Chapter 22 - Dragonite

The rain had started just after sunset — a soft drizzle at first, then a steady, soothing rhythm that beat against the cabin windows and rolled down the roof like a lullaby. The fire in the corner crackled gently, casting a warm orange glow through the otherwise dark room.

Seth stepped out of the bathroom in loose sweats and a towel around his shoulders, running a hand through his damp hair. The day's training had left him sore and tired, but nothing a hot shower hadn't helped ease. He was already thinking about collapsing into bed when he noticed something unusual.

The blanket was already pulled back.

And lying there — curled up on her side, massive wings folded low and pressed tight to her back — was Kaida.

His Dragonite.

She looked impossibly small for someone so big, her long, thick legs folded up and arms tucked close, her orange skin glistening slightly from the moisture she must've tracked in from the rain. Her antennae drooped slightly, and her soft, expressive eyes lifted to meet his the moment he stepped in.

"I'm sorry," she said softly, her voice barely above the rain. "I didn't mean to take your bed… I just…"

Her gaze lowered, embarrassed. "I was cold."

Seth stood there a moment, stunned — not because she was in his bed, but because of how timid she looked. Kaida was strong. Towering. Easily the strongest on his team. She carried herself with pride — but she always tried to be delicate, careful, afraid of hurting others with her size or strength. She never asked for much.

"Can I stay here?" she asked, voice barely a whisper now. "Just for warmth?"

Seth's chest ached a little.

"Yeah," he said, quietly. "Of course."

He walked around to the other side of the bed and climbed in. Before he could even settle under the blanket, Kaida moved.

She turned toward him and gently scooted closer, her thick tail curling off the edge of the bed behind her. One of her wings twitched, brushing his arm with its soft leathery texture. She bit her lip, then hesitated for a moment — as if bracing herself.

Then, slowly, her thigh slid over his legs.

And then her other.

She straddled one of his legs with both of hers and wrapped her thighs around him like a living, dragon-shaped blanket.

"Is… is this okay?" she asked shyly, her cheeks flushed a darker orange.

Seth couldn't speak for a moment.

Her thighs were massive — warm and soft despite her strength, thick and plush and completely engulfing his lower body. Her hips pressed against his, her chest resting softly against his shoulder. She curled herself around him like she was trying to protect him from the world outside.

Her purr started low. A soft vibration at first — gentle and shy — before deepening into something stronger, steadier, almost like a soft growl of contentment as she nestled deeper into his chest.

"You're warm," she whispered. "I like this."

Seth nodded slowly, his hand finding its way to her waist. She shivered slightly at the touch, her grip on him tightening — just a little.

"I know I'm… big," she murmured, "and I try not to crush things. But sometimes I want to hold you. Just for a while."

"You're not crushing me," Seth said with a quiet smile.

Kaida blinked, then smiled back — wide and sweet and bashful all at once. Her cheeks flushed again, and she nuzzled her head gently under his chin.

Her purring got louder.

She slid a little closer, one hand pressed to his chest, her arm curling over his side as she completely enveloped him. Her body radiated heat, and her tail thumped softly against the mattress.

"You smell nice," she mumbled.

"You're really affectionate tonight," he teased gently.

"I missed you," she confessed.

"I've been here all day."

"I know." Her voice dropped to a whisper. "But… you were hugging Sylveon earlier. And petting Lucario's ears. And… I got jealous."

Her arms squeezed him a little tighter.

"I didn't want to be mean. I didn't want to make you feel bad. But I wanted this too…"

Seth leaned up slightly and kissed the top of her head. "All you ever have to do is ask."

Kaida let out a soft gasp — not from surprise, but pure, trembling joy.

Then she giggled, her tail curling tight behind her. "Then I want this. I want more of this. And I'm not letting go."

He didn't ask her to.

The rain kept falling, but the room was nothing but warmth and soft dragon purring after that.
