Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Cut Off from the World? Sorry, I’m Going Home!

Saiki Kusuo's gaze shifted to the side of Ayanokoji Kiyotaka, where his target for this mission stood.

Horikita Suzune.

Her beauty was on par with Kushida Kikyo and Ichinose Honami, but unlike Kushida's cuteness and Ichinose's cheerfulness, Horikita exuded an air of coldness. Her expression practically screamed, "Stay away." She wore the school uniform's white skirt and dark black knee-high socks, with her fair thighs faintly visible between the hem of her skirt and the top of her socks.

[So his name is Saiki? He seems to be in my class, but there's no need to interact with him too much.]

'Although it sounds a bit annoying, this attitude is actually good for me.'

Saiki Kusuo thought to himself.

Earlier, he had used his telepathy to learn about the school's class placement rules.

At this school, academic performance wasn't the most critical factor. Adaptability, decision-making skills, and leadership abilities were all part of the evaluation.

Students placed in Class D clearly had significant flaws. Horikita Suzune's flaw was her lack of leadership skills and her tendency to see everyone around her as a burden. This was why, despite her excellent grades, she had been placed in Class D.

Saiki Kusuo took this opportunity to relay Kushida Kikyo's message to Horikita Suzune. As expected, Horikita's reaction was exactly what Saiki Kusuo had predicted—she outright refused.

"Please tell Kushida that I'm not interested in childish things like making friends."

After leaving these words, Horikita Suzune turned and walked away.

Saiki Kusuo wasn't surprised by this outcome. He had simply followed Kushida's request to ask Horikita for her opinion. The result didn't matter to him; as long as he got his promised coffee jelly, that was enough.

'I only came to buy some daily necessities to maintain my cover as an ordinary person and help Kushida ask Horikita. It's not like I did it for the coffee jelly.'

Saiki Kusuo muttered to himself internally before leaving the store.

...

Night had fallen, and Saiki Kusuo had returned to his dorm room.

He used his student ID to unlock the door and entered. For a school dormitory, the room was quite luxurious.

The space wasn't huge, but it was more than enough for one person. Aside from the bed and desk, there was still plenty of room. The room came with a private bathroom, a shoe cabinet, a wardrobe, and even a student computer. Everything necessary was provided.

However, for Saiki Kusuo, this didn't make much of a difference. He didn't plan to sleep here; it was better to go home at night.

Before that, he used his X-ray vision to scan the entire room, confirming that there were no surveillance devices. This ensured he could freely use his abilities in this small private space without being detected.

After confirming his surroundings, Saiki Kusuo sent a message to Kushida Kikyo about the less-than-pleasant exchange with Horikita Suzune.

Kushida: I see... But thank you so much, Saiki-kun! I'll treat you to a meal tomorrow! (* ̄︶ ̄)!

From every angle, Kushida Kikyo seemed like a very cute girl. Any ordinary boy would easily be drawn to her.

However, from the moment they met—or even before they officially met—Saiki Kusuo already knew what kind of person she truly was.

Not just her, but most of the people in this class were strange.

But for Saiki Kusuo, it didn't matter. As long as he could eat coffee jelly every day, that was enough.

'Speaking of coffee jelly, I should try out the jelly maker I just bought... Wait, is someone coming?'

Saiki Kusuo turned his gaze toward the door, and a few seconds later, there was a knock.

He opened the door to see a handsome boy standing there.

"Hello, Saiki-kun. I'm Hirata. Do you remember me?"

Saiki Kusuo looked at him. He remembered that this boy was also a member of Class D—Hirata Yosuke.

Through telepathy, Saiki Kusuo already knew why Hirata was here.

"I've created a class group chat and wanted to add you. Is that okay?"

Hirata Yosuke held up the school-issued terminal and smiled at Saiki Kusuo.

'Finally, someone slightly normal.'

Saiki Kusuo couldn't help but complain internally.

'A class group chat? For people in the same class, creating a group chat is definitely convenient. Although I don't need it, not joining might make me seem too antisocial.'

He nodded and joined the group chat Hirata had created.

Saiki Kusuo glanced at his terminal screen. Almost everyone in Class D had already joined the group, including someone like Horikita Suzune.

"Thank you so much, Saiki-kun! I'll leave you to rest now!"

Hirata Yosuke smiled and nodded at Saiki Kusuo before leaving the room.

Saiki Kusuo looked at his phone screen. The class was already buzzing with activity.

Karuizawa Kei: I can't believe this school has such perks! There's even a clothing store with so many cute outfits! Anyone want to check it out tomorrow?

Shinohara Satsuki: Sounds good! Let's go together!

Kushida Kikyo: Sure, sure!

Although it was only the first day of school, the class had already become quite close. Clearly, they were immersed in the excitement of starting school.

A school that provided food, clothing, shelter, and even gave students money—this was something they had never expected before enrolling.

Right now, Saiki Kusuo was probably the only one who knew that everything they gained at this school came at a cost.

He skimmed through the chat. The conversations weren't particularly meaningful, and only a few people were actively chatting. Many hadn't said a word in the group.

"No one else should be coming to find me now."

Saiki Kusuo then activated his teleportation ability and returned home.

As for being cut off from the outside world? That didn't apply to him at all.
