Chapter 6: Shadows in the Night
Lia spent the rest of the day exploring her prison, searching for any weakness or possible means of escape. She examined every inch of the room, from the reinforced glass to the locked door. But no matter how hard she looked, she couldn't find anything that would help her escape.
As night began to fall, Lia grew more and more desperate. She had to find a way out, no matter what it took. She began to pace back and forth across the room, her mind racing with thoughts and plans.
Just as she was starting to feel like she would never escape, Lia heard a faint noise coming from outside her room. It sounded like footsteps, light and cautious. Lia's heart skipped a beat as she realized that someone - or something - was coming for her.
She quickly moved to the door, pressing her ear against it to listen. The footsteps were getting closer and closer, and Lia could feel her heart pounding in her chest.
Suddenly, the door creaked open, and a figure slipped inside. Lia spun around, ready to defend herself, but as she saw the figure's face, she felt a wave of surprise wash over her.
It was Marco, the man who had brought her to the mansion. He looked around the room cautiously, as if he was afraid of being caught.
"Lia, I have to talk to you," he whispered, his voice urgent. "I didn't bring you here by choice. I was ordered to do so."
Lia's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with questions. "Who ordered you?" she demanded.
Marco hesitated, looking around the room nervously. "Maximo," he whispered. "He's the one who's been holding you prisoner."
Lia felt a surge of anger at the mention of Maximo's name. She was determined to escape, and she was willing to do whatever it took to make that happen.
"Why are you telling me this?" she asked Marco, her voice barely above a whisper.
Marco looked at her with a serious expression. "Because I want to help you," he said. "I don't agree with what Maximo is doing. He's using you for his own purposes, and I don't think it's right."
Lia's eyes searched Marco's face, looking for any sign of deception. But all she saw was sincerity and concern.
"What do you propose we do?" she asked, her voice filled with determination.
Marco smiled, a small, secretive smile. "I have a plan," he whispered. "But we have to be careful. Maximo has eyes and ears everywhere."
Lia nodded, her mind racing with possibilities. She was ready to take a chance, to risk everything for the chance to escape.
Together, Lia and Marco began to formulate a plan, their whispers and gestures hidden in the shadows of the night. They were two prisoners, bound together by their desire for freedom, and they were determined to escape, no matter what it took.
