[Trumbling Polonquins…]
The thought echoed in my mind as I opened
my eyes, the haze of exhaustion slowly lifting.
The first thing I saw was a small, beautiful
face gazing down at me.
I tried to sit up, mumbling, "I'm sorry,
Princess. I didn't mean to fall asleep on—"
But she silenced me with a gentle hand on my
forehead.
"Don't worry," she whispered, her voice soft
and reassuring. "You've been awake for three
days straight. I don't mind you resting on my
lap."
She began to stroke my hair, her touch
soothing, her scent a mix of sandalwood and
roses. I wished I could stay like this forever.
*Sigh.*
But I know this peace won't last. I have a
promise to fulfill, a duty I set for myself when
I arrived in this kingdom.
Arrived? Or perhaps… appeared.
It happened so long ago, yet I remember it as
clearly as if it were yesterday.
