Chapter 19 – So This Is My Power
The morning breeze slipped gently through the cracks of the makeshift cabin, flooding the interior with an intense light.
Cordelia, still lying down, slowly sat up, her eyes drawn to the radiant glow emanating from Adriano's body.
Cordelia:
— What a brilliant light...
She whispered in awe, watching the silver, pulsating aura enveloping Adriano like a living flame.
Carefully, she approached and knelt beside him.
— It's already morning... he should be waking soon. Just a little longer...
She said with a tender smile, observing his tranquil face as he slept.
Cordelia gently rose and began organizing the space to prepare breakfast. Suddenly, a metallic clang echoed in the distance — the sound of armor clashing.
She froze, her senses sharpening instantly.
Peering out the window, her eyes widened.
On the horizon, grotesque silhouettes emerged — monstrous knights clad in twisted armor with glowing eyes, mounted on warped beasts.
Cordelia (alert):
— Damn... the noise from yesterday's battle must have drawn them here.
Her eyes narrowed, quickly calculating the dire situation.
— And right now, when Adriano is awakening his inheritance!
She glanced back at Adriano, still bathed in radiant light, lost within his awakening.
— If he's interrupted now, he might lose the chance to awaken... and that power stone was all we had!
Taking a deep breath, she clenched her fists with resolve.
— How many monsters...? Around thirty... damn.
— My energy still hasn't fully recovered...
Her eyes glimmered fiercely.
— The only option is to hold them off until Adriano finishes his awakening and comes to my aid...
She stepped out into the open field, facing the oncoming horde.
— Alright then! Divine Possession... ACTIVATE!
Wings of pure light erupted from her back, radiant and majestic, her aura igniting with celestial fire. The earth trembled beneath her feet as divine energy surged.
— Take this, you idiotic monsters! Divine Lamb Kick!
Like a holy bolt of lightning, Cordelia launched forward, leaving a blazing trail. She spun midair with furious grace, channeling energy into her legs, then struck down with a blazing kick. The impact thundered — a golden explosion swept through ten monsters, their bodies hurled aside like broken puppets.
She skidded back, panting.
— Damn... if only my energy were fully recovered, I could've taken out half of them...
Her eyes darted back toward the cabin.
— Adriano, hurry and wake... I need you here...
Inside, Adriano began to stir. The light around him pulsed rhythmically, like a heartbeat.
Adriano (groggy):
— What kind of dream was that...? It felt like my father's divine spirit...
He slowly opened his eyes, feeling his body lighter yet brimming with unfamiliar power.
He clenched his fist; tiny sparks danced between his fingers.
— So much energy...
He whispered, awe-struck.
— With this power, I'm one step closer to my inheritance...
Closing his eyes briefly, as if connecting to something greater.
— Thank you for the strength, Father.
BOOMMM!
A violent explosion shattered the silence, shaking the cabin.
Adriano (alarmed):
— What was that?!
He rushed to the window, pushing the boards aside, and saw Cordelia locked in combat, surrounded by dozens of grotesque monsters.
— They must have come because of last night's noise...
But then he noticed: Cordelia was exhausted, her clothes torn, her aura flickering.
— Why hasn't she finished them off yet...?
His eyes narrowed.
— Damn... she hasn't recovered from the last fight...
Without hesitation, he leapt through the window, landing forcefully in the fray.
Cordelia (nearly breathless):
— My energy's almost gone...
She staggered under another strike.
— If Adriano doesn't show up soon... I'm done for...
BOOMMMMM!
A mighty roar tore through the air.
Adriano (shouting from afar):
— Sorry for the delay, Cordelia!
She turned, surprise widening her eyes as she saw him.
Cordelia:
— Adriano... you made it!
He landed beside her, the earth cracking beneath his feet.
Adriano:
— Yes. Now you rest. I'll handle this.
Cordelia (smiling):
— Then I'm counting on you.
Stepping back, she placed her trust fully in him.
Adriano (facing the monsters):
— Now it's just us, monsters...
Clenching his fist, he summoned his newfound power.
— Take this! Sonic Punch!
He launched like a shining missile, tearing through the air with a thunderous boom. His punch detonated inside the monsters, making them explode from within, as if a storm had erupted inside their bodies.
— Five down... ten...
Spinning gracefully in the air, his body glowing brightly.
— Sonic Kick!
His foot shone like a divine blade. The kick struck down with seismic force, shattering enemies in a wave of blue energy.
Finally, he soared high, energy spiraling around him like a silver hurricane.
— Sonic Earthquake!
He slammed his fist into the earth with full power. A brutal seismic wave radiated outward, splitting the ground and opening a massive crater that swallowed the remaining monsters.
Silence.
Dust rose slow and heavy. The battlefield was still.
Adriano (panting):
— It's over...
He said, standing tall.
Cordelia approached him with a soft smile.
Cordelia:
— Adriano... may I ask you something?
Adriano:
— Of course.
Cordelia:
— What's the name of the divine spirit that gave you this power?
Adriano looked to the sky, invoking a sacred memory.
Adriano:
— His name... is Samson.
