Chapter 32 - Chapter 30: The Guardian's Resolve

Calguas felt a sudden presence, sensing that someone was intruding in his home and attempting to touch his necklace. Startled, he quickly returned and caught Suman in the act, grabbing his arm to stop him. Calguas stared at Suman, his expression serious, and spoke. "You weren't really trying to meddle in my things, were you, Suman?" Calguas released his grip and demanded an explanation for Suman's presence in his house and his interference with his personal belongings. Suman pouted and insisted that he wasn't intruding, but Calguas refused to look away until he received a satisfactory answer.

"Okay, fine. I'm not intruding, just exploring. That's the right word, my friend." Calguas retrieved his necklace and made his way to the living room, where he noticed his vintage fork on the table. He gave Suman a cold gaze and questioned him about its use. Suman simply looked back at him and shook his head, claiming innocence. However, Calguas continued to glare at him, refusing to look away until Suman admitted the truth. Suman shrugged and awkwardly smiled.

"You see, I did not use that fork. Well, it is true that I was amazed by it, but I didn't use it. So, even a simple accused-meant is very offensive," Suman explained.

Calguas rolled his eyes and said, "You mean accused without a ment?" Suman corrected him, saying, "No, I said meant, not ment. With an EA in the middle of M and N. You know what I mean, don't you?"

Ignoring Suman, Calguas walked away and continued towards the living room, but his eyes kept darting around, observing Suman's mischievous actions. Suddenly, Calguas halted in his tracks when he spotted his expensive vase shattered on the floor and a dead rat that Suman had stepped on. He glared at Suman with anger.

"You broke it?" Calguas questioned.

"I'm going to pay for that," Suman replied.

"And also, you killed this rat inside my house and stained my carpet with its disgusting blood," Calguas added.

"It scared me, seriously. But don't worry, my friend. I'll ask someone to clean it for you," Suman assured him.

Calguas chose to ignore Suman's presence and went upstairs to his room to change his clothes. However, Suman followed him and questioned why Calguas was being rude and leaving him alone in the living room. Calguas didn't respond and quickly entered his room, shutting the door in Suman's face. But to Calguas, it was no surprise to see that Suman had managed to enter the room.

"Solid, liquid, or gas. But what's the difference for us?" Suman pondered aloud.

"I'm changing, turn around," Calguas instructed.

Suman faced Calguas but then unexpectedly looked at Calguas' private area. He commented, "What's the point? I also had the same thing as you, if you know what I mean. Unless you had milkies. But you know what caught my attention? Your necklace. It looks very familiar to me. In fact, it looks very, very familiar. Is it what I think it is? It's not the angel necklace called Tenesi that every angel had, is it, Calguas? You can't possibly have it, especially when you're not an angel anymore. Unless...but you're not, right?" Suman expressed his doubts.

Calguas, now dressed in fine fabric clothes, leaned against his window and gazed outside, observing a small building and his reflection in the mirror. He responded to Suman, affirming that he was indeed an angel, as was Suman. Even though they had undergone changes and were not angels in the same way anymore, they still carried the essence of being an angel.

Suman sat on Calguas' bed and replied, "But that was a long time ago, my dear friend Calguas. Don't tell me you're still dwelling on it. You even bought or made the same necklace we had when we were angels. How nostalgic to see the red gem in it, so shiny and powerful. But come on, get over it, Calguas. Just forget it."

Calguas continued to gaze at the city's bright lights and responded, "I haven't lost hope, not even a bit. As long as there's light, there's a chance. Anyway, what are you doing here?"

Suman stood up, his face beaming, and happily replied, "Well, well, I have good news for you, my dear friend Calguas. Ixartxist is so bothered about finding our Quart's whereabouts that he procrastinated and missed all his contracts. He's a fool, but I think it's a good thing. That's why I awakened someone who will help him." Suman's words caught Calguas' attention. Curious, Calguas asked Suman what he meant by "awaken" and who he had awakened. Suman smiled and said, "Vilyn." The mention of Vilyn's name stirred agitation within Calguas, and Suman noticed it.

