Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Hermione’s Secret Rivalry

Chapter 26: Hermione's Secret Rivalry

During the weekend, Dylan spent almost all his time in the library, except for eating and sleeping.

Such dedication allowed him to barely finish reading the precise recipes for advanced potions.

Fortunately, he didn't need to immediately find Professor Snape to brew potions. He had a week until the next weekend, which was enough time to finish reading the "Potions Safety and Usage Guide."

What he needed to do now was to further consolidate his knowledge of advanced potions.

To avoid making any basic mistakes in front of Professor Snape.

Another half week passed quickly.

On Thursday.

Dylan woke up early as usual.

However, to his surprise, Harry and Ron had also sat up.

The other two were still fast asleep.

"Hey, good morning!" Ron stretched.

Dylan had already gotten out of bed.

While packing his bag, he asked Harry and Ron in surprise, "Why are you guys up so early today?"

"Of course, it's because we have flying lessons today! I couldn't sleep all night!" Ron jumped out of bed.

Flying lessons?

Dylan remembered that they had flying lessons today. It was a new course arranged in the second week of school.

But what was so exciting about going to class?

"The feeling of flying freely in the sky must be great." Ron grinned. "My brothers always describe it to me like that!"

Harry also got out of bed: "Once we learn to fly, we can sign up for the Quidditch tryouts."

Quidditch tryouts...

Not interested.

Instead of flying around in the sky like a flying bull and bumping into others.

He would rather read a few more books.

Dylan had long lost interest in bumper cars.

Of course, maybe it should be called bumper brooms.

"Dylan, have you studied the Levitation Charm? You already know how to fly, right?" Harry blinked at him.

Dylan shook his head and corrected, "There's no such thing as a Flying Charm. To fly, you usually need to use magical tools and the Levitation Charm."

"After you use the Levitation Charm to make the broom fly, you can control the direction, and the speed naturally depends on the quality of the broom."

In fact, this showed that spells could be combined with magical tools.

Just like wizards could use wands to guide and amplify magical effects.

Many magical materials must have been used in the making of magical flying brooms.

Made through complicated procedures.

It was bound to be combined with the spell cast, thereby increasing the effect of the spell.

This was why high-quality magical brooms flew faster and were more agile.

"Flying is best done with an adult supervising. Trying it yourself can be unexpectedly dangerous."

Dylan said that he had not practiced flying at home.

"My goodness, is there something that you don't know, Dylan?" Ron looked surprised.

"...If I practiced flying at home and someone saw me, wouldn't the Ministry of Magic arrest me directly?"

Ron blinked and realized.

After all, he was a pure-blood wizard, while Dylan was different. He was just a Muggle.

The wizarding world had clear prohibitions on using magic in the Muggle world.

Harry walked to his bag: "I've heard many classmates say in class these past two days that they've practiced flying at home."

At this time, Seamus also woke up.

Hearing Harry's words, he sat up.

"I also heard that someone flew over the Giant's Mountain Range on a flying broom led by their parents!"

Ron rolled his eyes: "It must be Malfoy, that bragging guy!"

"The Giant's Mountain Range? The environment there is harsh, and normal people wouldn't fly there, right?" Dylan smiled.

"Most importantly, even in pure-blood families, parents usually wouldn't let their children try flying brooms before they went to school, right?"

Dylan looked at Ron: "Didn't your parents forbid you from practicing before school started?"

Ron nodded repeatedly: "That's right. One time George wanted to teach me, and my mom found out and gave him a good spanking!"

Seamus was stunned: "Is that so? Then they're bragging?"

Dylan shrugged: "Maybe."

Little wizards had strong self-esteem and competitiveness.

It was normal to tell a few lies and brag in front of classmates.

After packing his bag, Dylan took out the notes that Professor McGonagall had organized for him and held them in his hand, intending to read them on the way.

After all, he hadn't actually flown before, so he wasn't at the max level for the Levitation Charm, but he was at level seven.

In any case, he had mastered several max-level spells.

Even if those spells were dark magic, sometimes many spells had commonalities.

Drawing lines from points, paving surfaces with lines.

For Dylan, learning magic wasn't that difficult.

Not to mention that he had increased his magical talent a lot because of the achievement system.

Since almost everyone in the dormitory was up, Ron ran to Neville and shook him awake.

"Wake up, stop sleeping, let's go eat!"

"_Ah, what?"

Neville was still drowsy.

"Stop dreaming, get up!"

Under Ron's urging, Neville also got up.

He was honest and didn't have any morning grumpiness.

They quickly got ready and went to the Great Hall together for the first time.

"This is the first time we've had breakfast together!" Ron said.

"Dylan wakes up too early every day. Even if I wanted to wake up early, I couldn't." Harry found an empty spot to sit.

Dylan smiled and sat down without saying a word.

Before long, Hermione walked into the Great Hall and saw them sitting together, so she walked over.

During this time, because Dylan was able to complete magic practice excellently in almost every class and earn points for Gryffindor.

Hermione had been secretly competing with Dylan.

But after a while, she found that Dylan didn't seem to have any entertainment at all and was studying almost every moment!

And the knowledge he knew was beyond her reach!

The most hateful thing was that the questions the professors asked him and the questions they asked her were two completely different levels of difficulty!

Hermione had tried to answer the questions the professors asked Dylan, but...

The result was predictable.

So after several defeats, Hermione's mentality had changed slightly.

She no longer tried to compete with Dylan only in class, but instead secretly observed him.
