NALAIA'S POV
"Are you not going to use your power to hunt a deer?" Mirasha asked me.
I looked at her. "Don't make any noise; someone might hear you," I said.
"No one will hear us because there are only animals here," she replied, and I laughed.
"Oh, right, sorry," I replied, and she laughed too.
I released power and then I killed the deer, then it fell in front of us. After looking at it, I let out a sigh and wiped my palm as though it were dirty, despite the fact that I hadn't yet touched anything. After giving Mirasha a quick glance, I gave her a high five.
We decided to go back to the palace; I carried it on my back and the other soldier was looking at me amazed at what I did. I chose to ignore them and turned to face Prince Zixs, who was staring at me gravely as we entered the palace. He ordered his soldier to take the deer. Mirasha and I exchanged glances and grinned.
"I wonder how you hunt a deer in just one snap," he said while looking at me. "You didn't have any wounds indicating that you chased after him."
"A trap," I simply answer.
"She trapped the deer; it was already planned in the first place before she prepared those traps for the deer you wanted," Mirasha said, bowing at him.
I looked at Mirasha; I was holding my breath to think of the answer. I don't want them to know that I have powers because if that thing happened, it's my end. Prince Zixs stood up, and in just a snap he changed his form in front of me. I just looked him in the eyes and didn't show any fear. He growls at me, and I close my eyes because of what he did.
He has bad breath.
"Do you want me to take an example for you to know how I hunt your food, your majesty? " I inquired in a polite manner.
He goes back to his human form, turning his back on me. I don't understand him; I have no idea what was going through his head. I grasped Mirasha's hand while flinching at what he did. When we are about to go, Prince Zixs says something unexpected.
"Thank you," he said, then left.
My heart fluttered because of that. We go to the maid's quarters. The prince didn't give me the command to hunt for his food while we were in the Lapiro Pack, so Mirasha and I took some time to relax. The time had come for us to go and head back to the palace. I merely stared at the individuals there as I walked.
So this is what the Lapiro Pack looked like?
Although their eyes were odd, Prince Zix's eyes were much more peculiar. I couldn't stop staring at their bodies as I looked at them. When Mirasha touched me, I gasped and turned to face her.
"Why?" I asked.
"Don't you remember anything about this place?" she asked me, which made me frown.
"What do you mean?"
After examining the entire land, I inferred what she meant. "It feels like I've been here before, but I don't remember it clearly," I remarked, turning to face Mirasha once again.
She just smiled at me and we just kept walking. When everyone was tired, we decided to rest and while sitting on the rock, I couldn't help but be mystified by Mirasha and what kind of creature she was. She had the power to see other people's past lives and what kind of people they were. Prince Zixs got out of the wagon and then he looked around. I just hugged myself, then I bowed down because of the annoyance I was feeling. It wasn't because we walked far but because my stomach was growling and we didn't even have any food.
"Hey ugly maid,"
I looked up and saw Prince Zixs' face and then he handed me something. I glanced at it, and when I saw the food, I smiled. I took it, ate it, and even shared it with Mirasha. However, I paused to eat and turned to face the prince, who had just gone back to his wagon.
"Did he eat something good?" I wondered to myself.
I didn't even think about what Prince Zixs had done; to be honest, he was strange to me. When we got back to the palace, Brina and Xas immediately greeted me, and I smiled when I saw the two of them. They looked at the girl next to me; I introduced Mirasha to them.
"I met her when we were walking to Lapiro Pack," I said.
"I'm glad to meet you," Mirasha said, then she shook hands with Brina and Xas. "You have good intentions. There's no doubt that you were chosen by creation to be the guardians of a princess," she said. The two looked at each other.
"Princess?"
Mirasha simply grinned and gave the two no explanation for her words. In any case, Mirasha and I returned to our job. No matter where I went, I kept her by my side and treated her like a sister.
Mirasha was staring at me as I was cleaning. I paused what I was doing and turned to face her. "You're thinking deeply, Mirasha? Do you miss your parents?" I asked.
She let out a sigh before grinning sourly. "I don't miss them. The truth is, I'm grateful to you for keeping me away from them. It just makes me think because even when others don't treat you well, you still smile at them and show them kindness. Do you know that your kindness will lead you to your death?" meaningfully, she said.
I didn't understand what he said but I was sure of one thing. She wasn't ordinary and I didn't care what she said because she wasn't the one who died because of being kind. I knew that in myself, my patience also has its limits. I know my boundaries, and I'm not like what she says. I went to the library to tidy up after cleaning, and as soon as we walked in, I was overwhelmed by how many books there were.