"Are you alright, Calguas? Did her name frighten you? Did she make you feel trepidation or bewilderment?" Suman inquired.

"But why would you do that? You yourself said that Vilyn is bad news," Calguas questioned. Suman agreed with Calguas, acknowledging that Vilyn was indeed bad news. However, she could also become good news for Ixartxist. She was the only one who could help them find Quart because she was a demi-demon. So deactivating Tassa's spell wouldn't be as fatal for Tassa anymore.

Calguas couldn't comprehend Suman's explanation and asked why it wouldn't be fatal for Quart, considering she was still a demon. Suman clarified that Vilyn's real name was Mortacia Kristalyn Hermosa, but they changed it to Vilyn because it sounded similar to the word "vital." However, Ixartxist left out the "lyn" part, which was first used in the 14th century, while Vilyn was born four centuries later. Suman questioned if Calguas understood his explanation.

Calguas responded, "I know about the word 'vital' being first used in the 14th century, but that's not my question, Suman. What I'm asking is how can a half-demon become useful to him?"

Suman explained, "She may be a half-demon, but she can transform into a formidable creature. She can help Ixartxist find our Quart because, as you mentioned, she is a half-demon, so nullifying Tassa's spell won't affect her as much. Unlike us, deactivating her spell could potentially kill her. That's why I awakened her. And, well, I did miss my girl."

Calguas began to worry and thought to himself, "Vilyn can indeed track Tassa and Nia'le's whereabouts. But she can also pose a threat to other demons, especially when she's with Ixartxist. That's why they put her into an eternal sleep. She turned out to be bad news for all the demons. How can Suman be so sure they won't do it again?"

Calguas grabbed his cloak and informed Suman that he was leaving, instructing him to stay away from his belongings. Suman agreed but asked where Calguas was heading. Calguas coldly replied that he was simply going to consult someone about something.

"So, Suman, you better go. Like NOW!" Calguas asserted.

"Okay, okay, I will," Suman complied.

Suman left and teleported back to his own house. He entered the bathroom, undressed, and prepared to take a bath. As he stood under the shower, he leaned against the wall, still contemplating Calguas' necklace and his peculiar behavior.

"Vilyn, so he did feel agitated when I mentioned her name. He's probably afraid of her or hiding something, like the whereabouts of our dear Quart. Because if he's not, then why would he be so anxious? I'm not entirely sure yet, but I know Calguas is keeping something from us," Suman pondered with apprehension.

As Calguas flew in the air, his mind filled with thoughts and worries, he felt a surge of power coursing through his veins. In an instant, His form shifted and transformed into Ayamani, his other form that he used to protect Tassa from Ixartxist. His eyes narrowed as he glanced down at the Tenesi necklace dangling from his hand.

"Suman almost touched it," Calguas whispered to himself, a sense of impending doom lingering in his words. His grip tightened around the necklace, understanding the immense significance it held. It was not just a mere accessory; it represented a connection to his past, his purpose, and Quart.

"I must secure Quart's safety, protect her from Vilyn" Calguas's vowed, determination etched into his features. The thought of losing Quart, the one he cherished above all else, was unbearable. He knew he had to do whatever it took to keep her safe from the unfolding events.

With a resolute expression, Ayamani made a silent promise to himself. He would confront the challenges ahead, face Vilyn, and ensure that Quart remained shielded from harm. The weight of responsibility settled upon his shoulders, but he was prepared to carry it, fueled by his love for Quart and the desire to protect her at all costs.

As the wind continued to cascade over Ayamani's form, he closed his eyes, focusing his thoughts and summoning the strength within him. He knew that the path ahead would be treacherous, but he was ready to face it head-on. With Quart's safety as his guiding light, Ayamani resolved to navigate the intricate web of secrets and dangers that surrounded them, determined to emerge victorious.
