Chapter 1 - Waking up in the Unknown

In a small, dimly lit room, a hollow body sat on a worn, wooden chair, facing a study desk. The air was heavy with stagnation, the only sound being the soft creaking of the old wooden floorboards. The body, masculine and lean, was hollow in the sense that, it seemed completely lifeless. Its brows frozen in a perpetual stillness. The only signs of life were the gentle rise and fall of his chest, accompanied by the soft rustling of his hair as a calm breeze wafted in through the open window.

The masculine body remained statue-like for Just a moment longer, before it's eyes widened just a bit in confusion. The body remained still for another moment before saying, "Huh? Where am I?" A look of confusion etched on the masculine face, his voice laced with disorientation. He turned his head around to observe his surroundings, noticing the small room he was currently in–four jagged walls, with two doors in the wall opposite him, rusted metal pipes etched onto the edge of each wall, they looked old and busted, could water even flow through them without them bursting? There was also a tattered mattress in one corner of the room, and a functioning clock above a small wardrobe that looked like it could fall apart at any moment. There was also a mirror. Other than that, the only other furniture in the room was the study desk that he was currently sitting at.

'Where am I? Is this some kind of elaborate prank? My apartment was small, but I still had a cheap bed!'

On top of the study desk was a notebook, and pen. Nothing else. Except for a round hat.

The male, out of instinct, grabbed the notebook and flipped through the pages at unimaginable speeds.

He stopped when he spotted some text in the periphery of his vision. He looked at the text but it was written in a strange language. He didn't believe that such a language even existed. It looked more like drawings than text!

"What is this?"

He flipped through the remaining pages, but to no avail, as they was no more text.

He gave up, leaving the study table. He headed towards the mirror, becoming more and more stupefied. As he approached the mirror, he nearly passed out. Looking at himself in the mirror, he sighted someone. Someone who wasn't him. Someone who wasn't Solvan Grim.

The body in the mirror was relatively tall. It wore a white linen shirt with a black tie. Its bottom wore brown trousers, and his clothes were enveloped in a knee length black coat. With the hat that was on the study desk, he would look like a detective. His facial features were somewhat impressive–fare, white skin, pink lips, with somewhat bushy brows, long eyelashes, and sharp green eyes. His hair was decently long, just below his ears, and was parted to the back of his neck, leaving his forehead as clear as day. Judging from the shine on his hair, a gel was probably used in the parting.

"Who is this?" Solvan pondered,"Is he…me?" As Solvan moved, his reflection moved as well, corresponding to each little movement. This was the only thing that made Solvan believe that the man in the mirror was him.

"How could this be possible? Can someone just wake up in another man's body?! This has to be a dream, right?"

Thoughts raced in Solvan's mind. At first, he postulated that this was a dream, but his senses and environment felt too real to be a dream. He remembered something he once read about in a novel he managed to get his hands on once. Transmigration! It had to be! Waking up in a body that wasn't yours, what else could it be?! And from what Solvan understood from transmigration, most cases involved individuals waking up in someone else's body…in another world.

Solvan instantly ran to the open window next to the study table. He looked outside. It seemed that he was on the second floor of a two-storey building. Probably an apartment. This apartment was far outdated compared to the other buildings which were made out of fine materials. Solvan assumed that it was his world, until he looked down to the road. The road was made out of the finest material he had ever seen. It almost looked like some metal alloy. What was Solvan thinking?! He never even went to school to learn about alloys! He didn't even know what alloys were!

But when he looked at the cars that passed by, he was truly astonished.

The cars were so clean. Not a lack of dirt. But the material that was used. The cars seemed to hover on the road, rather than driving on the road using wheels. Solvan heard noises above, before turning his head up, and noticing Giant airships. Airships bigger than most of the building on this street. As the airships passed, giant shadows engulfed everywhere in darkness, leaving as the airships left his view.

'Incredible!' Was the first thing that came to mind when he sighted these godly bodies.

This was definitely a different world. He had never seen or even heard of such aviation bodies.

Solvan turned around from the window, walking away. He was truly stupefied at the sight of the airships. A truly magnificent sight!

Questions reeled in Solvan's mind. How could I have been transmigrated?! Was it God?! If so, why was I sent hear?! Argh! Too many unanswered questions! I was just starting my life as a journalist, bringing my mother out of poverty, and then this had to happen to me!

Before Solvan could continue his thoughts, an unimaginable headache inundated him, making him fall to the ground. 'Argh! What's happening?! It feels as if my head is about to burst!' Solvan thought, as he went through hell. In all his life, he had never had such a gruesome headache. It felt as if he was going to die. And honestly, he did want to die. To be out of his misery!

The next moment, countless images, emotions and scenes flowed through his head. He saw memories. Memories most likely belonging to the former owner of this body.

"When is this going to end?! I feel like dying?!" It was as if the Gods answered his prayers. The next moment, his head became calm once more. The gruesome headache faded away as if it was never there. Solvan could be seen as he lay on the ground, drenched in his own sweat. All the memories calmed down. But they were still there. Solvan saw everything that ever happened to the former owner of this body.

Austin Reeves was his name. He grew up in the Demon Continent's Country of the Raven, Capital City of Dirge, Oliph District.

Austin's father, Jacob Reeves, was a soldier in the Feather Army, the Country of Raven's strongest military power. Jacob died during an assault against the Minister of Raven, the leader of the entire nation. He fought to protect the minister, sacrificing his life to save him.

Austin's mother strived to care for Austin and his younger sister, Karla. As time passed, she owed many debts to all sorts of people. One night, she went out secretly to meet someone who she was owing, but she never came back…

Since then, Austin strived to care for his younger sister. He sold all sorts of scraps to earn small money, he worked in any sort of private institution he could to earn anything. At some point, he earned enough money to send Karla to one of the cheapest universities he could find. Austin hadn't finished school, but he wished for his sister to do what he could not.

Austin believed that the rest of his life would be like this till his sister finished university and got a job, but he was wrong. Three months ago, he was abducted by a Gate, thrown into the Demonrealm. He survived the allotted time which was two months, and was sent back to Earthrealm with a Potential Title, a Spell, a Spell Ability, and attributes.

This was the end of the memories. The last one month before Solvan unintentionally stole Austin's body, was strangely vague. He could only make out blurry images. But could never piece them together.

Solvan slowly stood up. The similarities between Austin's life and his were many, but he instantly threw these thoughts away. This world was much more than it seemed. It was one filled with demons, and magic.
