I had watched it all unfold in the shadows. Kong and Godzilla, locked in their epic struggle, as I knew they would be. The clash of titans, each blow more thunderous than the last. But then, something I didn't anticipate happened. Mechagodzilla entered the battlefield.
I'd seen it in my past life—this mechanical monstrosity built to fight Godzilla—but watching it here, in person, was something else entirely. Mechagodzilla, an enemy unlike anything they had faced before, was far more relentless and vicious than I'd expected.
Kong and Godzilla were already weary from their battle, each titanic strike taking its toll on them. When Mechagodzilla attacked, it was unlike anything I could've predicted. Its metallic body moved with precision and deadly force. It wasn't just a weapon—it was a terrifyingly intelligent predator.
I watched as Mechagodzilla's claws slashed through Kong's defenses, sending him crashing to the ground. Godzilla, still struggling with his own injuries from their battle, was left unable to mount an effective defense. I could feel the weight of the situation.
This wasn't supposed to happen. I knew the future, but I didn't foresee this level of danger.
I could hear Kong's roar of pain as Mechagodzilla stomped on his chest, grinding him into the earth. Godzilla was already weak, his movements slow and labored, and Mechagodzilla wasn't letting up. It was only a matter of time before they both fell.
I couldn't stand back any longer.
Turning to my five elders, I spoke in a voice that left no room for doubt. "We help them. We don't stand by and let them die. We'll aid them, but we're not here to take over the fight. We're here to ensure they survive long enough to finish this."
The second elder looked at me, his brow furrowing. "But the battle is between them. Kong and Godzilla—"
"They don't need to fight for dominance anymore," I said, cutting him off. "Mechagodzilla changes everything. This is not a battle of alphas. This is a battle for survival. We intervene now, or we risk losing them both."
The fifth elder nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "What's the plan?"
"We spread out," I said. "The second and fifth elders, get to the edge of the battlefield. We need to draw Mechagodzilla's attention away from Kong and Godzilla. The rest of us—stay in the shadows for now. Wait for the right moment. We don't jump in immediately. We let them fight, but we make sure Mechagodzilla doesn't finish them off."
Without a word, the elders dispersed, taking their positions. The battle was intense. I could feel the rumble of the earth beneath me as Mechagodzilla pummeled both Kong and Godzilla with terrifying force. But we had to hold back. If we stepped in too soon, it would change the outcome. The fight had to happen between the two of them, but if either of them fell, we couldn't let that happen.
From the edge of the battlefield, I could see Godzilla still trying to recover, his atomic breath crackling weakly as he struggled to focus. Mechagodzilla, relentless in its pursuit, pounced, knocking Godzilla back again. Kong was barely able to rise to his feet, his body bloodied and battered. He roared in defiance, but the mechanical titan was unrelenting.
It was clear Mechagodzilla wasn't just a mindless killer—it was smart. It was playing them against each other, waiting for the right moment to finish them both off.
Kong swung his axe, a mighty blow aimed for Mechagodzilla's head, but the mechanical titan countered swiftly, dodging and slamming Kong's chest with its massive mechanical arms. Godzilla attempted to use his atomic breath once more, but it barely had the strength to push Mechagodzilla back. It was clear both titans were struggling.
It was now or never.
The fifth and second elders launched themselves from the shadows, their combined firepower lighting up the sky. The blasts of fire caught Mechagodzilla off guard, distracting it for just long enough. Kong, in his fury, took the opportunity to stand tall once more, swinging his axe toward Mechagodzilla's legs. Godzilla, though struggling, was able to muster a final atomic breath, this time charging it with all his remaining strength. The blast hit Mechagodzilla's chest, knocking it back several feet.
But Mechagodzilla wasn't down. It wasn't finished. It roared with mechanical fury, standing tall once more. It was just as powerful as before—maybe even more dangerous now.
"We need to finish this," I growled to the elders, my mind racing. "Mechagodzilla's resilience is beyond what I thought. If we don't step in now, we might not get another chance."
The third and fourth elders nodded, their own fiery breath lighting up the battlefield as they joined the fray, each strike trying to cripple Mechagodzilla. But it wasn't enough. Mechagodzilla countered everything with calculated precision, shrugging off their blows as though they were nothing.
"We need to hit its weak spots," the second elder shouted, barely audible over the clashing sounds of battle. "There's no other way!"
I watched as Kong and Godzilla continued their struggle. Kong, fueled by pure rage, swung his axe again and again, while Godzilla lashed out with his tail and atomic breath. But it wasn't enough. Mechagodzilla was too strong, too powerful, and it was too prepared.
Then, finally, I saw it.
A weakness.
Mechagodzilla's left shoulder, cracked from an earlier blast, was now exposed. It wasn't much, but it was enough. I turned to the second elder and nodded. "That's our shot."
Together, the second, fifth, and I coordinated our attack. The second elder unleashed a concentrated burst of fire directly at the shoulder, while I soared in and blasted it with my own fire, pushing it to the brink. The fifth elder, alongside the others, launched another wave of fire to keep Mechagodzilla distracted.
Kong saw his chance. With a mighty roar, he leapt forward, his axe aimed straight for the exposed weak spot. The impact was massive, the explosion of energy deafening.
Mechagodzilla stumbled, its massive frame faltering as the hit severed its shoulder entirely. Sparks flew from the exposed circuitry. Godzilla, with his last remaining strength, gave a final atomic blast straight into the gaping hole, and with a horrific screech, Mechagodzilla collapsed.
But even then, we couldn't relax. The battle wasn't truly over yet.
The mechanical titan may have been down, but its destruction would have consequences. We needed to stay vigilant.
"We did it," I said, breathing heavily, but my mind was already racing for what might come next. "But we must be prepared. There's always something worse waiting around the corner."
The battle wasn't over. Not yet.
