Year 3220
Around a thousand years earlier, when humans were on the verge of extinction due to wars, pollution, land degradation, natural calamities, and many other complex issues, they made a leap forward in their scientific evolution, overcoming their existential crisis.
They had once again proven why humans were considered the most intellectual species probably in the entire universe and why they had scientifically named themselves Homo sapiens, which literally meant 'wise human.'
From that point on, humans never looked back. Overcoming all the obstacles that could have led to their extinction, humanity climbed new and glorious heights.
For the next thousand years, humans made unprecedented progress. Humanity as a whole achieved incredible thing- things that were previously considered mere fantasy and fiction and things of imagination were made possible.
In their leap forward, humanity colonized space, and from being limited to one planet, they became a multi planetary species. They learned to alter the nature of a planet, to mould its environment according to their needs and to render it fit for their survival.
Humans discovered and manufactured weapons capable of pulverizing planets, stars, and other celestial bodies.
They mastered genetic theory and learned to rewrite genetic codes to shape human bodies into desirable outcomes. Although immortality remained a dream, longevity—i.e., lifespans of several centuries— was attained.
Superhuman strength and speed in a human body became entirely achievable. Even the genetic modification of the brain to improve its functioning was made possible. In simpler terms, it was now possible to increase human intelligence.
Though the genetic modification of the brain was entirely possible and had a high success rate, it was an extremely costly affair. Massive amounts of resources, both technological and intellectual— to reconstruct the genetics of the brain, were required to rewrite the genetic sequence of a human brain.

In the vast expanse of space, despite humans having colonized numerous planets, one planet remained the crown jewel of human civilization.
This planet was none other than the home planet of humans- the planet where it all began.
Now, it was occupied only by the elites among the elite. It housed the headquarters of the majority of scientific research centres, and only the truly influential and powerful had the privilege of residing there.
Almost at the geographical centre of this planet, a massive city named ORIGIN spanned a few square kilometres. This was the most prosperous and advanced city on the planet and in the entire human civilization.
Skyscrapers, hundreds of meters high and which were glowing in various shades of colour, illuminated the entire night sky over ORIGIN. In the centre of the city stood one massive tower, taller than any other in the city.
The tower itself was a scientific marvel. It had been constructed of materials sourced from various other planets. It was said that even a bomb based on nuclear fusion would not be able to scratch its surface.

The top floor of the tower housed a single hall that spanned the entire floor. At that moment, heaps of machines and wires sprawled across the hall. Standing among these heaps was a man who appeared to be in his late 20s. He had deep black eyes and dark hair, stood 6 feet tall, and possessed a commanding presence. Although he was around 154 years old, advanced genetic engineering and modification allowed him to retain the appearance of a man in his 20s.
He was Ethan Alaricon, the foremost scientist and researcher of human civilization. Ethan was one of the most intelligent individuals in the entire human race and a priceless asset to humanity. Not only was he a genius scientist, but he was also one of the wealthiest individuals in human civilization. Through the patents for his discoveries and innovations, he had amassed a massive fortune.
At that moment, Ethan was working on one of his most ambitious research projects—an endeavour with the potential to provide another giant leap for human civilization in its fast-paced evolution. Despite all what humans had achieved, their understanding of the vast universe was still very limited. The universe, the cosmos, the forces which worked in it, everything remained a web of mysteries. The more humans studied and discovered about it, the more entangled they became in its mysteries.
Seeking a deeper understanding of the universe and its workings, Ethan was focused on his latest research related to space and time.
A layperson from the 2000s might say that Ethan was working on some sort of time travel or teleportation machine, but the reality was far more complex.
At that moment, Ethan concentrated on the various display devices showcasing a wide range of data collected from thousands of satellites positioned throughout space.
Suddenly, the data on the devices began to fluctuate wildly. Ethan ran from one machine to another to determine the cause of these erratic fluctuations when one of the machines exploded. The explosion triggered a chain reaction of further explosions.
The night sky over ORIGIN was illuminated by massive blasts, and the prestigious building about which was said that it could bear a nuclear strike unharmed was reduced to dust.
In its place, where it stood, a massive pit charred black by the explosions had been formed.
