Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Building a Future

The Hollow Earth stretched out before me, and though its vastness felt overwhelming, there was a renewed sense of purpose coursing through my veins. The journey had been long, and now, here we were—at the edge of a new beginning. I stood at the threshold of the valley, where the rest of the dragon clan had settled. The dragons were waiting for me, their gazes filled with curiosity, determination, and a bit of unease. This was their new home, and it was up to me to make sure they thrived.

The clan had grown significantly, and now, the numbers were staggering. There were 152 adult dragons, including warriors, hunters, and caretakers, and 24 young dragons, all still learning to hone their abilities. It was an impressive sight, and though the land was vast, I knew that the Hollow Earth would not be an easy place to settle. But I was confident that if we worked together, we would make it our home.

I called the clan together, my voice carrying over the crowd.

"Dragons of the clan, listen up," I began, my eyes scanning the faces of those before me. "We have found a new home here in the Hollow Earth. There are dangers here, but there is also opportunity. This valley will be ours, but we must work hard to secure it."

I let the words settle before continuing. "The young ones will need to be protected. The adults will need to help them grow stronger. For now, we will use the caves as shelter while we begin building our homes. I want each of you to start gathering materials—rock, wood, clay—whatever we can use to build. This valley will be our new stronghold."

The clan murmured in agreement, the energy around them shifting from uncertainty to determination.

"Also, if you see any predators, do not hesitate to kill them. We will make this place safe for ourselves and the young. This is our land now, and we must protect it with everything we have."

The 3rd Elder, standing by my side, gave a sharp nod, his gaze sweeping over the other dragons. He had been with me since the beginning, and I trusted him more than anyone else. He had seen the growth of our clan firsthand, and his experience would be invaluable in leading the effort to secure the valley.

"We will start by clearing the area around the caves," the 3rd Elder said. "And I will organize a team to begin hunting and gathering. We must be vigilant, but we will work as one."

I nodded, grateful for his support. "Good. The rest of you, gather the materials and begin fortifying the caves. We'll need to make them strong enough to withstand any threats that may come our way. It's better to be prepared."

With that, the clan dispersed, the adults setting off to find materials, while the younger dragons began to play in the open areas, under the watchful eyes of the elders. The valley was starting to feel like home, and with every step, I felt more confident in our decision to settle here.

I glanced around, my mind racing with the possibilities. The Hollow Earth was a world full of wonders, but also dangers. But with this clan, this family, we would carve out a place for ourselves. We would thrive.

I turned back to the 3rd Elder. "Keep an eye out for any predators. The last thing we need is a surprise attack."

He nodded. "We'll be ready."

As I flew above the valley, I watched the dragons begin their work. Some were already scouting the perimeter, while others began digging or collecting materials. The young dragons played, their energy a reminder of what we were all fighting for. The Hollow Earth was vast, and there was so much left to explore, but this valley would be the heart of our new life.

For the first time since our journey began, I allowed myself a moment of rest. This was just the beginning. The Hollow Earth would be a new home for us, but we still had a long road ahead. The predators would need to be dealt with, the land secured, and the clan strengthened.

But we would do it together.
