
"Who is this guy? I've never seen him before!"
"A new student? His deck is so… Fusion-oriented!"
"This is what a true Fusion Deck looks like!"
"And Ryu actually wanted to kick someone like this out?"
"He may not be Blue, but his heart is purple!"
Some students from the Fusion Army, who had initially just gathered to watch the commotion without understanding the situation, were now utterly amazed.
They were part of the Fusion Army, the Fusion Supremacy Fanatics. Seeing Hikaru duel like this naturally filled them with excitement.
"Tch…"
Hearing the murmurs around him, hearing how even some Blue students who had initially supported him were now changing sides because of Hikaru's performance, Ryu gritted his teeth.
"A mere Yellow…"
A realization crept into his mind—today was not going to go his way.
Even if he won the duel, the other students probably wouldn't let Hikaru leave!
