Chapter 11 - Chapter 10: The Quiet Rebellion

Last Chapter Recap: "Good. In that case... sweet dreams," Brody said, walking away.

"Phew..." Adam muttered to himself.

NOW

"I like the spacious room look. I even have a small shelf to put my uniform on."

"It looks like all of my belongings are needed here; most are the specialized tools used in intelligence gathering."

"But hell... the Alliance is really lagging behind the Neo-Terran in terms of tools."

"I already noticed back in the academy that the Alliance is really emphasizing mechanical knowledge at the expense of electronic research. The stuff they make me use is already outdated in the Neo-Terran government."

"Honestly, this is below my dignity," Adam said to himself.

"In Neo-Terran, my kingdom was one of engineers. I was heir to the Black Kingdom and its research facility, with tools at my disposal that Alliance engineers couldn't even imagine, and thousands of slaves to test them on. It was a paradise for my likes."

"But that was in the past, Platinum... those bastards destroyed it all—my kingdom, the research facility—ruined by this very ship. My father, brothers, and fellow researchers all died in the attack. Only me, my mother, some maids, and the butler made it out alive, and my mother is in a coma."

"The Black Kingdom has lost most of its prestige and influence. In Neo-Terran society, it's humiliated—worse than death!"

"That's right. I'll never forgive those fucking Alliance Government for what they've done to my kingdom and family. I've lost everything because of them. Everything! Damn you, Selana Aatre! Hero my ass! You're merely a female captain! How dare you order me around!"

"Also, the Neo-Terran government for humiliating me and my kingdom. Wait—after the Alliance government, you're next. Revenge will be mine for humiliating me."

"Of course, my defection was merely a ruse! Using my family connections, I managed to fake my defection with Neo-Terran intelligence. My mission was to infiltrate the leadership and take revenge for Platinum."

"For years, I pretended to be a man reborn in order to access this ship... and I've finally done it! Ha ha ha! I still can't believe it! Equality and democracy my ass! They're all naïve idiots!"

"Everything is there... good," Adam said.

"But before I was a spy, I am, first and foremost, a researcher. With me, I brought what my family managed to recover from the lost kingdom and facility... the best work of me and my father."

"Engaging system... complete." Adam said.

"As an officer in charge of electronic devices, I can basically make this ship mine... no, I should be careful. There are still too many unknowns."

"First thing, I need to memorize all the cameras across the ship. Fortunately, because of their foolish principles, the Alliance is above putting such devices in the private rooms of the crew."

"Just like I thought. Good," Adam said.

"Using my access to the ship's mainframe, I ran a prepared diagnostics program which tells me exactly what I should expect."

"Cameras are within expectations... AP systems are a bit troublesome, but with luck, I won't trigger them... Hell, this ship is equipped with an anti-optical field?!" Adam said.

"Are they that worried about Neo-Terran? That's a bit unexpected."

"But really... this can't be a mere cruiser. All those systems are a bit too much," Adam said to himself.

"I don't know what mission HQ sent Goliath on, but honestly, it's all irrelevant. My own personal mission is to take revenge on all of its crew and the entire Alliance."

My eyes naturally wander towards... it still lies unwrapped in the corner."

"No, it's too early... I should first get to know all the officers, gain their trust, and assess all dangers and opportunities." Adam thoughts.

"I've been so patient until now; I can wait a few days. For now, my wondrous equipment will stay hidden. Despite appearances, they probably have zero trust in me."

"My room could be searched at any moment, and though I've managed to easily elude Alliance police until now, it's better not to take chances. They won't find any evidence until I make my first move."

Communications terminal interrupts my thoughts, followed by clear voice of commander Heidi

Communicator: This is commander Heidi speaking. We'll now conduct a launch procedure. All unassigned personnel should say in their quarters. This is not a drill.

"This ship… this detestable ship. I'll make it my own personal heaven. Just you wait, father and brothers. Revenge will be mine. Ha ha ha ha!"

Communicator: We'll enter hyperplane in ten minutes. Our destination is planet Violet in Armod star zone. Victory to Alliance!
