The gate that the Five Rulers closed down was colored Green and it was seen as the highest possible Gate that could open in the world.
Gates were color graded based on how dangerous they were, with the weakest being the Red Gate, followed by the Orange Gate, Yellow Gate, and then finally, the Green Gate. People speculated that there were far stronger gates than the Green Gate, but no one had ever seen one before, so humanity as a whole accepted that green was the highest level a Gate could reach.
After the Five Rulers, there was a surge in the number of superhumans all over the world. Scientists believed that it was due to the sudden influx of mana from the Gate that the humans were developing such abilities, but no one could really explain it since it was so sudden.
The superhumans who gained Gifts would develop one ability or another. Some of them gained the ability to use fire-based attacks. Others gained the ability to control objects with their minds, or the ability to heal any wound instantaneously.
But after a lot of superhumans emerged, the abilities in existence were eventually boiled down to five major divisions.
Brawlers - Those with physical-based abilities or augmentations.
Emitters - Those with elemental attacks or mana emissions.
Supporters - Those with abilities that boost or reduce the strength of others.
Healers - Those with abilities that can aid in healing wounds.
Special - Those with abilities that cannot be classified into any of the other four categories.
All the abilities in the world could be put under one of these five categories, and the government began a system where they would register anyone who developed an ability and make sure that they were following strict rules so they didn't misuse their powers.
The world rapidly changed after Gifts and Gates appeared.
It was discovered that the only way to grow stronger as a superhuman was by defeating the monsters found in the Gate. The monsters granted the superhumans a boost in power based on their potential, allowing them to surpass their limits and become even stronger if they killed enough of them.
It was also found that the monsters would leave behind something known as a Drop. The monsters found in the Gates were known to always leave behind a Magic Crystal as well as other less common magic items. This magic crystal contained the mana essence of the beast and it could be used to produce energy, or to enhance the weapons created for the superhumans.
And the bodies of the creatures could also be used to craft weapons and magic artifacts like magic staffs or healing items.
The amount of energy or mana that could be retrieved from these crystals made it a precious commodity amongst humans, and it wasn't long before people began offering huge sums of money to anyone who would go into the Gate to retrieve these crystals, throwing the world into a new era of Gate Diving.
The Five Rulers created their own guilds, cementing their place in legend as the five strongest guilds in the world. Then, many superhumans began to create their own guilds as well and they tried to recruit many superhumans and band together to head into the Dungeons.
These guilds registered with the government for a license and they became the only viable way for a superhuman to legally enter a Gate, reinforcing their place as the cornerstone of the new world.
They were graded in the same way superhumans were graded, from F Rank guilds all the way up to S Rank guilds who were at the very top of the food chain.
Right now in America, there were more than twenty guilds operating at the same time and fighting for jurisdiction and permission to enter the Gates. Out of these guilds, three of them were seen as the apex guilds.
They were the A Rank Green Hornet Guild, the B Rank Snow Storm Guild, and the S Rank BloodRaven Guild.
And since the BloodRaven was being led by one of the Five Rulers, the woman hailed as the strongest Supporter in the world, they were regarded as the strongest in America.
Jason didn't really care much for superhumans or what they did. He knew that most people in the world saw them as heroes who were risking their lives to save others, but Jason didn't feel the same way. As far as Jason was concerned, they were only doing all this because of the money it would make them.
Being a superhuman was now regarded as the highest paying job in the world, with some of the highest paid superhumans raking in hundreds of millions every month. It was abysmal to realize just how much money people were willing to pay for Magic Crystals.
On the screen, the news channel showed the members of the C Ranked Black Falcon Guild arriving on a large truck. It parked on the side of the road and the police and other military departments tried their best to keep the regular civilians and newscasters back to make sure that they didn't get in the way of the superhumans.
"Red Lightening! Red Lightening! a few questions, please! Can you give a few words to eh people watching at home!"
"Red Lightning! This is the fifth Red Gate your guild is handling the year! What do you have to say about that!?"
"Do you think your guild will ever challenge an Orange Gate!? Are you ever going to be strong enough for it!?"
"What do you have to say to the people comparing you to Black Bolt!? He is already an A Rank and you are still stuck at B Rank!"
The superhumans were being led by a man who was wearing a long black cape that covered his entire body, and when he looked at the camera, Jason felt a small chuckle escape his lips when he saw the black mascara surrounding the man's eyes.
'Does he think he's Batman or something?'
It was obvious that the man was going for a gothic, mysterious look, but the makeup only made him look stupid in Jason's eyes.
Mira also chuckled and she took the fries and burger to hand it to the customer that ordered it.
Mira knew that Jason wasn't interested in the superhumans and she didn't bother bringing them up in conversations since he wouldn't even bother talking about them.
As far as Jason was concerned, the superhumans didn't pay their bills, so why should he care about them?
Ding!
The sound of the diner door opening echoed before a loud voice sang out excitedly.
"I'm baaaack~!"
Jason groaned and Mira called out an excited greeting.
"Gina! So nice to see you again!"
The person who entered the diner was a beautiful girl with long red hair and green eyes. She had a magnificent figure with a large bust and wide hips that were enough to attract the eyes of any man. She was currently wearing a pair of tight jeans and a black t-shirt that had the words 'Bhad Barbie' embroidered on the front.
Her name was Gina Fey and she was Jason's childhood friend and a C Rank Emitter-type superhuman who worked with one of the lesser-known guilds in the country.
Gina smiled brightly when she heard Mira's greeting and she quickly went over and hugged the older woman gently.
"It's so nice to see you again, Mira. Did you get a new cream or something? You look ten years younger!"
Gina gave Mira an excited once-over and Mira put her hand on her cheek with a laugh.
"Please, don't tease an old woman like me. If anything, you're the one I should be complimenting. Look how beautiful your skin is. Is this another one of the perks of being a superhuman?"
Gina struck a pose with two fingers in a 'V' sign and smiled brightly.
"What can I say, I'm just naturally beautiful."
"More like naturally annoying. What the hell are you doing here? Aren't you meant to be at work? Or did they finally throw you out because your voice was too fucking irritating?"
Jason's voice interrupted from the side and Gina gained a tick mark on her head as she rushed towards him and put him in a headlock.
"Who're you talking to like that, huh!? You rascal! You're lucky I'm your friend or I would've given you an ass-whooping!"
"Oi, what the hell do you think you're doing!? Your excessively large boobs are suffocating me, you gorilla!?"
Jason grabbed Gina's arm and tried to pry it off his neck, but it was impossible to make it budge because of how powerful she was. Even as a C-Ranked superhuman, Gina still possessed enough strength to easily overpower an entire score of grown men with nothing but her physical strength! So Jason knew that if Gina really tried, she could snap his neck in two without even putting in any effort!
Gina tightened her hand and Jason grunted as he felt the pain increase, but then he felt the soft sensation of her breast pressing against his face, and all of a sudden he didn't mind too much anymore.
Dying by boob suffocation? It didn't sound like a bad way to go!
"I won't let go till you apologize!"
Gina yelled at Jason in irritation and Jason debated whether he should apologize or just let her kill him with her boobs! But he eventually decided that he didn't want to die a virgin and he tapped her hand in surrender.
"Fine, I'm sorry. Let the fuck go!"
Gina laughed at Jason before she let go and gave him a victorious smile. Jason caressed his sore neck and gave Gina a tired scowl. This fucking gorilla was going to kill him someday.
Gina was two years older than Jason, so she was already twenty years old. But unlike Jason, she didn't bother finishing high school.
Once she found out that she was a superhuman, she immediately dropped out and joined one of the guilds in the country.
