Chapter 9 - Lejie's Reluctant Embrace

Actually, at this point Jiang Hao could no longer make out what Lejie was saying—he was utterly overwhelmed by her bold approach. Truth be told, Lejie's enchanting beauty far surpassed Zhao Yanran's; her demeanor and figure left Zhao Yanran in the dust. Moreover, she exuded a mature, peach-like allure, and with both of them soaking in the pool, when Lejie kept her head high, he could clearly see a deep cleavage. Coupled with the enticing scent of her perfume and the aroma of rose petals in the water, it was so stimulating that not only could this young guy hardly handle it, even someone as refined as Liu Xia Hui might have found it unbearable.

Jiang Hao felt the burning heat in his lower abdomen intensify, his head buzzing so much that he could no longer catch Lejie's words.

Then, just at that moment—right as he was relishing this exquisite moment—the door of the Phoenix Pavilion was suddenly smashed open. In that instant, before Jiang Hao could react, Lejie abruptly turned and hugged him. With that embrace, Jiang Hao finally lost control—he started bleeding from his nose, and the burning sensation in his lower abdomen seemed to reach its peak.

At the same time, Lejie sprang out of the pool. In her hand, she now held a very sharp short knife. Jiang Hao, still crouched in the pool, was stunned. What was happening? Why were the resort attendants trying to kill Lejie?

But soon he regained his senses; after wiping his nosebleed, his hands fumbled in the water as he tried to locate that sharp knife Lejie had. The enemy had arrived—even though he didn't fully understand the situation, he was convinced that Lejie was on the right side, and everyone else was a villain.

Before he could finish searching, two attendants in white shirts had already collapsed in a pool of blood. Lejie was a true master with the knife—her strikes were lightning-fast, her movements seamless. Those two attendants were clearly sent to their deaths.

"Hmm?" At that moment, Lejie—wearing a swimsuit that revealed her full-back tattoos—turned and looked at him. In that moment, she appeared both heroic and exuding deadly intent.

"What are you doing?" Lejie asked with a frown.

"I'm trying to find a knife to help you!" Jiang Hao replied.

"There's no knife inside. Don't you have a gun? You can use a gun to help me," Lejie said seriously.

"No—I don't have a gun, do I?" Jiang Hao replied, confused.

Lejie burst into hearty laughter. "This kid is too cute." She laughed, her chest rising and falling with vigorous, trembling breaths. In that instant, all the earlier tension vanished.

She slowly walked to the edge of the pool and leaned in to whisper in Jiang Hao's ear, "You do have a gun."

"I…" Jiang Hao understood then; Lejie was teasing him, hinting at something else. He immediately lowered his head in embarrassment—he knew he had lost his composure, but who could blame him for being so captivated by Lejie's beauty and allure?

At that very moment, a group of attendants in white shirts rushed in from outside, all armed with machetes, iron rods, and similar weapons. Jiang Hao looked up in disbelief. What exactly was Lejie involved in? These people didn't look like good guys at all.

"Lejie, are you alright?" The bald man from earlier asked, his face filled with indignation.

Lejie merely waved her hand without speaking.

After the bald man nodded, an attendant immediately dragged the two dead bodies out and closed the door.

After the door closed, Lejie walked to the lounge area and wrapped a towel around herself.

Jiang Hao was still crouched in the water. By this time, the burning sensation in his lower abdomen had subsided a bit—after all, they'd just killed people, so no matter how horny he was, he'd be too scared to continue that way.

"I might have to stay here for a few days," Lejie said as she walked to the lounge, picking up a glass of red wine and taking a small sip.

"Anyway, thank you," Jiang Hao replied.

"No need, no need to thank me," Lejie waved him off.

After a moment, Lejie continued, "Aren't you dying to know what I do? Why someone tried to kidnap and kill me last night, and today someone came swinging a knife at me?"

Jiang Hao nodded seriously, looking at her.

Lejie sighed, "I manage the assets and companies my late ex-husband left behind, but there are always people trying to take everything from me."

"And now I have some crucial information that can bring my enemies to their knees, so they're getting desperate—willing to do anything to kill me."

"Oh," Jiang Hao murmured, nodding, though inwardly he sighed. So Lejie was a widow.

But this widow is so young—could Lejie really be only twenty-five? To be widowed so early… what a pity.

"You're a good kid, so I don't want you to get involved in—"

"I'm not a kid anymore," Jiang Hao interrupted.

"Swish—" Jiang Hao stood up from the water, but as soon as he did, he felt something was off, and he quickly crouched back down.

"Heh heh heh, still saying you're not a kid—so shy," Lejie giggled.

Her laughter was infectious, and after a while, she relented and said, "Alright, alright—you're not a kid; you're a man. A big man, okay?"

"Well, you go back first. Once I finish my work in the next few days, I'll come and take you out to unwind, alright?" Lejie added.

"I…" Jiang Hao scratched his head. "Maybe I should stay and help you—I'm actually pretty capable too."

Lejie shook her head, "No need. Besides, you still have to go back to work, right? Otherwise, you'll lose your job."

"But…" Jiang Hao started anxiously, scratching his head.

"Listen to Lejie—go back to work. You can't help with my affairs," she said.

Then Lejie walked over to the edge of the pool, extended her hand and said, "Come on, get up."

Jiang Hao's heart leapt; almost instinctively, he reached out and grasped her hand.

With a gentle pull, Lejie helped Jiang Hao stand up and step out of the pool.

This time, Lejie faced him directly, and as she pulled off her towel to help wipe his face, she said, "Listen, thank you—if it weren't for you last night, I fear I'd be…"

"Thank you," Jiang Hao replied softly.

She gave him a gentle hug and patted his sturdy back.

But in the next moment, Lejie let out a wry smile and looked down at him.

At that moment, all Jiang Hao wanted was to find a hole to crawl into… Honestly, if Lejie were bidding you farewell like this, how could you be so pathetic?

Lejie's face flushed as she muttered under her breath—this little brat.

But really, the kid was so hot-blooded. Doesn't he have a girlfriend? How can he still act like this?

"Alright, alright—you know what? From now on, I'll help you find a new girlfriend so you won't get all horny everywhere," Lejie teased.

Jiang Hao quickly wrapped the towel around himself and lowered his head, "Lejie, I'm leaving…"

With that, he hurriedly ran out.

Lejie laughed, and only after Jiang Hao had dashed out the door did her smile gradually fade. She then wrapped a towel around her body again and said, "Come in."

Splash—

The bald man was waiting outside. On hearing her command, he immediately stepped in.

Lejie's expression changed entirely—from the earlier warmth to an icy, unyielding coldness.

The bald man was sweating profusely; those two attendants who had just been killed were his men, and now they'd ended up killing Lejie. He'd been negligent, and if Lejie were to blame him, he'd have nothing to say.

However, Lejie didn't mention the two knife-wielding men. Instead, she said coldly, "For tonight's work, the team we planned earlier isn't needed."

"Also, arrange a meeting with Guan Tieshan for tonight at six. You choose the location," she ordered.

"Yes, Lejie, rest assured," the bald man replied, nodding.

"Get it done, and have someone clean the floor thoroughly."

"Understood, but…" the bald man hesitated, then said, "Lejie, Guan Tieshan might not be reliable—if he doesn't care about his daughter's well-being…"

"I know what to do," Lejie waved her hand dismissively.
