Chapter 2 - REBORN AGAIN TO SUFFER?

As I entered the portal, I wondered which lives and surprises I was going to encounter in my new world. When I opened my eyes, I knew that the world I had known before was no longer there. As I recalled my past memories, I thought, "Could this be different? I don't know, but I'm going to find out anyway."

Then I saw a lady wearing an outfit that looked like a nurse's uniform, but she was using circular devices to perform some kind of procedure—I did not know what she was doing. I looked around the place where I was born; it was a luxurious environment that almost resembled a palace. "Could I be the son of a noble?" I thought. I decided to discard the thought for now.

The lady in the nurse outfit said to me, "I'm going to take you to your mother." As I inched toward the room where my mom was, I was shocked. When she opened the door, I saw a beauty that could topple nations—if all women here were that beautiful, it would be an otaku heaven. As she carried me in her arms, I wondered, "Where is my dad? Why isn't he here? Or could it be that she is not his main wife?" It seemed my thought was actually correct because I saw her weeping as she cried that I'd messed up: "Why did I fall for this noble trickery? Now I'm in competition with four more wives—why me, being the fifth wife?" I wondered whether he would take care of his son.

When I thought all hope was lost, I saw a handsome, tall man with a long ponytail approach my mom. He said, "So, you haven't failed me. You've given me a son that is just like me—you've outdone yourself, Lara." As he took me, flung me, and caught me repeatedly, I thought to myself, "This guy is crazy! Doesn't he know I'm a baby who hasn't even reached a day old? What torture! They should have shut down my intelligence until I was two years old, like they usually do in rebirth, as I read online."

Then I saw Leonidas laughing at me. "This is my judgment for talking back to a god," he said. In my mind, I thought, "You can't just let it slide. Who gave you the title of god? It's clear you don't forgive. I need to speak to the manager of the gods—they need to hire a new judgment god."

"You won't get the chance," Leonidas said. "You passed this realm a long time ago, and you can't come back and affect it in any way." I then said, "How are we talking?" In case you don't know, I begged the god of this world to allow me to talk to him one last time—to explain the rules and what I need to know about this world. Even if you are favored by the gods, you need to understand something: you have two years to enjoy what humans call love and cherishment. After that, you will return to your original path. So consider your stay now a detour, as your debt is paid.

The god of souls then gifted you a powerup for your already overpowered system. It is a passive skill offering instantaneous MP recovery, high HP recovery, enhanced regeneration, a 10x boost to your stats on each skill and level-up, and the last, but most useful gift: from the god of technology and the god of wisdom—a high knowledge IQ, advanced simulation and crafting mastery skill with a touch of high material finding and gathering. There is also a magic furnace that can process any material, with the bonus of a high-tech magic factory that can create anything. Only your magic can open it, and I can shift its size to be as small as earrings, and function as a high-tech phone or laptop for programming.

The world you are in is called Archreon, and the country you are in is called Dyron. "Well, it seems my time with you is up. Goodbye, Leonard. See you soon—enjoy your two years," he said as I phased out of the realm.

I looked at my dad, who was watching me strangely. "Why isn't the baby crying?" he asked. "He's been staring at the ceiling for a long time—is that normal for a baby?"

"No, it isn't," the nurse said. "Let me check what's wrong with him." She carried him up and used her two fingers to slap his bottom. He felt pain for the first time and shouted, "Hey! What's wrong? How can you hit a baby for goodness' sake?" My body went against my will and started to cry.

"He's fine. What a fine child," my dad said. "He is my favorite by far. I'll remember to put this nurse on my list—she must feel the pain that I feel," Leo said as he drifted off to sleep. He woke up after some time, and when he opened his eyes, he saw his mom and dad discussing his future while cradled in his mother's arms.

His mom said, "I wonder what will happen to him in the future—whether those wives will let him live if they feel he's a threat, since he is the child of the king's favorite wife." Then his dad said, "Don't worry, my love. I will do my best to protect him. No danger shall befall him—for now, at least, that's what I can promise you. And I will give him the ring that, no matter who sits on the throne, immediately forces them to step down, because that ring bears an ancestral imperial decree."

But my mom said, "What if they find out about what we discussed? They will try to take away the life of this child—and mine." Then my dad reassured her, "I will do my utmost best. If by chance you were to die, I promise that I will not let that murderer live. I will punish him or her to my satisfaction."

She said that she felt reassured, but then asked, "Do you have a backup plan? As you know, your wives come from powerful families and they might do something to harm me and your child. What should we do when that time arises?"

"Well," he said, "if that time comes, you and your son will be separated so as not to be discovered until it is time for him to claim the throne." With that, he decided to leave, saying to her, "Lara, I'm leaving. Take care of my son for me."

I then thought, "So Leonidas is actually right. Well, I better enjoy the opportunity I've been given now—lemme enjoy it just a little longer." As I slept in my mom's arms, a maid was seen leaving the door to Lara's room and heading to one of the wives' rooms. Suddenly, the whole house was on fire. One of the wives said, "I give him two years. Two years—if he is still here after that, I will kill him personally."

As Leo heard the shouts, he said, "Well, the bulldog is barking again. Until then, you will have to bear the sight of me, and I promise, when I am strong, I will return and claim the throne you love so dearly. This is my promise to you."

After that, time flew by quickly. Two years passed, and on the day of his birthday, a dramatic, spectacular event that would change his life forever was about to occur.
