Arthur's mind reeled as he processed the information. Someone close to the king was a traitor? It couldn't be true. But Lyra's expression told him that she was deadly serious.
"Who is it?" Arthur demanded, his voice barely above a whisper.
Lyra hesitated, her eyes scanning the room as if searching for potential listeners. "I don't know," she admitted. "But I have a few... suspicions."
Arthur's eyes narrowed. "Suspicions?" he repeated.
Lyra nodded. "Yes. There are a few people in the palace who have been acting strangely. Lord Ravenswood, for one."
Arthur's eyes widened. Lord Ravenswood was one of his father's most trusted advisors.
"What makes you suspect him?" Arthur asked, his mind racing with possibilities.
Lyra leaned in, her voice dropping to a whisper. "I've seen him arguing with the king on several occasions. And I've heard rumors that he's been secretly meeting with some of the kingdom's enemies."
Arthur's heart sank. Could it be true? Was Lord Ravenswood really a traitor?
As they spoke, the tavern's patrons began to disperse, casting suspicious glances in Arthur's direction. Lyra's eyes locked onto his, a warning flashing in their depths.
"We need to leave," she said, her voice firm. "Now."
Arthur nodded, his heart pounding with anticipation. They were getting close to the truth, and he could feel the danger lurking just beneath the surface.