"There are so many books," Mirasha said in amazement.
"You can't mess with that," I said and shut the room's door.
"I can find out the contents of the book when I touch it," she stated, then I turned to face her.
"What?"
She smiled at me before approaching a shelf and pulling up a book. The letters emerged as she touched it, and I folded it before returning it to its original position.
"I get it, you're not ordinary." She glanced at me. "You're a low-class witch, aren't you?" I said, and she nodded at me.
I sealed the door so that no one could enter. "You've been cursed, Nalaia," she whispered softly, making my brow furrow even more.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked.
"You don't know?"
I looked into her eyes and I could see that she was telling the truth. She knew who and what kind of person I was and who I was in my past life. I took a deep breath, then took the rag and started cleaning.
"It's better if you just help me. Whatever you're saying," I said, then she helped me.
After we finished cleaning the library, we decided to take a break. But it seemed like that wouldn't be given to us because the soldiers suddenly called us. They said the prince was calling us and we had no choice but to follow them because otherwise, that man would get angry again.
When we reached the prince's room, Mirasha and I immediately bowed. "What can I do for you, your majesty?" I asked, bowing.
I heard him sigh, then I looked up at him. "Winter is coming soon. We need to hunt more for our food," he said, and I looked out the window.
The prince seemed to be getting ready for winter already. When that day arrives, I wouldn't be shocked since, in this environment, even if they are powerful, they will get weaker if they eat less. I turned to face the prince again, and he smiled at me.
"You will show me how you hunt," he told me.
I grin at what he said. "Sure, I will not be stingy, and you will see how I hunt," I said, then he stood up.
He suddenly appeared in front of me, then he grabbed a grip of my chin and applied more force. I looked into his eyes and he fought to keep his gaze on me until he finally gave in. After releasing me, he signaled for the soldiers to follow him. I looked at Mirasha and I couldn't take her with me so I left her with Brina and Xas.
"Be careful," Mirasha said and I nodded to her.
When we reached the forest, I prepared what I needed using only what I saw around me. When I was sure that they were enough, I turned to the prince, who was just looking at me. His other soldiers started hunting. They were catching more and to be honest, I was annoyed that he could hunt but he enjoyed seeing me struggle with his nonsense. They are fvcking wolves and they know how to hunt for their food.
"Hide for now; I might not catch what I need to catch," I said, and he followed what I said.
I listened and looked around to see what would happen. I also scaled a tree, and as a large bear approached, it instantly fell into the trap I had set, and I used my magic to render it unconscious. I looked at Prince Zixs and smiled at him after the others were in shock at what I had accomplished.
"See? That's how I hunt," I said and he just nodded at me.
"Not impressive," he said and got down from the tree, then I followed.
"It's good that I still catch you like this, but you don't even know how to appreciate it," I said and then picked up the bear.
He was surprised by my strength and how I was able to carry a large animal that was twice my size. A soldier took it, then I sat down on the floor. I looked at Prince Zixs; he just turned his back on me, and they left. They left me in the forest, and I clenched my hand.
I stood up, then followed them but I stopped when I realized that this was not like the forest I was heading to. This forest was new to me, and I didn't know where to go to get out of the forest.
"This is annoying!"
I gasped in shock when I heard a rustling sound and immediately looked around. Based on its movements, it was not a forest animal. I seemed to freeze in place when I felt the tip of a sword behind me and I slowly turned to see who it was.
"I'm glad to see you again, Nalaia," the woman said and then gave me a silly smile.
"I-It's you again…"
After tilting her head, she moved the sword's blade from my chest to my stomach. After she continued, "He doesn't really recognize you... It's fun to see you struggle," I winced.
"I'm not new to struggling, but whoever you are torturing me, I will get revenge on you and more than what you did to me." She laughed, then put away her sword. I didn't know what was funny; I just looked at her evilly. "Are you crazy?"I said, annoyed.
She paused her laughter and turned back to face me. She was on top of me and suddenly choked me. I could barely breathe from what she was doing and I couldn't use my power because of what she did.
"Fate is still kind to you because you can't die!" she shouted at me.
There was a rustling sound, so she swiftly looked to her right and jumped on top of me. I didn't get up right away. He gave me a quick glance, and he turned to look around. When he was sure there was no one else, he looked back at me. He frowned when he noticed something on my neck.
"What happened to this?" he asked.
